Not the Sweetest Candy

This Candy isn't what it could be. Perhaps a 2.0 version will garner more accolades. It has a nice presentation and design, but it is pretty darn weak and buzzy. If you're sensitive, this might work for you. If you need some power, look away.

Use

The Curve is another toy on the new Love Candy line by Kendra and Evolved Novelties. It is a clitoral stimulator, but it can also be used on other erogenous zones such as the back, neck, and nipples. It is not really designed for insertion, but the tip could be used to tease the vaginal entrance or the outside of the anus (since it is silicone and can be cleaned).

This toy is a bit more pricey given toys of comparable or greater strength. However, the packaging is better than some toys twice its price. It is made of good materials and with care, however I would recommend beginnes try other toys that are more versatile before considering this one. There are more versatile toys for a more affordable price that are also stronger. Avid collectors may consider this for its design and presentation, but it is not an option for those who need some hardcore power or dislike buzzy vibrations.

The Curve is waterproof, so it can be whisked away to the shower or tub if desired. It is also not very loud, which is an excellent choice for those who live with others and need privacy. The packaging also makes it easy to be discreet.

Material / Texture

The Curve is made primarily of silicone. Silicone ranks a 10 out of 10 on the Eden Materials Scale. It is very body safe and hypoallergenic. It is also non porous, so the toy can be cleaned; bacteria won't harbor inside the toy. The silicone has a slight drag but it can be remedied with a drop or so of water based lubricant. The toy is mostly smooth but there are some textures present.

The tip of the toy curves. On the underside there are 3 raised ridges. This is designed to keep the clitoris from slipping out of the toy's reach and to get a better grip. Overall, the silicone is firm and unyielding. The toys will stay where you direct it.

The top side of the toy also has textures. I don't know it's purpose then to perhaps help hold the toy. You could flip the toy around for stimulation, but it is weaker.

There is no overt odor to the Curve.

Design / Shape / Size

Even though the product measurements are on the product page (and are accurate), it still surprised me at how small the Curve looked to me when it was in my hands. The Curve is 4.25 inches long. It fits comfortably in your hand without causing cramping or any discomfort. Here it is compared to the Picobong Ako and a pen.

The measurements of the Curve are not intimidating since it is not designed for insertion. Beginners can use this without concern. If you wish to have a more versatile toy that can be inserted to a degree note that you'll only be able to use the very tip with this toy. If you want more of a "jack of all trades" toy, I suggest some other options. The Curve has a diameter of 1.75 inches, which is ergonomic. The one thing I liked was that the toy was exceptionally light. Sometimes people note this with the toy being "cheap," but I don't get that from this toy.

If you remove the label of the packaging, the Curve is discreet. It could sit on a desk or nightstand without a second glance with its plain black case. In terms of noise, the Curve is relatively quiet at 2 Bees. If you use this under a blanket you should not be heard beyond a closed door.

Functions / Performance / Controls

There are two buttons on the Curve. They are located at the bottom of the toy on either side of it. One side has the power button and the other has a button that has a wavy pattern to it. The power button functions as only an ON/OFF. This is convenient if you need to shut the toy off in a hurry. The wavy button is the one you'll need to cycle through the patterns. There are 7 patterns:

1. Standard Vibration
2. 2 short then one long pulse
3. 5 short then 1 long pulse
4. 4 short then 1 long pulse
5. 3 short quick repeating pulses
6. Rumbly thuds
y. 8 pulses increases like a rollar coaster.

And here comes the downfall: this toy is utterly buzzy. It feels stronger in your hand than where the vibrations are supposed to go. They are very light and buzzy and will make your hand numb if you have anything other than a really light grip on it. In your hand it feel like 3 Vrooms, but it's more like 2 Vrooms if you place the tip on your cheek. I would say it is 2.5 Vrooms on average; it won't work for many users.

The toy is waterproof and takes 2 AAA batteries.

Care and Maintenance

Caring and maintaining the Curve is easy. You can use soap and water, toy wipes, or toy cleaner. Because the toy is waterproof when secure you don't have to worry about water getting into the battery cage. Do check around the nubs at the tip because debris can collect there. For silicone, the curve collects a little bit of fuzz, but it collects only a little for being silicone. Because it is silicone, you should only used water based lubricants with this toy to protect its silicone coating.

Once clean and dry, you can store the Curve in the faux leather case it comes with. The case is protective and discreet; it is perfect for long term storage. If storing for long periods of time, it is best to remove the batteries.

Packaging

The packaging does redeem The Curve to an extent. Here's is a picture of the packaging. It was also covered in some plastic (probably from Eden to reduce damage during shipping).

It looks like a stubby, fat glasses's case. If you slip the paper label off the packaging you'll see that the other (inside) of the label has instructions on how to use the Curve and install the batteries. The instructions are placed in a pleasing and smart way.

Back to the faux leather case. It has a magnetic snap similar to ones on purses. Unsnap it and you'll see The Curve.

You may have to turn the case upside down to shake The Curve out since it can be very snug in the tray in the case. You can keep or remove the plastic tray from the case if you desire. The packaging can easily be used as long term, discreet storage (especially if you remove the label that has the instructions).
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Good for storage

Experience

I've been on the lookout for any clitoral vibrators that would catch my interest. I will admit I am spoiled since my favorites are Life and the We-Vibe Tango. Still, I can appreciate clitoral vibrators of all kinds so long as they are a good value. For example, I also enjoy the Dream Massager G for clitoral stimulation and it is about a third the price of The Curve.

Overall, I don't believe the curve to be worth it's price tag. While the packaging is lovely, it doesn't make up for lackluster power. Even ladies who are more sensitive may not enjoy this toy because it really is only one intensity. I can enjoy a toy at 3 vrooms, but I occasionally like to move to a higher setting at points. With the Curve, it is impossible to do so. It is a bit sad since the toy would have been an easy 5 starts if it could have delivered in the power department. Heck, I probably would have given it 5 stars even if it has a solid 3 Vrooms. That's how nice the other qualities are (I'll admit though that I am a sucker for nice presentation).

However, since my three main factors for rating a product are performance compared to similar toys, how many people it could please, and price vs value, I can solidly give The Curve 3 stars. Perhaps if Evolved reads the feedback of users they will make the Curve stronger. I would give them a second chance and buy the Curve 2.0.
