Money Clogs the Isla

Although Lelo's Insignia Isla may look exciting with its modern lines and unique look, it is definitely not worth the money or your health. I'm so concerned after one use, I refuse to use it ever again due to its unsanitary design.

Use

Lelo's Insignia Isla vibrator is definitely not one of my favorites, unfortunately. The product boasts that it can be used by anyone and anywhere as it claims, but after one use, I wouldn't use it anymore, nor would I recommend it to others.

Material / Texture

Lelo's Insignia Isla is made of half silicone and half plastic. It is smooth and curvy, like the natural male form would be where the silicone part is. But where the plastic is, it is a nonsense valley that collects fluids and germs. The hole in the handle makes it awkward to hold and maneuver.
    • Smooth
    • Somewhat porous

Design / Shape / Size

When I initially saw the Lelo's Insignia Isla, I thought it looked modern and unique in its shape and design. However, after using it I don't like the design at all. I felt that when they mixed the plastic with the chrome it created a crevice that fluids can collect and are impossible to clean out entirely. This makes it a health hazard. The size is like that of a typical male. It comes with a case and a bag to store it in. It is suitable for travel, as it has a lock capability so it won't accidentally turn on. However, with xray scans of your belongings they can still see it and can still search through your stuff.
    • Futuristic

Functions / Performance / Controls

When I heard that the Lelo's Insignia Isla had 6-8 modes of varying intensity, I wasn't totally excited as that isn't what draws me in my selecting a vibrator. The intensity of it is good when set at its highest setting, at least that is my opinion. The entire shaft vibrates. There is a particular setting, I don't know what you call it, but it's almost as if it's vibrating to music. That setting I found to be very annoying. The setting I liked most seemed like the generic setting that come with every other vibrator. Maybe that's because it's what I've come to know. I'd say it's unnoticeable and quiet when it's set on low, otherwise you can still hear it slightly. The control buttons are located on the top end of the base. So, when I was holding it and maneuvering it, several times I would accidentally bump a button and have to fumble through the 6-8 modes to get back to the setting I had it on. It claims to be waterproof, but it isn't completely as it says in the manual, up to one meter. I'm not too fond of the health hazardous design of it that makes it impossible to clean.
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Multiple settings
    • Rechargeable

Care and Maintenance

It is recommended that you use a water based lubricant when using Lelo's Insignia Isla vibrator, as using an oil based or silicone lubricant can make it permanently tacky. Always clean it thoroughly before and after each use. Wash it with antibacterial soap, rinse with clean hot water and pat dry with a lint-free cloth or towel. Never use cleansers containing alcohol, petrol, or acetone. Avoid leaving in direct sunlight and never expose to extreme heat. Store in a dust free place (case, bag included for storage) and keep away from toys of other materials. It is rechargeable, but don't charge it in the water even though it is waterproof, up to 1 meter.
    • Easy to store
    • Hard to clean

Packaging

The box it came in is made of black cardboard and velvet and is shaped like Lelo's Insignia Isla vibrator on the interior. It comes with lots of instructions and even a 1 and 10 year guarantee, but those will only get me 50% off a new product of theirs. It also comes with a pin/brooch with their insignia. This is put inside a fancy bag with their name on it. I wonder how much it would cost without the bag and brooch pin?
    • Good for storage
    • Very informative

Experience

I don't recall ever seeing Lelo's Insignia "pleasure objects" until recently. I thought they looked unique and modern. When I went to replace my vibrator I selected Lelo's Insignia Isla after I was told and read about great features I normally like in a vibrator. So, I rationalized paying the high price of $164.95
+ tax =174.85 at a local novelty store. Of course the first thing I do is wash it before use as it is supposed to be waterproof. After reading the manual though, I discovered it is not completely. However, my husband and I both were excited to try it out, so it wasn't long before I was using it, after charging it of course. Rechargeable, was another feature I was drawn to when I purchased it. It wasn't
long before I was thinking to myself what money I've wasted. The placement of the buttons made it easy to accidentally press them during stimulation. It had 6-8 stimulation modes of varying intensity, which if you accidentally hit a button during playtime can be rather annoying fumbling trying to get it back to
the setting it was on. I also found that I actually didn't care for the awkward handle that it had. Finally, the worst part about this vibrator is that it is difficult to clean, and I believe that it is unsanitary and a health hazard. The way they have the plastic silver/chrome material inlaid into the silicone leaves a tiny gap/crevice for fluids to be trapped, and I was digging some out during
cleaning afterward with my fingernails. Gross, I can't imagine how many germs are growing and waiting to get spread. I don't want to use it after one use for fear that I may get an infection. How sad. I was looking forward to a unique and modern device, but alas I wasted my time and money in purchasing this. Too bad it's not a product that can be returned.
