A Functional Failure
This toy serves its intended g-spot reaching purpose and very well at that. But, I really don't like it; its speed range was lacking, there is a very visible seam on the bullet shaped head, the g-spot stimulating bullet at the end is not molded from the same piece of plastic, and it's incredibly uncomfortable to use.

Pros
Waterproof, fairly safe velvet cote plastic, hits g-spot really well, and attractive
Cons
Visible seams, head isn't molded into one piece, uncomfortable, painful to use, and too long
Jenna's Velvet G is an unusually shaped g-spot stimulating velvet cote plastic vibrator. At first glance it is very attractive (I got the purple, which I'd consider more fuchsia), as is the packaging- a clear box featuring Jenna Jameson.
The first time I tried this toy, I took it into the shower. I loaded it with 2 new AA batteries and applied a silicone lube so that it would stay slippery in water. The toy has a thick water poof seal inside the battery cap. Since I was standing, I used it as a clit vibe. The toy is easy to use this way in this position because the control dial is facing up. The velvet cote also makes it less slippery in the water. The water seal did great as there were no signs of water in the battery case when I opened it to check afterward.
The vibrations on this toy can be controlled by the dial at the base of the toy and it starts at what I would consider medium-low speed. However, when turned all the way up, it didn't even go up to a medium-high. While the high speed was enough to get me off, as a clit toy after a decent while of trying, it's still a very short range of speeds.
I've also used this toy lying in bed, attempting to reach my g-spot, since that what the toy is meant for. I lubed it up with silicone again; although, this material can be used with any lube you like. Getting this toy inside and controlling it from that position were just plain uncomfortable. Despite how nicely the velvet cote moves against flesh, the toy is an odd shape. The mid-section and base of the shaft are on the wider side; I would have preferred it more slender.
When you look at the toy, you can see that it is made of 2 pieces of plastic - the shaft and the stimulator which are fused together. Since this seam was so apparent, it makes me nervous that it could come apart. The toy is also 9" long which seems unnecessary as a g-spot toy because my g-spot is not anywhere close to 9" into my vagina. When you're trying to control the vibrations while the toy is only inserted to the g-spot region, it's very awkward. The bullet also felt like it was poking the walls of my vagina at a weird angle, in addition to definitely rubbing my pubic bone the wrong way. For those that don't even like a really strongly defined head on a dildo, this is definitely not the toy for you.
Despite all of these flaws in the use of the toy, there is one huge perk: it works! This toy found my g-spot easily and immediately; although, the vibrations aren't that strong, they are plenty for my g-spot. It took just a minute or two to get me off; it really is shaped just right to do this one job. Unfortunately, once I was finished, it's twice as uncomfortable to remove as it is to insert. The 'V' shape between the oblong head and thinly tapered top shaft make it a little painful the whole way out.
I tested this one out for those living in close quarters. If I piled 2 pillows over it, it could just barely be heard. If you had it under the covers with a door closed, it would be just barely audible. The sound of the shower also drowned out quite a bit of the noise; so that, combined with a closed door, would probably also be safe for most. It is on the large side and turns on very easily when batteries are inserted; so it's probably not best for tossing in a purse or traveling with. As with most penetrating toys, the noise level does go down when it's inserted.
The velvet cote plastic is so easy to clean; washing with antibacterial soap and water do the trick. If you have any intention of sharing this toy use a condom because, although the phthalate-free plastic is just barely porous, it can still carry bacteria. My biggest cleaning complaint with this toy is that around the oblong g-spot stimulator, there is a seam in the coating that's a little rough. It's too small to be felt; even though I tend to feel very small details in toys, it concerns me that bacteria could be hiding there from my washing process. Just to be safe, I take a little synthetic bristled nailbrush to that area when I wash it. I keep it in a bag inside my toy box as the original packaging wasn't really worth keeping

Experience
If I had to go back and do it again, I'd choose a less drastically shaped toy or something with a similar shape but a less rigid material. If you're desperate to track down the elusive g-spot, this may work for you, but be warned it packs more downsides than I think that one highlight is worth.
I also tend to consider most g-spot toys as a candidate for p-spot stimulation on my man (condom covered, of course). But this toy has no flared base which makes it a big no-no; even if it did, if the shape is that uncomfortable in a vagina, I wouldn't be willing to risk hurting him by putting it into that less forgiving area.

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
This one is remaining at the bottom of my toy box. As smooth and buzzy as it might be, it's just too uncomfortable for regular use and not worth trying to not injure myself while using it.
