More Like Screaming No Balm

The O Balm by Screaming O really did not work out for us too well. I couldn't feel any tingling sensations, and he felt very little. I do like the cute, discreet container and how the packaging is presented, even if it's a bit difficult to open and get to the balm's container.

Use

Screaming O's Studio O Balm is a tingly balm that can be applied externally for added stimulation. It contains all-natural ingredients and is paraben-, petroleum-, and phthalate-free. It also does not contain glycerin. There's no actual flavor to it, just the tingling sensations that come when you ingest peppermint oil.

As a balm that can be used on the body, it's easy to apply and easy to rub into skin. It feels exactly like lip balm when it sits on skin. It doesn't really absorb into skin, so it will need to be washed off. There are oils in this balm, so it is not compatible for use with latex condoms.

Tingling products are fun to use during both foreplay and intercourse, since they give extra stimulation to different areas of the body. However, everyone will experience the tingling sensations differently. Some people may not feel it at all, while others may be a bit too sensitive to the sensations.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This has the exact same consistency and feel to it as typical lip balm. It's hard, yet easy to run a finger over to get a thin layer. It applies very smoothly and lasts for quite a while, since it doesn't absorb. It does feel a bit heavy on skin. It doesn't feel sticky or greasy at all, it just kind of sits there until it's washed off or your partner happens to lick it all off.

The consistency really allows for you to apply it and forget about it. It stays where you apply it, so you don't have to worry about it rubbing off on clothing or sheets very quickly. Bodies rubbing together will take a bit of it away, but not very much.

This has a great feel to it to use as a lip balm. It rubs on lips well and doesn't feel greasy or too thick on your mouth. It's also pretty long lasting.

Taste / Aroma

While this does contain plenty of natural oils that can have a flavor to them, like peppermint and coconut oil, this doesn't really have a flavor to it. Licking it causes my tongue to tingle pleasantly from the peppermint oil, but I don't get an actual taste of anything. I use a Burt's Bees mint lip balm, which is similar but with less tingling.

The scent to me is a bit odd. I can smell the peppermint in it, as well as all of the other oils. Combined together, they make a scent similar to that of wax crayons. The scent is very light, though. I can only smell it if I put my nose up to the container. If it's applied on skin, I can't smell it at all.

Performance

We applied the O Balm to each other in several areas during foreplay, including both of our nipples. The balm lasted through foreplay and intercourse. It doesn't need to specifically be used with a partner. It can be used during solo play. Simply running a finger over the surface of the balm a couple of times gets you enough balm to cover a decent amount of skin. It's easy to massage gently onto skin though, as with lip balms, you will have a bit left over on your finger once you're done applying. I just usually wipe my finger on my thigh once I'm done applying it to my fiance's body.

Afterward, I didn't really notice if it was still there or not. It was definitely gone once I had taken a shower, so some soap, water, and a bit of scrubbing should easily remove any traces of balm from your skin.

I would have liked to apply this to his penis to see how that felt, but since we depend on condoms to work and this is made of oils, we didn't try it. I'll go into my personal feelings about this product in the Personal Comments section.

Packaging

The box that the balm comes in is a little difficult. There's a paperboard box with a round cutout in the front for the balm. Since the balm sticks out of this cutout, it's difficult to slide the sleeve that's inside of the box out. I just push in on the sides of the box to round the front of the box up, so that the balm container will fit out of it. The box is pretty nice looking. It's all black with red and white text. Around the cutout on the front are some black rays like a child's sun drawing. The back of the box is informative. It states that the balm is super discreet looking, made from all natural ingredients, paraben-, petroleum-, and phthalate-free, and is usable by both men and women. The directions state to apply to lips and kiss the desired areas or just apply it to those areas. On the bottom of the box is the ingredient list.

Ingredients:
Soybean Oil, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Candelilla Wax, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, Peppermint Oil, Menthol, Apricot Kernel Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Avocado Oil, Tocopherol

The balmy consistency of this comes from the Candelilla wax, which is a wax commonly used in cosmetics and beauty products. It's also often used in chewing gum. As exciting as Cannabis Sativa Seed (hemp) oil sounds, it won't get anyone using this product high. Once it's been harvested from seeds and refined, it loses all of the THC it carried in the plant. Hemp seed oil use is currently restricted in Canada. This ingredient is common in beauty and cosmetic products. There is no glycerin in this balm, so it should be safe for use around the vaginal opening if you so desire to use it there. I would do a small test first, though, in case the tingling sensation is too much for you.

Inside of the box is a plastic sleeve over another piece of paperboard. Sandwiched between the two is the O Balm. This piece of paperboard is red on one side and black on the other. It contains no information.

O Balm itself resembles the typical container of eye shadow. It's black with a flip-open lid. The black plastic has silver metallic shimmery bits in it. The plastic window over the top is colored a deep blue, which enhances the appearance of this as an eye shadow. It measures 2 inches across and 3/4 of an inch tall. It's about the same size as some eye shadow containers. I think this is a super discreet container, especially since the writing on the window is black and almost completely blends into the blue window. This font says it's O Balm, and Cooling Sensations underneath it. Screaming O's logo is also on there. The container has no information on it.

I think the container is easy to use, even with slick hands. You just need to get a finger underneath the indent to lift the lid up. It's also great for travel, since you can just throw it in a purse or makeup bag. It should also fit in pockets.

Personal comments

This is the fourth tingling balm product I've tried so far. It's definitely my least favorite. While I like how the container looks and how cool and informative the box is, I don't care for the balm itself. I didn't feel any tingling sensations at all after application. Licking at the balm, blowing on it, and rubbing it did nothing to help this give me any sensation. It's honestly not much better than applying Burt's Bees beeswax balm with mint to my lips or body. The only place I can really feel any tingling is on my tongue, which isn't really where I want to feel it. My fiance felt some tingling, but not much. There wasn't really any point in me applying this at all, except I suppose as a lip balm. Usually he can feel tingling sensations pretty easily, but I almost never can feel them.

We both prefer the Mint Tingle Gel over this. While this stuff is a goopy gel that feels similar to hair gel, it tastes pleasantly minty and tingles, even if for just a few minutes. We both prefer the kind of products we can lick at and get a yummy flavor while it gives us different sensations.

I'm giving it two stars, because of the discreet container and the fact that it can work well as a lip balm. It lasts a long time on my lips and doesn't make them feel too greasy or too waxy like some lip balms can. It doesn't really have any ingredients to be super beneficial to lips compared to actual lip products, though.
Follow-up commentary
I'm still not a fan of this balm since it doesn't work for us. I'd definitely use this as a lip balm if it actually did anything for my lips. I've noticed that, unlike other cooling and tingling balms I've tried, this product hasn't begun to sweat from the heat yet. Other products develop little moisture patches on the surface from the summer heat.
