Oh Serenade, What Beautiful Music We Make!
The Serenade is a traditional three speed vibrator but beyond the fact that it has three speeds this toy leaves traditional far behind. It is highly textured but soft enough to not to injure delicate vaginal tissues. It is girthy enough to please but not so large that it will scare those who like slimmer toys. Add in the lovely metal storage box and unique battery tray and you've got one amazing vibrator.

Pros
Body safe, lovely textures, strong vibrations, great box
Cons
push button control is easily bumped during play
Ok I will admit it, I love a vibrator. More than that I love vibrators that are funky shaped and colors and the Evolved Novelties Symphony Edition line are both funky and colorful!
The Serenade comes in the Evolved Novelties metal box that the line is famous for. It's a bright cheerful red with a lovely cut out to showcase the toy. The toy is nestled in a piece of foam cut to cradle the toy and another piece of foam to keep the vibrator completely cushioned. This is a perfect storage box for the Serenade but it's BIG. If, like me, you have indulged yourself and bought several of this line it will quickly fill up a drawer. I store all my toys in a handmade plastic canvas box so that they take up less space. This toy is TPR Silicone which means it is a lint magnet so wrapping it on a soft lint free cloth (such as satin or watered silk) will prevent much of the flurf being picked up. I also recommend a quick rinsing before use just to remove the lint accumulation.
This particular vibrator is a traditional three speed and is quite vigorous. The vibrations are concentrated in the tip of the toy where the bullet is situated. This toy is very soft and malleable which means the bullet really causes the tip of the toy to vibrate fast and hard. With a light touch on the clitoris the first speed is easily felt and amazing. The second speed is a bit higher pitched and faster speed. The vibrations seem to penetrate down the shaft of the toy more on this setting and it is probably enough for most users. The fastest speed is a bit higher pitched but it MOVES. On high speed it is not able to be heard outside a closed door though anyone in the room will know there is something buzzing.
The Serenade has some very interesting textures down the shaft. The tip is smooth and egg shaped which flows easily into a series of ridges that run the entire length of the rest of the shaft. The toy measures a total of 8 1/4 inches with a whopping 6 inches being insertable. The toy is rather slim at 5 1/4 inches in circumference but I find that the textures more than make up for the lack of girth.
The shaft of the vibrator is made of TPR Silicone and is translucent enough for the user to be able to see the inner workings of the toy. The shaft is flexible enough to almost bend completely in half making the vibrations of the egg much easier to feel. When I clenched my muscles around the soft shaft there was very little slow down of the intensity of the vibrations.
The cap over the battery casing is hard plastic and tapers to a point where the push button controls the vibrations. You have to cycle through the speeds to turn the toy off and it can be bumped rather easily during play which can be frustrating. The battery casing is one of the features I love about this toy. The batteries rest in a tray that completely slides out of the toy and can be stored inside the box beside the vibrator making it easy to 'load' the toy up and get started!
Although this toy looks like it would be great for anal insertion it's really not meant to be used for such play. It has no flared base and indeed has a tapering base making it a double risk. It gets very slippery with lubed up fingers. It is also TPR Silicone which is porous, for all these reasons it's just better to leave the anal play to toys built for it!
Wash this baby in some warm water and mild soap or a good commercial toy cleaner. It is 100% waterproof provided you close the cap tightly. It passed my initial splash test in the sink and didn't leak even when I held it under the water in the sink for two minutes. Be sure to use a condom if you share your toys or if you are feeling under the weather.
Generally it is fine to use both silicone or waterbased lubes with TPR Silicone but I have had a few toys not stand up to the patch test. This one wasn't bothered by silicone lube but I would highly recommend that you use either a waterbased lube or test an inconspicuous area of your toy with your favorite silicone lube. If there isn't any tackiness or clouding of the surface of the toy then you are safe to use your favorite brand!

Experience
The length of this toy was enough to reach the back wall of my vagina but even with some rather forceful thrusting it never caused any discomfort. I was able to stimulate my G spot because of the flexibility of this toy but I was unable to apply heavy direct pressure, however.
The tip of the toy is rather pointy but also very soft so it wasn't painful even with the rather forceful thrusting I prefer. The ridges are easily felt when slowly thrust inside the vagina but they don't become painful if you speed up the thrust.
The textures do require a bit of extra attention to be sure all lube or bodily fluids are removed when cleaning the toy. A fingernail or a soft toothbrush will do the trick.
One good thing about the textures of this toy is that a condom doesn't mask them, they are still very easily felt.

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
I have heard about the TPR in these toys clouding after time and use but I am happy to say that despite much use this toy is just as clear as when I originally opened the box. I have found that some lubes can stain and cause TPR toys to degrade slightly by clouding or turning almost gummy. I started spot testing my more expensive silicone or TPR toys after noticing that even water based lubes were causing the materials to seemingly degrade. I also started washing them in hot water and soap soon after use.
Now a days I spot test all my TPR and silicone toys before using them with lube and washing the toy quickly. This behavior has stopped all degredation of the materials and my toys are clean and fresh.
