Use

I'm going to say right up front that I'm giving the Salsa 5-stars - as much for it's versatility as any other single factor. It's discreet, waterproof, rechargeable and powerful - and versatile.

Green buyers are looking for rechargeable toys - check
Most beginners start with a clitoral vibrator - check
Most intermediate players are looking for variable speeds and patterns - check
Most advanced player are looking for power - check
College-age girls and apartment dwellers need quiet power - check
Many women like a vibe that can be used during intercourse to get them over the top - check
Most travelers are looking for discretion - check
And EVERYONE is looking for waterproof toys that are easy to clean and maintain - check

Last but not least - my wife and I have always bemoaned the fact that most silicone dildos do not have vibes - and if they do, the watch battery bullets that we've seen are near worthless. So when we bought the B-Bomb to expand our anal repertoire - we chucked the Tantus bullet that came with it in favor of the Salsa - and with a dab of lube it went right in and provided far more powerful vibes for the B-Bomb. So if you have any Tantus dildos like the Echo, Feeldoe/Realdoe and want to breath new life into them - get a Salsa and try it out! You can also do a DIY on any silicone, Vixskin or O2 dildo if you are so inclined.

I'm sorry if I left out your specific need - but whatever it is - Salsa is likely to meet your needs.

Must I say it? No - this is not an anal friendly toy - except of course for external stimulation.

Material / Texture

Not much to say here - the Salsa is made of a rigid hard plastic which has no odor or texture. Although I wouldn't recommend boiling the Salsa - I think it should rank very high on the safety scale because you can easily disinfect it with a bleach or alcohol wipe - there are no nooks or crannies to harbor bad actors like bacteria.

Design / Shape / Size

In spite of accurate description on the EF site and other reviewers - the Salsa still surprised me by how small it is. It is truly a 'pocket rocket'. You could easily carry this in your purse or pocket for use at any time. At just over 3" long and 5/8" in diameter - it looks like a high powered finger - and when you use it, it's just like an extension for your finger. But there's where the analogy stops - not even the Bionic Woman's finger could vibrate this fast!

Salsa has an apex that is designed for pinpoint clitoral stimulation - it's near twin the Tango has a flatter tip that distributes the vibes a little more. To figure out which one is for you, read the reviews for each and pull the trigger - you will not regret purchasing either.

One caution - the vibe is so small that you cannot avoid having the vibrations extend to your hand - so if that's a problem for you this may not be your best choice. The effect is much like Mimi and other small clitoral vibrators.

Functions / Performance / Controls

With so little real estate to work with - there was nowhere to place the charging contacts and controls except the very bottom. Generally speaking this is not a problem - but there are some caveats that I will go into later.

First the charging - as a fully waterproof toy, like many it uses a magnetic style charger. It's very easy to attach, charging takes very little time and unlike some other magnetic chargers - is not prone to coming undone - 5-stars for the charger design.

The controls are a single button solution. Some will be glad to hear that it's much easier to activate than the Mimi or similar vibes. This is generally positive - but it can lead to inadvertent changes in intensity or pattern. The button is sequential as follows:

Low-steady
Medium-steady
High-steady
Higher-steady
Pulse-high
Roller Coaster
Pulse-fast
Triple pulse
Off

At any time you can hold down the button and the Salsa will shut off. When it comes back on it will start where you left off - so if you want to go back to a prior setting, you simple cycle through til you get what you want.

For such a small vibe - the vibes are surprisingly rumbly - something that my wife and many other women appreciate. Power has it's price therefore, the sound power radiated through the plastic is higher than say the Mimi where there is a silicone covering to mute the sound somewhat. The sound is by no means objectionable.

Battery life has not been an issue for us and it seems to hold a charge well between uses. All rechargeable vibes will loose some power if they sit for long periods without use or recharging.
    • Easy to use
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Rechargeable

Care and Maintenance

Maintaining the Salsa couldn't be any easier. A quick wash in soap and water or your favorite toy cleaner should suffice. If so inclined feel free to add a bleach or alcohol wipe for disinfecting.

We top-off the charge every week or so, whether we use it or not. There's nothing worse than grabbing a dead vibe when you're seeking power!

Although all lubes are compatible with the Salsa - you shouldn't need much. Even if you decided to do some shallow vaginal penetration - lube should not be an issue.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Personal comments

One of the more creative uses we've found for the Salsa is to add vibrations to Tantus dildos with the requisite hole in the bottom. In this case the B-Bomb. The plan was to have a DP experience. On our first try in the missionary position the B-Bomb came out - that was a B-Bomb issue not a problem with the Salsa.

The second time we tried the dogie position and the results were much better - as I as able to hold the B-Bomb in place. However, the issue came when I inadvertently pushed the power button - changing the cadence - then turning it off. This is where more difficult to push buttons would work better. However, once I learned to hold the B-Bomb without touching the Salsa's controls - things worked better.

Very versatile - we actually found a safe way to use the Salsa anally!

Experience

We bought the Salsa to have an alternative to the Mimi and Mystic Wand. My wife loves to have a clitoral vibrator to bring her over the top when I'm using one of her favorite dildos - like Johnny, Maverick or Outlaw.

About 80% of the time she prefers the broader coverage of the vibrations from the Mystic Wand - but occasionally more targeted vibes like the Mimi are her choice. Salsa takes 'targeted' to a whole new level and has earned it's stripes getting used as much as Mimi.

Occasionally it's an all vibe affair! We'll use the G4 Big Boss vaginally and the Salsa on her clit - sometimes even a 3rd small vibe in her ass. The results are awesome - she gushes, convulses and screams until spent. I get somewhat of a kick out of seeing her lie there in front of me - sated yet incoherent - I get to admire her beauty and my handiwork!

No doubt this is why she insists that I know her better than she knows herself!
Follow-up commentary
We still like the WeVibe Salsa - but it doesn't get as much use as I had hoped. Salsa has failed to displace the Je Joue Mimi. The strong suit with the Salsa is that anyone who has a dildo with a slot in the bottom for a bullet vibe (Champlette, all of the Feeldoes & Echo come to mind), you can replace the weak original equipment vibe with the Salsa and get a greatly improved experience with the stronger, rechargeable & waterproof Salsa.

We still use the Salsa quite a bit - but it's grown pretty finicky. When you try to cycle through to find the right setting, it often goes dead - even thought there is still charge in the battery. Leaving it unused for about 5 min will usually allow you to use it again - but after 5 minutes we're moved on to something else.
This is one of the downsides to rechargeable toys. They are expensive and have to be replaced every couple of years. Environmentally, I'd say they are less-green than just replacing batteries as required.

We just got the Tango. She getting tired of lugging out the Hitachi. so far loves it !
  • Contributor: Gunsmoke
I think they stopped making the Salsa - seems that the Tango has gotten better reviews and is more reliable. Best of luck!
BTW - I use it to help me get over the top when the wife is pegging me - it makes for quite a handful!
