KY Yours and Mine? Definitely Not Mine!
This product will not be good for everyone and can cause negative reactions for some people. The consistency is poor and the performance isn't all it's hyped up to be.
Published:
Pros
water-based, so good for condoms and silicone toys
Cons
sticky, runny, many cause allergic reaction, not a very noticeable effect
I have seen the commercials for KY Yours and Mine and decided to give it a shot! The advertisements definitely played it up too much, for I was incredibly disappointed.
The lube comes with two parts, "Yours" (the blue one) for males and "Mine" (the purple one) for females. "Yours" is supposed to give a warming sensation, while "Mine" is supposed to have a cooling, tingly effect. They are supposed to be used together; however, you can use them by themselves as well.
The first time I used KY Yours and Mine, I tried them together. I applied the "Mine" to myself and my boyfriend applied the "Yours" on himself. According to the commercials, when these effects come together, it is supposed to be amazing. However, this was not the case. After a few minutes of use, I was in pain; my private areas were burning terribly. I immediately went and tried to clean the lube off.
However, it was so sticky I couldn't get clean using soap and warm water on a washcloth. Despite the fact that the lube isn't very thick, I could not get it all off. The lube is water-based, so water tends to glide right off of it. Additionally, one of the ingredients in "Yours" is honey, which may have caused the lubricant to be sticky. To clean myself, I ended up having to take a full shower and really scrubbing.
I assumed that the burning I was feeling was due to the "Yours" since the blue bottle is supposed to have a warming effect. So, my boyfriend and I tried using the "Mine" by itself, which was a big mistake! The cooling effect is actually what was causing the pain. I spoke to my gynecologist about this and she said this is a pretty common issue. Menthol (which is an ingredient in "Mine") tends to irritate a lot of women.
Now that I knew the real issue, I tried using the "Yours" by itself. There was a bit of a warming sensation, but it wasn't very pronounced. This may be good for some women who only like a slight warming. For me personally, it wasn't enough; I tried to use a bit more in order to enhance the effects. According to the directions, you only need a drop or two of the lube. Adding more, however, didn't really help. Actually, all that did was make a huge mess since KY Yours and Mine is so runny.
I can't really say how well the "Yours" and "Mine" mixed since I had such a bad reaction to the "Mine". I have spoken to some friends about it and they said even when mixed, the effects aren't very strong. Basically, this lube is much ado about nothing. There are much better lubricants on the market that have similar effects; additionally, many are most affordable than KY.

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
After my painful experience, I have only used the "Yours" since writing my review. It is okay, but nothing special really. Not only is the product sub par, it is ridiculously overpriced.
I can't speak from experience about how well the "Yours" and "Mine" lubricants mixed. I have spoken to friends about the product: they have all said it was kind of an interesting feeling, but nothing to get too excited over. I have also read some of the reviews for the product. While some feel the product is all right, others love it. So, if you aren't sensitive to menthol and any of the other issues I encountered (see the cons), you may want to give this product a try.
Please use caution if this is you first experience with a warming or cooling lubricant! I don't want you to end up in the same situation as me!
