Bumpy Bliss

This toy is the most adorable thing, especially when it is in it's hard plastic case, but with her buzzy vibrations and controls that are easy to hit at just the WRONG moment this toy may have to continue to be adorable on my shelf, instead of in my bed.

Use

Bliss is a great toy for penetration but not great for an all over body massage or clitoral massage. Her tip is rather flexible so it would be a bit hard to apply firm pressure to any specific area and her shape is clearly designed to be inserted. Although Bliss is very tempting to use anally with her smooth rounded bulges I would recommend against it as she does not have a flared base. Luckily there are plenty of other toys that are comparable in size and style (for example The Ripple by Tantus) but also have a flared base to keep your play safe.

Bliss runs on two AAA batteries and as a result her vibrations are on the weaker end and somewhat buzzy and focused in the tip of the toy (more on that later). She is also waterproof so it is easy to enjoy Bliss in the bath or shower.

Material / Texture

After the popularity of Evolved Novelties Bliss they took that line and reworked it, using the ever popular silicone as opposed to ABS plastic. As you might know, silicone is rated a 10 on the safety scale because it is non-porous and phthalate free. It is also easily sanitized and although you can boil silicone without damaging the material you want to avoid this for any toy with a motor.

The switch from ABS to silicone also created many other benefits. First and foremost silicone is much softer than ABS, which makes the shaft softer and more flexible. The bottom half of the toy will not bend as it houses the battery compartment, and the motor is located in the head of the toy so that leaves the top inch and a half as stiff, but the area in between is extremely flexible.

I was quite disappointed to find a very prominent seem up one side of the toy and down the other. It can be easily felt by hand but not at all when inserted, its mostly just an esthetic complaint. It's even a bit tough to see in the picture.

Icky Seam

The particular silicone they choose does seem to have quite a bit of drag but it's nothing that can't be fixed with some water-based lube. As with most silicone toys, Bliss has no taste or smell, but can occasionally retain the scent of the any scented wipe or soap I use to clean her (though it's faint and you really need to look for it).

The base of the toy is made of hard plastic with the Evolved logo on it, this is also where access to the battery compartment and the controls are located.

Design / Shape / Size

The reason I choose this toy was because I was looking to experiment with distinctive textures. Bliss is about six inches insertable, with a rounded tip that is about an inch long, from there she tapers in, and then out to a second, third, and fourth bulge (each about an inch long) and the final two inches are smooth. The bulges get slightly larger as you progress down the shaft, the first bulge has a circumference of 3.5" and the last bulge is just under 4.5".

Measurement

I think the size of this toy and simplicity of the design makes her great for beginners to try out their first textured toy. The four simple bulges will give the user a chance to see how they feel about a toy that isn't totally smooth, but they are not distinct enough to ruin the user's experience. With a more prominent design there is a risk that if you don't like it you are left with a useless toy, but that is not the case with Bliss so it's a great starter.

This toy is not discreet but its vibrant purple color and bubbly design is so darn adorable I have no concern about leaving it out, especially in its case.

Functions / Performance / Controls

My only complaint with the quality of Bliss lies within the controls. She has a simple control scheme (not unique to this toy) in which Bliss is controlled with one push button on the base of the vibe. In the past I have not been a fan of this style of control but something made me decide to try it anyway, unfortunately I was disappointed once again. When I use a toy I tend to situate my hand on the base of the vibe and with this control style it is very common for me to accidentally hit the button and switch to a different speed, or worse, turn off the toy. She does not have any functions, only three speeds and you can cycle through them with the single button on the base. The only way to turn the toy off is to cycle through the three speeds, she does not have an emergency 'kill switch.'

Controls

The motor is located in the tip and the vibrations do not travel well down the body of the toy---they are about halved by the time you reach the fourth bump on the shaft! This may seem like it's not that much of a problem for clitoral stimulation but I find that the softness and flexibility of the toy makes it difficult to apply any pressure to specific areas, such as the clitoris or the G-spot. Although the Bliss has three speeds it was surprisingly difficult to feel the difference between them, especially between the middle and high. Although it is not overwhelmingly powerful, it is quiet and can barely be heard through a blanket and would be almost impossible to hear through a door.

Bliss has an O-ring protecting the battery compartment and making her waterproof. It was a bit hard to see at first, but it's there. Inside the compartment is a clear plastic sleeve to aid in the placement of the two AAA batteries required to power Bliss. I found it was very easy too accidentally not tighten the battery cover all the way, and if this happens the toy does not turn on. At first I thought mine was broken but this turned out to be the case.

Care and Maintenance

Bliss is very simple to care for. After use simply wash her off with antibacterial soap and warm water, and be sure to rinse well, but luckily there aren't any nooks or crannies where debris can build up. To sterilize, simply wash her in a 10% bleach solution. Like most other silicone toys, Bliss is notorious for attracting hair and lint like it's her job so be sure to store her in a safe place and rinse her before each use. The case she comes in makes a perfect storage unit.

Packaging

The packaging for Bliss is by far the cutest I've seen in a long time, and also makes great case for storage. She comes standing up in a hard clear plastic case. The case does not have much information other than listing the toy as silicone, waterproof, and a "novelty only". Bliss is stood up in the container by a small piece of plastic the fits between the battery compartment and the toy. This piece of plastic then screws firmly into the case so it can stand on its own without pushing the button on the base.

Adorable Packaging
    • Good for storage
    • Not discreet
    • Would make a nice gift

Experience

I found this toy to be a bit thin for my own personal tastes but she should be fine for other users as she is about an average girth. She makes a wonderful beginner toy because of her size but since she was thinner than I am used to (I usually use a toy with a 4.75 diameter, and Bliss is only 4.5 at the very widest point, the rest is 3.5) the texture was not overtly prominent for me. It was enough of a tease though to tempt me to purchase a textured toy with more girth as I am now interested to experiment further. I had heard that some people could use the bulb at the tip to reach their G-Spot but the flexibility of the shaft made this difficult for me.

Great job with your second review I wholeheartedly understand how frustrating the "whoops I pushed the button when I just wanted to push it in" thing can be---and I'm sorry this wasn't quite thick enough for you, but I'm glad you know now to check out some more textures
