Mokin' me frustrated

The Moka is a product of great quality and safety for a reasonable price. Her awkward controls, overly intense stimulation, and slightly-too-weak vibrations left me feeling uncomfortably unsatisfied.

Use

The Moka is designed with a slim body, dramatic curve, and large, flat head. Because of this, she is ideal for intense g-spot stimulation as advertised. Clitoral stimulation also works well with this toy- flip it around and the curve will sort of hook on to the pubic mound, leaving her head resting nicely against the clitoris. Her vibrations also flutter nicely against nipples and other erogenous zones, though they don't rumble nearly strong enough to function as a serious body massager.

This general versatility makes Moka a good option for beginners. Partners can use this to stimulate erogenous zones during foreplay or for intense g-spot stimulation alone or combined with oral sex, though she may be a little too bulky to fit between bodies during intercourse. Using Moka for anal play is ill-advised for safety reasons- she does not have a flared base. She is also both whisper quiet (2 bees represents her highest vibration setting) and waterproof, making her a discreet companion. She does look like a sex toy though, so proceed with caution when taking her through travel security.

Material / Texture

Mokas body is made of plastic and wrapped in velvety smooth silicone, and the bright turquoise of the toy is exactly as pictured. If safety is your primary concern, the Moka will meet all your demands; the silicone is food grade, hypoallergenic, latex free, phthalates free, and nonporous, giving her a 10 on Eden's material safety scale. The only exposed plastic part is her handle. The plastic is also very safe, being nonporous and phthalate-free. The nonporous aspect prevents any bacteria from your body from absorbing into the toy, while the other safety features prevent chemicals from seeping into your body and potential allergic reactions. Both plastic and silicone are also very easy to disinfect with the aid of antibacterial toy cleaner or a bleach solution. She can collect a little lint here and there, so it is best to store her away from anything that could potentially shed- I store mine in a nylon bag.

Her construction means that her body is rigid with no give. She is still able to glide well wherever she is used thanks to her velvety texture and curvaceous build. Lube isn't especially necessary given the smoothness of the toy, but anyone requiring it (particular for insertion/g-spot stimulation) can use a water-based (only, please) lubricant.

If you are one who is looking for a stimulating texture, Moka's smoothness will probably not do it for you. On the flip side, if you are trying to avoid texturing, you and Moka may be compatible. Anyone new to direct g-spot stimulation may find her especially favorable without any other texture to get in the way.

Moka's safety and build make her favorable for beginners and advanced users alike. A solid safety rating is good for everyone, and the nonporous, waterproof aspect make it especially easy on beginners who need a low-maintenance toy. Advanced users looking for intense g-spot stimulation will be able to appreciate her rigidity, though beginners may either find this satisfying or frustrating.

Design / Shape / Size

Moka is 7.75" in length with her tips circumference being 4.5 inches around. Moving down the shaft, she tapers in beyond her head to 3" around, before flaring outward to 4.75 inches where her body meets her handle/cap. Since Moka is fully waterproof and her control pad is built into her silicone body, insertable length is really dependent on personal preference (if you need to adjust it when inserted), dimensions for both amounts of insertion are provided.

Insertable Length (without control pad: 5"
Insertable Length (including control pad): 6.25"
Bottom width (without control pad): 3.75"
Bottom width (including control pad) 4.75"

I found Moka difficult to hold. Her ribbed cap, though looking like a nice grip, was painful to hold for prolonged periods of time. My hand ended up in a sort of arch over it to avoid accidentally hitting the buttons with the palm of my left hand. This may be easier for people with smaller hands who don't need as much surface area to grip on to. Larger-handed people may want to avoid this to avoid pain.

Newbies and those new to penetration may find Moka's head girth and curve to be far too much, and possibly have a difficult and/or painful removal if it hooks around their pubic bone. This same "hook" makes for some comfortable, broad clitoral stimulation though, as the curve of the toy fits nicely around the pubic mound. Advanced users looking for firm g-spot stimulation should look into this one; the firmness of the toy combined with the curve and head puts lots of firm pressure on the g-spot.

Functions / Performance / Controls

On her lowest setting, Mokas rumbly vibrations register at 1 vroom and 1 bee. On her highest setting, she is 3 vrooms. The motor, providing the vibrations, is located directly in the head, making it ideal for both g-spot and clitoral stimulation. Additionally, this makes it easier to use for a prolonged period as the vibrations, felt fairly weak at the bottom of the shaft, are less likely to numb your hand.

