Mimi let me down, plain and simple. I wanted a powerhouse toy; I got a teaser toy. Mimi didn't live up to the hype for me. Not enough power, not good for pin-point vibration, and hard to hold on to. Mimi might be worth it for couples as a foreplay toy, or for beginners looking for something simple, but powerqueens will be disappointed.

Pros
Easy to clean, rechargeable, waterproof, discreet, and non-threatening design
Cons
Lack of power, difficult to maneuver at times, and frustratingly hard to press buttons
Mimi is a good toy if you're not really a power queen. It's a great teaser toy; dragging Mimi across the skin is a luxurious feeling thanks to the velvety silicone, and it's fantastic for gently stimulation the labia and teasing the clitoris. I like to use Mimi as a warm-up for my penetration toys; a few minutes of playing with Mimi around the genital area can get me in the mood.
Unfortunately, it's unlikely to give you the kind of raw power you might be looking for in a strong vibe. Mimi also is a bit difficult to handle if you're not particularly dexterous; I find that on the strongest level of vibration, Mimi jumps right out of my hand, so I have to be paying attention to my grip and that can take you out of the mood pretty fast.
Mimi is quiet though; under the blankets, it's nearly silent. Outside the blankets, the hum is a little more audible than I think most people are expecting, but it's pretty subtle overall.
Mimi's silicone is very fine and smooth to the touch. It warms quickly and doesn't get slick if you're sweating. The silicone makes it extremely easy to clean, which is good because it also picks up fuzz from pretty much everywhere. I store mine in the box to prevent this problem, but I also have a cat, and sometimes cat hair on my bed seems to be magnetically attracted to the Mimi.
It doesn't have a scent as far as I can tell; when I first got it, the "new toy" smell was very mild, and after two months of ownership, I'd say it's gone. I haven't licked it, so I can't speak for taste. The texture is very beginner-friendly if you have it on a lower vibe setting; higher settings make it difficult to grip.
The silicone is very soft and and feels nice against skin, but Mimi itself has no flex whatsoever, so don't expect to be doing much creative bending.
Aesthetically, the Mimi is delightful. Its shape is round and non-threatening to beginners, the size is small and easy to transport, and it appears discreet. It has a really adorable feature: the heart in the Je Joue logo lights up red when the toy is on, something you may not even notice unless you're examining it closely.
That said, Mimi is awkward to hold properly. I found that the best way to get use out of it was to lay it flat against my labia, occasionally nudging the tip towards my clitoris. The end is very blunt, so in terms of apply direct pressure, Mimi can't do it. The entire toy vibrates in a very non-specific way, so it works best as a teaser in my opinion. It just can't be used for pin-point application.
The vibrations seem to be centered in the toy, because the tip certainly never gives me any more pleasure than any other edge of the toy. Because of this, finding the right way to hold and really play with the toy took me several tries and a lot of patience. The controls are actually quite frustrating if you're an impatient masturbator; the buttons have to be pressed very hard, and it's easy to get the toy turned around and press the wrong buttons. The + button turns it on and cycles first through power levels, then through patterns. The - button will take you back, or turn the toy off. I didn't discover the skip-back feature until the fourth time I used Mimi, partially because I found there was a delay between my pressing the button, and the toy responding. So, I held the button too long and turned it off.
I also had trouble telling when it had increased in power. The differences between each level are very, very slight, and I regularly cycled right past the highest setting on accident. Since I hadn't figured out you could back track yet, I had to turn the toy off and start it all over again.
The buttons are very difficult to press and next to impossible to distinguish in the dark when you're fumbling. Looking for the heart helps a bit!
In terms of power, Mimi left me disappointed, which was a big surprise because I'd been expecting the most power I'd ever had! I'm used to cheap bullet vibes and only have one penetration toy, so I was really excited to blast off with Mimi. Unfortunately, she just didn't measure up to my expectations, and I didn't get off with the toy until I had spent a lot of time with it. The patterns are varied and creative, but don't really do anything for me since I don't care much about patterns.
Mimi is super easy to care for. It's completely waterproof and submersible, so take it in the shower or bath with you whenever you feel like! Soap and water is fine for cleaning, or toy cleaner. I use wet-wipes and just run it over the toy before and after use.
It comes in a lovely little box with a ribbon, so I find storing it in the box is both easy and discreet. Mimi is rechargeable with a magnetic cord that 'clips' into place. Supposedly it stops flashing the heart when it's full charged, but mine flashes as long as it's plugged in. I should also mention that I live in a country on 220v (North Americans use 110v) and Mimi words just fine with a plug adapter. There was no power adapter needed.
Mimi's packaging was beautiful. The box looks like a jewelry box and ties with a ribbon. It can easily be kept for storage or presented as-is as a gift; it really is a beautiful presentation. The toy sits on a plastic tray inside, and you can find the manual and cords underneath. I keep my Mimi in the box whenever I'm not using it.
Honestly, I didn't read the instructions (which is probably why I didn't know about the skip-back button) but I didn't think a toy with only two buttons would be hard to figure out.
I had really high expectations for Mimi being a powerhouse in a small package, and I was honestly very disappointed. While the quality of the toy is much better, considering the price I paid, I found it basically the same as my $12 bullet vibes. I wanted my clit to go numb; instead, I felt clumsy and had a really hard time just figuring out how to position the toy to get the most out of it.
If you're someone with an incredibly sensitive clit, or a beginner, Mimi will probably be fine for you. The settings are varied enough to give you a bit more of an adventure than your average bullet, but for the price, it just didn't do enough for me to really out-class my regular, cheap bullets. It wins for durability, ease of cleaning, and packaging, but loses on actually living up to the the hype of being a power-vibe.
I ordered Mimi on the recommendation of several reviewers because I found my bullets just weren't getting me off anymore, and I wanted to upgrade to something more powerful. But I'm still kind of shy about vibes and Mimi was really non-threatening, so it seemed like a perfect match. After waiting a month (I live in South Korea and airmail is slow) I got the toy... and was ultimately underwhelmed. Mimi didn't get me off the first, second, or third time I tried to play with it. The first time it actually did get me off, I was using it in conjunction with another toy, so I'm not even sure I'd say Mimi did it.
Now I use Mimi as a teaser toy, a lead-up to my dual stimulation toy. Even on the highest setting, Mimi alone only rarely gets me off, and usually it's after a very long period of foreplay. In terms of partner-play, I think Mimi has merit as a teaser; it does feel nice to drag along skin and tease the labia. But as a clitoral stimulator? Meh. It might get you off, but it also might take a while.
Teaser toy
Follow-up commentaryI've started to like it more23 days after original review
After having and playing with Mimi with my new, lower expectations (teaser, not powerhouse) I actually have started to enjoy her a bit more. I found that instead of treating it like a clitoral toy, just gently dragging the smooth body across my labia spread the vibrations in the toy much more effectively. Mimi still takes a while to get me off, but I feel like I've figured out how to handle her now, and it's not quite as much of a let-down!
