Bullet vibrator
by We-vibe

Delightfully spicy!

Bullet lovers rejoice! Salsa's features bring the heat. This little toy is ahead of the pack and poses a compelling triple threat: a full 5 vrooms, rechargeability, and a body-safe smooth plastic body. While not without its flaws, the pros of the Salsa far outweigh the cons. This toy is true to its appearance: if it looks like you'll love it, you probably will.

Use

The We-Vibe Salsa was designed with the clit in mind. However, it's a versatile little device- it could please anyone's anatomy, regardless of what parts they're packing. External play is its forte, it can be run over a clitoris and vulva or a penis and balls and provide strong, enjoyable vibrations. By extension, nipple play or stimulation of other erogenous zones is easy with this toy.

For those who like shallow penetration or lots of stimulation around the vaginal opening (over, say, pressure to the G-spot or around the cervix) the Salsa is safely insertable and can be used like a wearable bullet during play. It's possible to slip it in entirely and partner it with another clit vibe, an anal toy or a partner's tongue/hands/etc.

I wouldn't recommend the Salsa for "stacking" double penetration, i.e., placing it on top of a slim dildo then inserting them both. The Salsa's vibrations are very "shaky" to the point where it would jump around on top of the other toy and possibly irritate or hurt the vagina rather than lending to satisfactory play.

On the note of what not to do with this toy, never use it anally. It should work for outer stimulation just fine but if inserted its lack of flared base means it could get easily lost within your body.

Material / Texture

The We-Vibe Salsa has a plastic body; aside from the silicone touchpad on the bottom. The plastic is smooth and very slick whereas the silicone feels somewhat velvety.

tiny and shiny!

There's no smell to the toy at all, and it has the faintest of plastic tastes.

For compatibility with lubes and such, see "care and maintenance."

Design / Shape / Size

Bigger than most bullets but petite overall, the Salsa stands at 3.5" and has a circumference of 2". I use it mainly for clitoral stimulation but due to my very shallow g-spot (if inserted properly) I can get good pinpoint stimulation with it internally. Its vibrations stand out in most fields I've tested it in, and I believe that this will stand true for most users.

It features a small pinpoint tip and sides that can serve for slightly broader stimulation. It's easy to grip the toy either as you would a pencil or between your forefingers.

we vibe vs pencil size comparison

This toy isn't really discreet. It has a classic bullet shape and looks... well, like a bullet. It's somewhere between a rabbit and more unreadable toys like the MiMi in terms of appearance. It's easy to hide, however, due to its small size. Unless you leave it out in an obvious location you're unlikely to run into scrutiny.

There's no travel lock, but I've stashed it in my bags and even in my pocket sans problems. The button, while not hard to push in general, is hard to activate accidentally.

Now, to my biggest complaint about the Salsa: its charging ports.

The metal of the ports is exposed. This hasn't been a problem with toys of mine in the past, namely those in the JeJoue product line. However, these ports seem very sensitive to lube, juices, and becoming "dirty" in the slightest. I actually thought that my toy was broken because it refused to connect to the charger after a few short sessions of play. I adjusted the cord a bit and the charging light lit, so I thought, that's that, I was doing it wrong somehow. After that incident the problems persisted, the toy would charge improperly and fizz out after 5-10 minutes of use. I contacted We-Vibe and they told me to swab the ports with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol whenever I encountered this issue. Thankfully, this fixed the problem entirely. I do wish, however, that We-Vibe would consider magnetic charging through a plastic shield such as the Fun Factory Click n' Charge system.

Problematic ports!

All of that said, when properly cared for the Salsa charges like a dream. The magnet's hold is strong and both the lighted base and cord have worked faithfully over my 3 months of ownership. The sole issue was cleaning the ports, which was a small price to pay for a vibrator of this strength and overall quality.

