Campus G: The average student

This is a basic g-spot vibrator that is perfect for the beginner or anyone who wants to experiment with g-spot stimulation. That said, the design can make it hard to hit that perfect spot. It also had some imperfections in the material that may compromise its long term use. Overall, it is great for someone who doesn't want to spend a whole lot of money on a fancier vibrator, when they just want something pretty basic to try out. In the school of vibrators, it's an average student on campus.

Use

The Campus G vibrator is designed with a wider base with nubs to tickle the outer vaginal area such as the labia and clitoris, while the shaft has a woman's g-spot in mind. However, "in mind" does not always translate well into reality. This is not a one size fits all vibe. Normally, larger vibes can be daunting and even mildly painful for myself. I figured that a smaller vibe might work better and hit just the right spot, since I tend to be a bit tighter/shallower than a lot of vibes allow. While the Campus G was nice, I'm still looking for that perfect fit. It would work well for anyone who wants an introduction to g-spot play or a simple vibe without all the bells and whistles, because of the smaller size and simple features. However, a more experienced toy owner may be disappointed. Also, ironically the Campus G should probably not be used by those with campus/roommate living because it was fairly loud and not so discreet.

Material / Texture

The Campus G has a TPE shaft with a plastic base. Therefore, it is free of the ickies--phthalates and allergen-causing agents such as latex. However, it is still somewhat porous, so you must use a condom when sharing toys. Sharing is caring, unless you share an STI.

When I first opened the box, I immediately noticed a light rubbery/plastic odor. Upon washing the toy, the odor mostly disappeared, although it is still there if you put your nose to it. The texture of the material is pretty smooth, with nubs along the widened base. I believe the idea of the nubs was to provide extra stimulation to the outer vaginal area, although I do not believe they made much of a difference.

My biggest complaint with the material was that there is a slight seam running down the shaft from the mold they used to make it. Mine also had a bumpy hole area under the tip of the shaft, where there likely was an air bubble or something during production. Because of the flexibility of the toy, I am afraid that the toy may rip at some point along that spot, since it stretches when bent. Additionally, it attracts pet hair like a magnet. I had to wash the toy after use, and then wash it again right before use to remove the pet hair. However, this is a fairly common problem with any material other than hard plastic.

Design / Shape / Size

This toy has a flexible curved shaft for g-spot stimulation, a wider base to stimulate the external vaginal area, and a turn dial at the very bottom to increase or decrease the speed. The length of the vibe is a total of 7 inches while only 3 1/4 of that is insertable. The smaller size makes this vibrator great for someone smaller or a beginner who just wants to experiment. However, I felt it was rather difficult to hit just the right spot due to the flexibility and short length. A slightly harder material would have helped keep it on just the right spot, or a slightly longer length would have given it more mobility to reach it. Overall, it wasn't bad, just a bit frustrating. In the end, I found it most pleasurable to use the flexibility to my advantage and rotate my hips/circle the toy within me to get the right angle and hit the most pleasurable spots.

While it has a smaller insertable size, the toy is still fairly long and large. Subsequently it is not particularly discreet for travel or easier to hide than a normal 7 inch vibrator. The length after the nubs does give it a good handle though, so a smaller vibe in general would not allow you to have as good of a grip for thrusting action. The turn dial also has ridges so you can still adjust the speed even if you are all lubed up. I'd give the design an A for effort, since some of the flaws are made up for in convenience.

Functions / Performance / Controls

As mentioned above, the Campus G vibrator is powered by a turn dial at the very base of the toy, which allows you to adjust the speed at any time. Unlike single-button vibrators, you can make the vibrations faster/stronger or slower/weaker in either direction at any time without having to cycle through them and turn it off in the process. The dial is pretty sensitive so you may accidentally turn it during play when you least want it, but it is easily corrected. The vibrations occur in the center of the shaft, which allows the tip to be more flexible and have its own tickling sensations along your body.

This vibe does not have any frills, so it just has a speed level of low to high (and everything in between). There are no patterns or pulsations to worry about. If that is your thing, then this is not the vibe for you. If that doesn't really matter, and you just want pure vibration, this one will work. I was surprised at how strong the vibrations were for such a simple, small vibe. I was also surprised at how noisy it was. The power made up for some of the noise, but it is definitely not particularly discreet.

One benefit is that the toy is waterproof, so you could always take it in the shower with you if you need some privacy. It has a rubbery ring around the battery compartment that prevents water from leaking in as long as the cap is screwed on tight. I did notice a slight twist in ring, so that it does not lay perfectly flat on mine. While it kept the water out so far, I am not sure how it will hold up over time. I probably could remove it and fix it, but I don't want to chance it with the water if I do that. I will just have to see how it holds up in the follow-up review.

Care and Maintenance

This toy is pretty easy to clean. You just need mild soap and water or toy cleaner. Be advised, you will need to pay attention to the area between the nubs and along the seam to make sure it is fully cleaned. Because of the pet hair thing, I store all my toys in a plastic zip locked bag. It prevents lint and pet hair from settling on it. From there, you can store it however you like--in a pretty toy chest, in your night stand, or wherever works best for you and your lifestyle. It also works well with your lube preferences, since you can use either water- or silicone-based lubricant.

Packaging

The packaging was pretty standard. It had a picture of a woman wearing a pink shirt and panties under the title "Shane's World Campus G". You could also see the vibrator directly through the clear packaging. It was easy to open, almost too easy, since the sides just unsnap to open it up. No scissors were needed to free it. You could probably store it in the packaging, but I feel it takes up more space. The packaging did not contain any instructions, but it was so easy to figure out they weren't needed. You simply unscrew the bottom to open the battery compartment. There, the sides are labeled so you know how to insert the 2 AA batteries. Simply screw the cap back on and turn the dial to start playing.