Moka boasts a whopping 12 settings, all adjustable in intensity via the +/- buttons. They are, in order:

Steady buzz at the selected speed
Slow, even pulse
Medium, even pulse
Fast, even pulse
Very Fast, even pulse
Jolts (Escalates, stops, Escalates)
Faster Jolts
Fluid rise and fall
Faster rise and fall
Long escalation followed by 2 short pulses
Shorter escalation followed by 4 short pulses
Rollercoaster

I found Moka's controls to be extremely awkward; they are placed to one side of the body, causing it to naturally favor right handed users. The mode button is not responsive to quick presses (even firm ones), so a long, firm press and release is the only way to change it. Someone who needs to insert Moka beyond 5" may find frustration in having to repeatedly pull her out for adjustments. The controls are also stacked, one on top of the other and in the same rounded-square shape, so I found myself accidentally hitting the wrong button quite a lot. Being to one side, the controls also seem to favor right-handed people more. I am left handed and had to angle my wrist in an odd position to access the controls correctly, which still was fairly dodgy.
    • Discreet sound
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Multiple settings

Care and Maintenance

Moka, as with all other toys, should be disinfected after each use to prevent bacteria from collecting on the toy and causing infections later down the line. This also will remove any other bodily residues that would otherwise cause irritation. Being both waterproof and having a silicone exterior, cleanup of Moka is a breeze. To disinfect her, I use antibacterial toy cleaner and water, but you can also use other non-abrasive antibacterial soap or a bleach solution and let air dry. Do not boil it, as this will destroy the toy.

The silicone is not as much of a lint-magnet as toys made from other materials (such as TPR), but she can collect lint as well as react with other materials. The safest option is to store her in a way that prevents contact with other toys, such as in a small bag that doesn't shed lint. Water-based lubricant is the only kind compatible with Moka; other kinds will react with and destroy the silicone. Storing Moka with the batteries left in will drain them over time, so it is recommended that they be stored outside the toy.

Packaging

The packaging is not remotely discreet, but it is stylish. Moka comes in a color-coordinated box with a window that shows her standing up. The back has a little blurb about unlocking g-spot orgasms followed by a little diagram of the toy and its features. The sort of inexpensive quality of the box doesn't really make it a discreet storage option, but it's color-coordinated and meant to be fun looking, making it a nice, casual gift.

The base that holds the toy up in its package contains an instruction manual, info on her 1-year warranty, a list of dos and don'ts regarding care, and a little charm with the Picobong logo. The little loop on the cap seems to be designed for this. Or, if you're feeling bold, it can just as easily be attached to a cell phone. The instructions appear to be universal to the Picobong line. The toy is referred to throughout only as "your Picobong". They are quite basic, spelling out that she takes 2 AAA batteries and how to insert them, "+" activates vibration and speeds her up, "-" slows her down and eventually turns her off, and "M" cycles through modes. It also contains safety info about care and lubricant compatibility, which are covered earlier in the review. Nowhere in the instructions was info on each specific vibration mode- peculiar for a toy that boasts 12 of them. And even more peculiar, there was no info on how to use her for g-spot stimulation, something you'd think a line targeted towards young people would provide.

Personal comments

All in all, Moka was just an ill-fit for me. Her shape was just too intense internally, and hooked around my pubic bone, making her no good for thrusting (something I really enjoy). She is also fairly slim, not being made for a "full feeling" (something I also enjoy). Externally her vibrations just didn't get me there, despite having a shape that worked well for broad stimulation. I did like the variety in vibration and pulsation modes, but again they just weren't strong enough to get me there. If you like intense g-spot stimulation, 3 vrooms is enough for you either internally or externally, and you are right-handed, she may be your mate. If you are looking for something that is thrusting friendly, gives you a full feeling, or has easier controls, it may be best to keep looking.

Experience

I really like the minimalist yet fun aesthetic of Moka and all other Lelo toys. Her dramatic curve is ideal for intense g-spot stimulation, though not in a way I had hoped. Her head stimulated my g-spot, but in the far-too-intense-not-so-fun way. I found it frustrating not being able to use a thrusting motion, as she became hooked around my pubic bone once inserted, making any fluid outward motion painful. She can be used with an up-and-down rocking motion though, which makes for some very intense g-spot stimulation. The slim, tapered design didn't provide me much of a "full" feeling. I tried using a side-to-side rocking motion to remedy this, but that just caused the cap to pop off, stopping the toy entirely. I found more fun in using her for clitoral stimulation, as she hooked around the pubic mound nicely.

Follow-up commentary
After getting Ella, I've discovered that there is a time and place for Moka. Using Ella as a warm up first, Moka's firm g-spot stimulation serves as a great finisher. Though I am still not a fan of her right-handed orientation and weak vibrations, her shape and smooth silicone at least make for a quality dildo.
