A luxury vibe that nearly does some things it tries to do
It breaks my heart not to like this toy. It's well built, well thought out, and feels really nice in the hand. But for us it just doesn't work well enough at its intended purpose to be worth the high price. Love the remote, but it's not terribly sexy to use. Love the idea of a vibe we can use during sex, but it's just not that comfortable. It's not bad, exactly, but it's just not as good as I'd hope and the price tag implies. Maybe the Tiani 3.

Pros
Luxury fit and finish, great vibration engine, wonderful surface, awesome remote.
Cons
Shaped wrong for primary purpose, too loud for many public applications.
It's a couples toy, something like the We-Vibe. It's designed so that the long, thin, non-vibrating section goes into the vagina and the vibrating section rests on the clit. It's meant to give the lady some clitoral vibration stimulation while also giving the man more friction and an interesting sensation. It succeeds at least partially. This is a toy that has a lot going for it, but falls short in a couple important areas. I don't dislike it, exactly, but it could definitely improve.
This toy is definitely high end. The silicone (Sterilizeable! Body safe!) is just the right combination of soft and rough; it feels solid and well built. The gold band around the middle is a very nice touch. Taken as a whole it's a toy you feel good about owning. But. There's always a "but". Once you remove the interchangeable insertable sections the plastic threads thus revealed are a bit chintzy feeling and the charger interface (plug a charger into the unscrewed end of the vibrating section)feels a little less than elegant. Not the end of the world, though. I do sometimes worry about the waterproofness of that connection, but in practice it hasn't been any sort of issue so I'll let it pass.
The remote is a significant part of the toy. It's a small puck, about the size of a big cookie. It syncs with the Tiani, and lets you access the controls from a distance. It's fun. It can be a little finicky about syncing, and the process is a bit involved, so keep your manual, but it's not bad. I usually remember how it goes with a little fiddling, and just as I'm about to get the manual out I get it working. I've never had it drop connection or send a wrong signal. A nice feature is that the remote vibrates in time with the toy so you never have to count clicks or guess what setting it's on. Which is good because there are two unique modes of control that rely on that feedback. One lets you control intensity of vibration by tilt. Horizontal is minimum and vertical is maximum. Love this setting. It's very fluid, very natural to make pulses and rhythmic rises and falls. You can do pretty much anything and it'll follow your lead. It can be a pain to lock in a setting once you're ready to go at it, but I've always found a place to lean it that got me where I wanted to go. A lock button would have been nice, but you can't have everything. The other unique mode takes how hard you shake the remote and translates that into vibration intensity. It takes a pretty good arm movement to keep it at max. This seems like a gimmick, but I suppose if you were out dancing it'd be fun. Fortunately, for everyday use you can just use the recessed button on top of the vibration unit to control it. It has three levels of constant vibration and a handful of decent patterns and, at least for me, I seldom really want to control it remotely. If it were quieter I'd use it out in public more, but it's not terribly discreet.
Noise and use. This is a fairly quiet vibe. Not whisper quiet, not wear it to a restaurant quiet (which was, unfortunately our hope), but definitely use it when your roommate is outside the door quiet. Maybe even use under blankets when your roommate is across the room quiet. Here's the big deal, the remote vibrates louder then the toy. I can't imagine using the remote in anything but the loudest room without someone calling you out on it or at least looking at you funny. So it hasn't gotten worn out of the house yet, more's the pity.
Feeling. The insertable section is firm silicone that holds its shape but flexes easily, the vibrating section is hard. It's also a little sharp pointed with pronounced edges. The wife sometimes complains that its pokey. Mostly when the battery is wearing down and the vibrations are getting a little weak, but still it doesn't have the smooth softness of the We-Vibe that it's definitely going to get compared to. The silicone surface is easy to clean and just textured enough to give you some friction.
It can be fun for bondage play. If I'm not near her then it stays put on her clit and I can vary the vibrations remotely and that keeps her guessing. The vibration unit is strong and rumbly and works great as a small, easily maneuvered bullet with or without the insertable ends attached, I love that it's rechargeable and it's just darn pretty to look at. Makes me want to try other Lelo toys.

Experience
Man, these couples vibes seem like the best idea ever. Use them during sex, remote control them for surprise buzzing out on a date, spice up our love life, clean the house. None of them I've tried have ever lived up to the hype and the Tiani 2 is no exception. If you try to use it during couples sex you'd better get out the lube and expect an edge catching, out sliding, clit missing good time. I will say that the sensation of entering the wife with something else there is interesting, but really it's mostly uncomfortable. It caught me funny, never quite hit her clit and tended to slosh around uncomfortably for both of us. And when, exactly, during partner sex do you have a free hand for the remote? Seldom. Basically for the intended purpose this thing falls really flat. At least for me.
So, at the end of this much too long review, can I recommend it? Unless you need a remote vibrator for home use or use in a loud environment (and really like the idea of either the tilt or shake controls), no. But for those applications it's basically perfect. For everything else there's something out there that beats this and costs much less.

Great review, thanks! We just got one of these too, and we're still playing with it to figure it out, but so far feeling like "is that all there is?"

I understand. So close. So well built, so strangely useless at the end of the day. I'm getting to think that the partner vibes are just kind of not for me.

Thank you for the review!! I've always been curious about these

If you're not totally entranced by the remote control being able to do the tilt thing and the action thing then go with the We Vibe 3. Better in pretty much every way. Unless you REALLY want to minimize the amount of stuff inserted. Then this one is better.

Good review!
