Kegel exerciser

All Kegel Exercisers are not made Equal

Despite claims of 'hands-free pleasure' and 'working for every woman', the Evi is not a 'one size fits all' sort of kegel toy. If your anatomy is better suited to this toy, and you can orgasm from g-spot stimulation and having pressure/tapping on your clit, though, you may love it! For me, I'm sticking with my Luna Beads.

Use

The Evi is a kegel toy, made by Aneros. To use the Evi, you insert it into your vagina, and clench your kegel muscles around it, strengthening your muscles, and (hopefully) stimulating your g-spot and clit at the same time, due to the Evi's shape. The Evi is a fairly small toy, and the external portion isn't that large, so you could potentially wear this at any time during your day to day routine without anyone noticing.

Material / Texture

The Evi is made of pure silicone, with all the normal perks to that material. There were no odd scents to the toy or material when I opened the box. The texture is slightly matte, described by Aneros as being 'velvet touch' and has some drag to it. Because of the finish, I'd recommend using some lube when you insert the Evi, unless you are someone who is naturally very wet. There wasn't any seams to bother me during use, though there is raised printing on the side of the 'arm' part of the toy. Luckily, it wasn't a problem as the texture didn't rub against me in any way.

The toy is very firm with little give. The 'neck' portion of the toy does have some flexibility, but it's minimal.

Design / Shape / Size

The Evi looks like a rounded butt plug, but with only one flared arm on the base. Given that Aneros has only made male anal toys up until now, I'm both amused and not terribly surprised by the shape. The insertable portion is 3 inches long, and has a diameter of 1.5 inches. It's definitely an average sized diameter, so should be compatible` for more women. The 'plug' portion tapers into an inch long 'neck', and then widens into the flared arm portion. The flared arm is 2.75 inches long, and the shape is a bit like round edged and elongated triangle.

Performance

So, I'm sure you're all waiting to find out how the Evi works. Well, the truth is...it doesn't. At least, not for me. The shape is great, yeah, and I suppose if I was capable of orgasming from clenching my PC muscles while having my clit tapped by a silicone arm, it would work out for me. Or at least it would if the shape actually fit my body. The shape of the insertable portion completely misses my g-spot, and the arm isn't nearly long enough to rub against my clit. I wouldn't be annoyed by this if it wasn't for the fact that my g-spot is pretty easy to find, and this toy's shape looks like it should work well for stimulating it.

Care and Maintenance

Evi is pure silicone, so taking care of it is really simple. Silicone can be washed with soap and water (I use antibacterial soap for day to day toy cleaning) or put through the dishwasher. If you use the dishwasher, be sure to put it on the top shelf, and not use soap during the cleaning cycle. Or, for deep cleaning, you can either boil your toy or wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution.

Silicone lubes may react negatively with silicone toys, so you should use water based lubricants, or 'spot test' a tiny bit of the silicone lube with your toy. If there's no reaction (the toy's material turning sticky, melting, etc), you should be good!

While the Evi came with a lot of packaging, storage space is at a premium in my home, so I just tossed it in a plastic baggie and put it with my other toys.

Packaging

I have to hand it to Aneros, they have pretty epic packaging. The Evi arrived in a white pearly textured box that had a red sleeve keeping it closed. This, however, was only the outer box. The inner box is red, has magnetized flaps keeping it closed, and has an indented nest to keep the Evi in.

As a side note, the instruction manual repeatedly triggered one of my pet peeves: when people refer to sex toys as 'he' or 'she'. It just seems coy, and when you are a sex toy company or a writer, coyness isn't cute. Well, the entire instruction manual that Aneros included is written referring to the toy as 'she' and 'her'. Really? I'm putting a sex toy inside of me. Not a tiny human shaped as a sex toy. Cut out the gendered pronouns and use nouns, please!

The instructions say that the Evi is the first of it's kind. A hand free, body-inspired pleasure massager that will hit the g-spot and clit without vibes. "You can control the pace and pressure with a riveting rocking of your hips or a tantalizing twirl. With the incredibly versatile Evi, you are only limited by your imagination." Well, my imagination is pretty good, but I couldn't make it work for me.

Experience

When the Evi was inserted, the arm of the toy was too short to reach my clit. It actually didn't even reach the base of my clit, so the 'tapping' motion ended up hitting some of my labia piercing jewelery, but nothing else. The plug/insertable portion somehow manages to completely bypass my g-spot when it's inserted, thus destroying my only hope for this redeeming itself as a fun teasing/foreplay sort of toy. It didn't matter how hard I clenched my kegels, what sort of position I was in (standing, sitting, doing the Macarena), the Evi was just...kinda there. Like a butt plug that doesn't quite fit the way you want it to, so you can't completely ignore, but it also isn't feeling bad or good. It's just there.
Follow-up commentary
And off to the trade pile Evi goes. I just can't make this toy work for me, which is a pity. I think it's a great shape, it just won't fit my body.

@Bleu For what it is, the Evi really is pricy. I don't think Aneros is going to do as well as they had hoped with sales at that price!

I was contacted by an Aneros rep a few weeks ago...turns out they're redesigning the Evi based on all the reviews!
