Mia is definitely a good vibrator, but I am hesitant to give her my best recommendation simply because her vibrations were not right for me. So I can't expect that they'll be right for you. But if you want a discreet (both in looks and charging - she appears and acts like a flash drive!) sophisticated vibrator, then Mia is for you!
Mia is strictly an external vibrator. Feel free to use her on your clit, nipples, neck, etc. but she is not designed for insertion in the vagina or anus (although you could insert her about an inch in the vagina if you really wanted to). Mia's best feature is her charging! She is rechargeable via USB! Simply unplug her cap and plug her into your computer. She also comes with an extension cord just in case she doesn't fit directly on your laptop. This feature also makes her ideal as a travel companion.
Mia was designed for women, however a man could certainly use her if he likes lighter stimulation (Hey, I want the Billy!).
I have also traveled with Mia in my carry-on bag in the airport and I haven't had any problems. Then again, the woman at the x-ray machine did laugh a little bit so I think that she knew what it was.
Mia is made out of ABS plastic and body safe silicone. Her dials are silicone, the rest is plastic. She has no scent or taste. I really like the smooth texture, but I think it would be interesting if there was a silicone option, much like the Nea and Lilly set.
Mia is definitely suitable for both beginners and advanced users. She is very discreet (read: non-threatening) and easy to control. Her shape also allows the user to pinpoint her vibrations.
LELO gets another A+ for Mia's design! Mia is LELO's take on a lipstick vibrator. Mia is definitely small enough to carry in any handbag or in your pocket. The USB charger is also pretty fancy!
The vibrating part of this toy is the bullet at Mia's tip. Initially, I thought that the cap end would vibrate since it has a beveled surface. I would have loved for the tip to be beveled because I could lay it over my entire clitoris. The cap does carry some vibrations, but it's not nearly as strong as the tip.
Also, the cap has a tendency to slip off during use. This is a disappointment because it makes the toy harder to hold. It also makes it less pretty, and it makes me feel like I'm breaking the toy. Be careful because when I pulled the cap off once the circuit board came out! My Mia still works, but its vibrations are different and louder. Fluid also has a tendency to get caught in the cap area, so make sure that the area below the cap is completely dry before re-capping after cleaning. And when you open the cap, make sure to keep a firm grip on the metal rim to prevent any electrical mishaps.
She has four different levels of vibration. LELO describes them as "from a soft flutter to an intense pulsation." While I would disagree with the intense pulsation description, Mia does pack a punch for her petite size. I say that Mia is strong, but let's face it, she's not intense. She'd get clobbered by the Hitachi Wand. Now THAT is intense!
After her stimulation modes, Mia goes into pulsation mode. While she is on her highest setting, hold the "+" key to enter the lowest pulsation mode. There are three different pulsation modes. Note that unlike the pulsation modes on other LELO products, the pulsation modes on the Mia only exist on the highest setting. I haven't heard too many complaints about this, except from users with very sensitive clitorises (My clit is not very sensitive, so please factor my preferences into your analysis of my review).
Caring for Mia is a snap! All you have to do is clean her with soap and water. Make sure to rinse and dry well, especially in the cap area. Also, do not use cleaners with alcohol or acetone as they can damage Mia's silicone. Since Mia's controls (and the base behind the cap) are made of silicone, she is not compatible with silicone lubricant.
Mia can be stored in her very own white satin pouch, which is included in her box.
Mia is packaged in an adorable black (fancy) cardboard box, which comes in a cute pink paper box. I collect LELO boxes because they are so pretty! Mia's phenomenal packaging and presentation makes her a fantastic present. A thorough manual is included which describes all of Mia's functions, likes (being turned on!), dislikes (aka alcohol and silicone lube), etc. I would suggest flipping through this manual before trying her out.
Now let's talk some more about Mia's vibrations. Unfortunately they aren't the deep low thumping kind. They are higher pitched. This might be a huge disappointment to some. In fact, I deducted a star and a half for this reason. I like deep resonating vibes. And Mia just didn't have it (that is until I broke her, and boy does her motor resonate now).
I took off half a star because I shouldn't have been able to pull her motor out of her body. Maybe I just ate a little too much spinach that day or something, but that shouldn't have happened.
I was initially disappointed with Mia because I couldn't orgasm with her. But I was used to a bullet on high power and Mia just couldn't compare. I was extremely sad because I loved her design so much! Months passed and Mia still stayed in my drawer untouched. I used her again on a whim, and I still got nothing.
So I gave myself a challenge.
On one of my breaks from college, I took Mia home. I didn't take my bullet. This meant that if I wanted to orgasm then I HAD to use Mia. This worked. Soon I was able to orgasm with Mia, but it took an hour and a half. I don't know about you, but I just don't have that kind of time. And my orgasm wasn't as strong as it usually was.
Needless to say, I do take her on all of my trips, and I have learned how to have strong orgasms with her, but she could still learn a few things from her big sister Gigi.
Follow-up commentaryI've started to like it more6 months after original review
First off, I did end up exchanging my Mia because of that separating issue. My "new" Mia wasn't that much stronger than my old one, but I have to say it works better now. Or maybe I know myself better. Or maybe I have a lot more patience than I did before. Because it works, if I position it *just so*. And I love it for traveling because of that whole USB thing. But I still don't use it at home, because I tend to go for something stronger. But its techie-ness, and the fact that it now works for me, is quite awesome.
