I love the Amber wave. The Amber wave is like Jesus descended on his raptor, and designed a glass probe. There really isn't anything bad to say about her, except that she doesn't want to cuddle afterwards.

Pros
Inexpensive. Easy to clean. Textured. Ideal material for temperature play. Good beginners toy.
I don't even know where to start! The Amber Wave is amazing. She is 9 inches of yummy, slithery goodness that left me squirming. Personally, I found it to be best used anally, since there is a taper at the end (mine actually is slimmer at the tale), and it can be sort of slippery when it's lubed up and used vaginally. The bumps that go down the shaft of Amber feel amazing both vaginally or anally, but it's the curve of the snake that I found best for anal play. The shape of the wave made this toy nearly completely no-slip, no matter how much lube I put, or how much I clenched.
Even though the wave is only 9 inches (8 inches of insertable length), as there is no flare at the bottom, I highly encourage users to insert this no more than two-thirds of the way the first few times it's used, to make sure it can be retrieved later, since there are no built-in safeties to prevent it from disappearing. I also would exercise caution in terms of thrusting too hard either vaginally or anally, as this is made of glass, and you wouldn't want to hurt anything internally.
Being glass, there is also the opportunity to use this for temperature play, putting it in the fridge or warm water. As always, use common sense - just because you can get it up to 140 degrees or down to freezing, doesn't mean you should put that temperature anywhere in your body.
Amber is made from Pyrex glass, which is notorious for withstanding extreme temperatures. (Remember that clear casserole dish that your mom used to make gross tuna casserole in? Yeah, that's probably Pyrex.) Because it's Pyrex, rest assured that you won't be able to break this inside of you or your partner.
The material is nice, sleek, and completely non-porous. Even the little bumps around the head and down the shaft don't have any nooks or crannies that could cause scratches or anything else. Because we're working with glass, there is absolutely no give at all in the wave, making this ideal for finding those spots that you just can't find without a bit of pressure.
I would highly recommend this shape, size, and amount of texture for beginners in glass play, but the wave of the shaft and the little nubs along her back make Amber a pleasure for advanced users, as well.
In case you cannot tell by now, I LOVE Amber. I love her shape, her curve, her girth and her texture. I would absolutely not change anything about this toy. For my personal use, it is strictly for anal and clitoral play (sliding the little bumps up and down my clitoris was an amazing sensation, although it doesn't lead me to orgasm). That being said, for individuals wanting to use it for g-spot or vaginal use, I would venture to say it's probably quite a bit too thin in girth. Aside from the bulbous shape of the snake's "head", I'd compare the girth with that of a super-plus tampon. It really isn't thick, at all.
Because of the shape, Amber actually is one of those toys that you could leave out on a coffee table or a book shelf and no one would balk at it. It really is shaped like a hand-blown glass snake, and even if it weren't something that made my ass very happy, I would still love it just because it's so freakin' cute!
Note that in the photo, she has yellow bumps and red swirls around the head, but in mine there is red everywhere.
My favorite part of the wave is exactly that - the wave. For anal play, this is my favorite. I find a dime sized drop of lube right on the head of the snake, coupled with the smooth texture of the glass, is enough lubrication for insertion. Personally, I like to twirl it in a circle more than thrust it in and out, or even just let it stay there, as if it were a plug.
Being glass, there are so many ways to clean this, including bleach/water solution, boiling, top-shelf dishwasher, one of those microwave sterilizers, simple soap and water. Hell, you could probably just slather it with Purell. I kid, but it really is nearly that easy to keep clean, so this toy would be one ideal for sharing, as well. You can use anything for lube, as well, and there will be no degradation of the product. You'll be 85 and still have the same glass probe you had when you were 25.
This toy came in a simple box, wrapped with secure bubble wrap, and then fit snugly into a (cheaply made) red velvet bag. My bag and snake differs from the one in the picture, as well as in the videos for other reviews. The eyes on mine are on the opposite side as the ridges along the back, so there's some stimulation on both sides of mine versus the eyes and ridges all being on the top side, as in the photos. As previously mentioned, mine also is all red, instead of a red and yellow combination. It's simply packaged, but still nicely enough that you could give this as a gift.
In case I haven't made myself clear enough thus far, I really, really dig this toy. It was one of my first experiences with glass, and will always be the primary reason that I now -really- love glass. It doesn't take much once she's in the picture to leave me writhing, and I have already referred this to my best friend. It's one of those toys that's unique enough, that you pass it on, because every woman deserves to cum like this toy is capable of doing.
I was lucky enough to get this toy on sale, at less than $8, but I would still happily pay the $25 that it usually sells for.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it21 days after original review
Yay! Just writing a follow-up about this toy reminds me of exactly how much I like it! I got to experience Amber this weekend for the first time with a partner, as he's been stationed elsewhere for awhile. It's not as enjoyable with a partner as it was for just myself, because of the lack of actual taper. He said he felt like he was going to lose it. I explained to him that the curves make it difficult for it to really move unless you're doing the moving, but he still wasn't comfortable with it. I still love it exactly as much as I did my first few go's, but for partnered sex, it's going to have to stay in the drawer.
