Galan is a nice g-spot vibrator from Fun Factory. His unique yet mild texture and steady vibrations provide good stimulation to the g-spot, and can also stimulate the clitoris. He works well with rechargeable batteries, but his battery compartment is difficult to open. His vibration control is conveniently located and difficult to change by mistake. Galan is best suited for play away from water.

Pros
Unique texture, spin vibration dial, made of silicone.
Cons
Not waterproof, battery compartment difficult to open.
Galan is a pleasant g-spot vibrator from Fun Factory. He has a good, filling diameter, maxing out at 1 3/8”. With 6” of insertable length, he can reach the spots he aims for. He also works well for clitoral stimulation with his soft and flexible tip. Galan will work best for those who enjoy a light texture to their toys, accompanied by moderate steady vibrations. He can’t be used in the shower or bath, but should provide enjoyment anywhere out of the water.
Although the information sheet warns to keep a good grip on Galan if he’s used anally, his lack of a flared base makes him unsuitable for anal play.
Galan is made in Germany of 100% silicone. He’s phthalates-free and hypoallergenic, so he has no scent or taste, even right out of the box.
He is flexible, especially at his tip, and his body and shaft has some give while still remaining firm. Galan’s soft and smooth to the touch, and has an interesting ridge pattern that reminds me of knot patterns on wood. He comes in a lovely periwinkle color.
I really like Galan’s design. His unique ridge pattern is not too pronounced, and feels good internally when used with lubrication. The ridges are gentle enough that you don’t need to warm up and get used to them before thrusting with abandon.
Galan is 7” long overall, with 6” insertable, and he has a nice 1 3/8” diameter. He’s not so girthy that he’s difficult to insert, and his head flexes to make insertion easier.
Galan is obviously a vibrator, and will be noticed if left out on display. He will travel well in a checked bag, however, and he doesn’t turn on accidentally very easily.
Galan is powered by 2AA batteries, and has a reasonable amount of power. His motor is fairly quiet - no louder than a vibrating cell phone. The bullet inside is located right at the top of the shaft below his head, and delivers the most vibrations there although they can be felt up and down his entire length.
The instructional flier suggests using rechargeable batteries with Galan, which is probably the first time I’ve seen this recommended with a battery-operated toy.
The batteries are inserted in the base, and this is the only part of Galan I have trouble with. The base is removed by pressing firmly on both sides of the base on each side of the controller. Two indentations are on each side of the controller where your thumb and forefinger go. The base shouldn’t be twisted but lifted straight off, and it can be difficult to remove.
Closing the base is much easier. Simply press back into place until you hear 2 clicks.
I like the vibration controller quite a bit. It is set on the side rather than the bottom, which makes it easier to use without changing the speed and vibration accidentally. The dial spins both ways. When turned slightly the vibrations begin. They can be increased in intensity as the dial is spun to the halfway point, where the dial clicks into place. Spinning in either direction lessens the vibrations until another click turns Galan off.
Galan is water resistant but not waterproof, so he can be cleaned under running water but he should not be used in the shower or bath. If his base comes into prolonged contact with water or moisture, the compartment should be opened and allowed to dry before batteries are reinserted.
Although Galan is made of silicone, he can’t be put in the dishwasher or boiled since he has a motor. The instructions recommend cleaning him with a mild soap and water. If you plan to share Galan, a condom should be used.
Galan is packaged in a simple box, with a plastic window through which he’s visible inside. The back flap opens for product information, and has a diagram of the toy, as well as a diagram for the base removal.
An instruction pamphlet in several languages is included, as well as battery removal instructions and a sample pack of Toy Fluid, a water-based lubricant.
I found Galan to work well with rechargeable batteries, which was encouraging. The battery compartment is quite a challenge however. I have difficulty removing it every time. Galan doesn’t seem to drain batteries excessively though, and I think it may get easier (or I will become more adept at it) over time.
I tried Galan out alone first, and I really liked the dial placement. So often I find that when the control is on the bottom that I change the speed by mistake. With Galan’s control on the side I didn’t have this problem. I like to use him on his maximum vibration, and it’s easy to tell when it’s there. I do wish he had a bit more power, but he is able to get me off.
My husband also likes Galan’s dial placement, although he would prefer if Galan had more of a base to hang on to.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it3 months after original review
I still really like Galan. My only issue with him is his base. Sometimes I can get it off easily, other times I feel like I'm a child fighting with a child-proof cap.
I have found that Galan does work well with rechargeable batteries, and I typically use them with him.