The charging light is eye-catching but not too eye-catching, so it stands out but can be concealed under a bed or behind other furniture pieces.
charging light!
It could be negated with electrical tape in close shared living spaces where the light could possibly give the toy away to others, it's not overbearingly strong.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Oh, the vibrations of this little toy. The Salsa produces powerful, rumbly vibrations, its first setting feels like middle or higher-middle fare from my other multispeed vibrators.

It has four level vibration settings and four patterns. They can be cycled through by pressing the button on the bottom, and can only cycle up, so if you pass a setting you have to cycle back through. I actually didn't find this as annoying as I thought I would, as the button is easy to press and the motor responds rapidly to changes. Thankfully, you don't also need to cycle to turn the toy off, you can achieve that by holding the button down for 2 seconds.

The speeds and patterns are as follows:

1- Moderate vibration
2- Moderate/strong vibration
3- Strong vibration
4- Strongest vibration
5- Strongest vibration in even pulses (-- -- -- --)
6- Rollercoaster
7- Strongest vibration in faster even pulses (- - - - -)
8- Rhythmic pulsations (--, --, - - -, --, --, - - -)

Patterns have never done it for me, I've occasionally toyed with the rollercoaster setting as a buildup but stopped in favor of the steady settings out of boredom. For those enamored with patterns though, this does offer a fair variety and for the sake of science I tried them all and can attest that they feel very distinct from one another in use.

The vibrations occasionally numbed my hand, but it dissipated in 10 minutes or so as opposed to over the course of...say, a few days (not naming names, but I have experienced this with a few toys in my past). Overall the experience tended to distract from the numbing to where I'd only notice it after use and be too blissful to be annoyed.

This toy performs excellently in water and is fully waterproof as advertised. I don't do bath or shower play often but I've washed it frequently with my silicone insertable toys in a small tub and seen no decline in its performance after a good 10 extended immersions.

The Salsa has the sort of power you would expect answered by 4 or 5 bees. Surprisingly, it's a 1-2 across the settings. I have difficulty hearing it when using it under a blanket, and even when I left it rattling across my bare mattress and stepped out of my room I couldn't catch a hint of it at all.

Care and Maintenance

This toy is overall very easy to take care of. Being made of plastic it's compatible with water, oil, and silicone based lubes alike; and can be washed with soap or toy cleaner.

Take care of the ports by swabbing them down, either when you notice them becoming messy or when you notice something funky with the charge. Apparently complaints such as mine are fielded by We-Vibe a lot, and I wish that they would just include a formal warning on the box or their website...but then again, there's not really an appealing way to phrase it. "You may have to meticulously swab your cum from this device after use"? I don't know, sounds like a good pitch to me.

The Salsa shouldn't create material-related issues on any level when used in conjunction with other toys.

Lint isn't particularly attracted to this vibrator. Being as smooth as it is it could be stored just about anywhere with no ill effects- however, it comes with a handy drawstring pouch to store it in to keep it particularly particle-free.

Packaging

The packaging for the We-Vibe is mercifully free of any erotic body parts...but that's not really a saving grace on the discreetness front.

The package shows off what is pretty clearly a bullet vibrator- and contains multilingual information on its use.

outer packaging

Inside are plastic forms holding the charger components and the vibrator itself, along with a reasonably comprehensive product manual that would be useful for anyone without much prior knowledge of the Salsa's functions. The box also contains a small, somewhat silky drawstring bag- I used it for a bit but got rid of it because it felt cheap to me, but others might find it very handy in storing their toy.

Follow-up commentary
I ended up giving this little guy to an ex-partner (the fate of too many of my toys...).

That said, I need to get myself another one ASAP! It was one of my all-time favorite toys, 10/10, got me off every time.

The cleaning issue actually improved with time and was, in my opinion, a tiny and mostly unobtrusive design flaw.

I'd definitely recommend this toy to my friends, strangers, anyone who asked...

Such a tiny bullet packing such a big punch is hard to find!
