I am on the fence about these, as I don't have a lot of experience with balls of this type. I haven't had these long enough to know if they do indeed work as intended. If you are like me and looking for something to stimulate you internally and help you noticeably work those kegel muscles, you should try something else. If you just want something to be able to clench your muscles around that is body safe and not too big, these may be what you are looking for.

Pros
Body safe material, beautiful red color, came with a nice storage bag.
Cons
Silicone doesn't cover entire string, inner balls not felt easily, feels too easy to keep them in.
The Joyballs by JoyDivision are vaginal balls designed to be placed into the vagina and stimulate you internally as well as give you something to clench around to work your kegel muscles. The success of this toy is really dependent on the user. For me, they are the perfect size and shape, but for others, they may be too big or too small. Also, there are ball bearings inside that are meant to give added stimulation as they move around and are supposed to make your kegel muscles clench involuntarily when they move.
I did not experience this. I had these in while cleaning the house and another time while working out. Only once did I feel the ball bearings move, and this was during a yoga pose called "Downward Facing Dog" in which my pelvis was inverted. I felt the bearings drop down and then again when I stood up, but that was it. I even tried running and doing jumping jacks, but felt nothing move. Now, maybe this will be different for users who are more sensitive, or more petite than I, but I can not be sure.
Maybe the ball bearings are too big inside or too heavy to allow movement. I had imagined that they would be similar to a ball bearing inside an aerosol paint can, but this was not the case. Shaking them in my hand, you can feel them move, but it is a heavy thud, instead of a rapid rolling movement. The only other vaginal balls I have experience with are the steel balls and the glass balls that are smaller and not connected to a string. I found the Joyballs to feel safer, but I did not have to work at all to keep them in, as they are not as heavy or slick. It kind of felt like I had a big tampon in.
I am not sure what the Joyballs are made of internally, but they are coated with beautiful bright and shiny red silicone. The only odd thing is that the string that is meant for retrieval is only partially covered with this silicone. The bare part of the string appears to be made of white nylon and I can see this getting dirty or trapping bacteria. There is no smell or taste and I love the easy cleaning of the silicone, I just wish it covered all of the string.
The texture is smooth, but instead of being slick, has a bit of drag to it. This helps the balls stay in, but wanting it not to be so easy to keep in (as is the point I think, for working those kegels) I used lube with these to make them slippery. They are smooth enough to use with out lube though, but that is up to you.
The design of these balls is great in theory. I love the color and the silicone is body safe. There is a small distance between the two balls connected by silicone which makes this toy a bit flexible for insertion. This also allows you to leave one ball outside of your body if two seem like too much or you like the feeling of one ball hanging. I found it is more enjoyable that way, but makes wearing them discreetly or with panties a little more difficult.
Each ball has a total circumference of 4 and 1/2 inches with a diameter of what I measured to be 1 and 1/2 inches, though the sight lists it at 1 and 3/8 inches. As I find it hard to measure something spherical, I guess you should take their word on it. Either way, these balls are not intimidating at all. I also measured these balls from the top of one to the bottom of the other for a total length of 4 inches, and the string is 3 and i/2 inches long. For some one petite, they may find them too big, or both together to be too long, but I found them comfortable. I think they are small enough to be easily hidden or packed for travel.
I like the body safe material, the size and shape, and the beautiful color. Otherwise, these did not perform the way I had hoped they would. I will continue to use these in the hopes they do make my kegel muscles stronger, but my hopes are not high. I just need to feel like they are working.
Maybe they ARE working, but I can not FEEL them working? In that case I guess they can be a great option for exercising your kegels. Only time will tell on this one. The shape did feel good inside during a masturbation session where I used clitoral stimulation to orgasm. The balls felt really nice to clench my muscles around. This is honestly the only use I see getting out of these balls. I had hoped for something to work my kegels automatically, and maybe give me some extra stimulation from something I could wear secretly in public, but they don't really provide those things for me. So, regrettably, my search for the perfect vaginal balls is still on.
Silicone can be sterilized by a diluted bleach solution, boiling water, or the top rack or the dishwasher without soap. For daily cleaning, I just use warm water and liquid antibacterial hand soap. You can also use toy cleaners or wipes.
Silicone does pick up lint and hair easily and that is especially true for the shiny almost sticky silicone on these balls. The texture almost reminds me of vinyl, so you can imagine what they would like if you dropped them on the floor. After cleaning and drying with a lint free cloth, I put them in the nice silver drawstring bag that they came with. You could always use a plastic sandwich bag to store them as well.
As with all silicone toys, only water based lubes are recommended.
Follow-up commentaryI still don't like it2 months after original review
These balls are just wrong for me. I hate that the strings are only half covered in silicone. The nylon part gets wet from my juices and I cringe every time I wash them, knowing it isn't getting very clean. I have used a diluted bleach and water solution, so I feel better, but I don't want to pull out the bleach every time I want to use these things. Also, maybe it is just my anatomy, but the part where the silicone stops and the nylon begins falls right where my vaginal lips part, so I get a lot of friction and irritation if I am wearing them under my thongs and tighter jeans. I can feel the string there and not in a good way. I want to notice the balls, not the string.
The balls themselves are okay, but I only notice them during sex. I would like something I could feel a little more to give me a secret thrill out in public as well as get my kegals exercised. Speaking of which, I have used these two to three times a week for at least 15 minutes to an hour at a time. I have noticed some tightness in my muscles, so they must be working. They are not all bad, but there are so many options out there. I need to get some different ones so that I can compare the two.

Sir
These look very nice, but it's too bad that the silicone doesn't cover the entire string. I wonder why they did that.. Regardless, excellent review, Maiden!
