See how many 5 stars reviews this toy has? That's because it's an amazing toy that will work for a lot of different people. Ammongst those reviews, however, are the chosen few who just aren't going oogoley-eyed over Ella. I seem to be one of those people. I feel like this amazing toy will work for 9 out of 10 women, but 10% of us won't be able to see what the 90% is raving about.

Pros
Silicone, versatile, easy to care for, great packaging, double ended, colors
Cons
May be too curved or pointy for some, may be too flexible
Ella is a pretty little toy that Lelo puts out that everyone seems to love and endorse. It's a fairly petite dildo that comes in several different, mature colors. Unlike the usual pink and purple, this toy comes in white, black, or a deep rose color.
This toy is intended to be used for vaginal insertion. The two different ends are both insertable and comfortable to use, so you have a bit more variety than some single-sided toys. Because of the shape and the curve of this, it's great for g-spot play. A lot of women swear by being able to use this for awesome g-spot stimulation.
Because of the shape and size I would not recommend this for anal play. Even though it had a bit of a handle, it has no flared base and is made of slick silicone; I can just see this turning into an embarrassing emergency room story. Eden has plenty of toys that are intended for anal use with flared bases, so I would recommend perusing those instead of the Ella for back door play.
This toy is good for beginners who're looking for something to try out a toy with a bit of give without breaking the bank. It's small and sleek, and I feel like it has a lot of variety. It's a great toy to get an idea if this shape will work for your body.
As far as couple play goes, this gets a 'maybe' rating. If you and your partner have super good communication and they know not to get too rough, this would be good for partner play. On the other hand, this firm material would be fairly easy to bruise someone with, especially if the one thrusting gets a bit too excited.
This toy 100% passes Ryu's dorm seal of approval. Being a dildo, it has no noise level to speak of and it's completely waterproof. It's easy to take care of, and the storage pouch it comes with is ideal for tucking it into a drawer or overnighter.
This toy is made entirely of silicone, which is rated a 10 out of 10 on the Eden safety scale. Silicone is completely nonporous, which means that there is no way for bacteria to move past the surface of it this toy. silicone, along with other cleaning methods, can be boiled or wiped down with a 10% bleach solution to disinfect it. If you ever want to switch orifices or users, this is almost a neccesity.
The silicone itself is slightly soft and flexible. The shaft near the widest point (the 'neck') has the most give to it, but it doesn't really conform to your natural body shape. This flexibility of the shaft means that it's difficult to put intense pressure on your g-spot, but because of the curve I feel like not many women will want MORE pressure.
Being made of silicone, a bit of drag is natural. While I didn't find that I needed to use any lube in the shower, out side of the shower you may want to use a bit unless you're already very aroused. A little bit of lube goes a long way with this toy. Especially inserting the broader end, this may need a bit of extra slicking-up to be comfortable.
I feel like beginners and advanced users would be able to appreciate the safety and ease of cleaning that silicone has to offer, but that the firmness is more for those that are looking to try more intense g-spot stimulation. This would be a good first dildo, but if it's uncomfortable and doesn't work with your body keep in mind that the reason there are so many shapes and firmnesses is that everyone is built differently.
The Ella is a fairly small toy compared to a lot of dildos, especially in length. In total this toy is 7 inches long, but if you're using the pointy end 5 inches are insertable. If you're using the broad, curved end you may end up with just 4 inches being insertable because it's hard to grasp the tapered, pointy end.
The pointy end of this toy is, for all intensive purposes, straight. As you go more towards the middle of this toy it gets wider and wider until it reaches about 4 inches around. When inserted, this feels a bit wider than it really is because of the contrast with the thin tip of the toy.
The broader end of this toy is a bit hard to insert at first because of the girth. It's shaped a bit like the Lelo Gigi or the Rock Star Stevie, so if you like those toys this might be the end that you prefer. After the wide tip it gets thinner very quickly and forms a bit of a 'neck.' It then very gradually thickens to the widest part, the middle, of the toy.
I personally found the broad side to be the most pleasurable. Because it is thinner after the head, it feels less like it's 'stretching' my entrance. I felt like the other end was a bit too pointy for my tastes, but I like more broad g-spot stimulation.
I feel like this toy is great for both beginners and advanced user, but again, if this doesn't work for you don't be upset. I feel like it would be good for both those who know that they need an abrupt curve on a toy (or a point), but it would also be an inexpensive way to try two different, common shapes.
When in use, this toy was a bit too 'intense' for me. I am someone who can reach their g-spot with a 3 inch, straight toy, so this was a little bit too intense for my sensitive, easy-to-please g-spot. After use it left me feeling a little bit 'overstimulated.'
The other end of this toy was a bit too pointy for my liking, especially when it came to thrusting. I think that for most people this would be an awesome toy to play around and thrust with, especially if you've had trouble in the past with not being able to hit or find your g-spot.
This dildo is not harness compatible because it doesn't have a flared or circular base. Because of the strange shape, I also doubt that you would be able to find a suction cup for it. This toy is best used manually to thrust with, but because of the shape it doesn't tire or hurt your wrist.
This dildo is made of silicone, so it can be cleaned normally with an antibacterial toy cleaner, soap and water, or can be wiped down with toy cleaning wipes. Because of the material you can also boil it for several minutes or wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution to completely disinfect it, something that I would recommend doing if you plan on switching users or orifices. This toy is white and a lint magnet, so I feel like I need to wash mine before and after use for sure. If you are keeping this in a lint-free environment you may be able to get away with just washing it after every use.
You shouldn't store silicone in contact with other silicone because the two toys can potentially react with eachother and leave you a very sad, unsatisfied person. For similar reasons, you should not use this with silicone based lubricant. I keep this in a cool, dark place with the rest of my toys.
This toy comes in a very sturdy, high quality cardboard box. It's the classiest packaging I;ve ever seen on a toy and it really makes you feel like you're getting something that will last. The box is great for storage, but it's quite a bit larger than the toy itself.
It does state that it's a 'pleasure object' on the box, but there aren't any naked women or lewd sayings on it. I wouldn't hesitate to wrap it up and give it as a gift and, in fact, I have done this. It really makes me feel like Lelo is a brand to be trusted.
Something that I really appreciate is that Ella comes with its own carrying pouch. This keeps the silicone from coming in contact with other toys that could harm it, and it also keeps it fairly lint free. It's made of a silky, black material and has a drawstring top.
Out of the several people that have not loved Ella, the most commonly heard complaint is that it is way too flexible to put the pressure they need on their g-spot. I'm going to be the outlier in the other direction here and state that Ella is way too curved and firm for me.
I LOVE soft toys; my favorite dildos are the Isis and the Bandito, which are made of flexible silicone. Often when others say a toy is perfect, I am complaining that it is way too intense. I really love broad, soft g-spot stimulation.
My issue with Ella is that the broad end is way too curved and intense. After use, I am left feeling bruised and over-stimulated. The other end, on the other hand, is way too pointy and direct for me to enjoy. They are both wonderful shapes, but they are TOO wonderful for my body.
Because of the wonderful material, color, packaging, and design I am giving Ella a 4 out of 5 stars. I feel bad taking a star off for it not being compatible with my body, but I just can't give a toy I can't use well 5 stars. I would highly suggest this dildo.
Follow-up commentaryI still don't like it3 months after original review
I have since found a new home for my Ella, but it certainly was a learning experience. It's not that I think that Ella is a bad toy, it just wasn't ideal for my body and what I like to play with. I got the Ella for my friend, and she really likes it a lot. Still a great toy for those looking to try something insertable with a g-spot curve!
