The Great Penetration Paradox

Don't expect this toy to work perfectly while penetrating your partner. It may or may not be right for you. For us, it became too much hassle and stress to try and make penetrating them work out. We had fun in other ways while I wore the Sugar Share.

I found this toy very gender-affirming! It feels good physically, but I found this toy more satisfying in a mental/emotional sense as well.

My kingdom, my kingdom for a no-harness strap-on that solves the problems of all the models before it...

sugar share + box

This review is a long time coming, and it's been tricky to think about what I'd like to say about this toy. I was very excited when I saw the Sugar Share arrive with a batch of new toys, as I'm a fan of strap-on related toys, whether it's harness-compatible dildos and vibes, or harnesses themselves, or the latest trend, strap-less strap-ons, or the RealDoe/FeelDoe (a la Tantus) style of toy. These have been a huge fascination of mine since first seeing them hit the market, and I'm maybe a little obsessed with finding the perfect model, the one that does what it says it can! It's a kind of sexy white whale for me, my ultimate sex toy goal.

The Sugar Share does not get me any closer.

box+contents

I'll start with some positives and first impressions before getting into the rough of it.

This toy came in the best packaging EdenFantasys has sent me yet. The box and the padding on the inside are very nice, nice enough that I can readily justify keeping it all and continuing to store the Sugar Share in its original packaging, something I've been hoping for out of Eden's toys for a while. There's a little foam cut-out that also has the little charging cable tucked away inside. There's no waste with this box, I feel I can keep and use it for as long as I have the Sugar Share itself!

The toy itself has that nice velvety silicone feel, is waterproof, easy to clean, and is that iconic Eden pleasant purple. I'm fond of the shaft and head of this toy, actually, I like the shape quite a lot. I appreciate a nicely flared bellend head on a toy, and I like the feel of this one when inserted.

Feelings around this toy get a little bit more muddled, moving forward.

comparison

The toy I currently have to compare it to is actually Adam & Eve's own version of the strapless strap-on, so I'll be using it as an example to explain some of my feelings about Eden's version, and also the conundrum with these toys as a whole. But I'll also note here that I don't particularly recommend Adam & Eve's toy, at least, not over Eden's. For me, they're both adequate but are a trade-off of problems, neither quite out-doing the other.

First, the bulbs that are meant to hold the toy in place: I prefer Eden's take on this much more, it's far more filling, has more to grip and hold and staying power and is more stimulating. However, one drawback of both designs is neither reaches nearly as deeply as they need to. I'll expound on that a bit more in a different section.

However, the shape of the base of the shaft of Eden's Sugar Share does very little for me-- it doesn't even reach over my clitoris properly, sitting just underneath (taunting me!). Adam & Eve's isn't perfect, but I do get an amount of much-needed clitoral stimulation from their toy. The Sugar Share, when I'm wearing it, physically cannot bring me to orgasm on its own, unfortunately, though that's not a major deal-breaker, just a small disappointment.

There's a consistent problem with these toys, one that crops up time and time again, the biggest major complaint about most like this:

The more aroused you are, the less effective this toy becomes, as far as acting as a strap-on. Using this to penetrate a partner becomes nigh impossible if you start getting wet. If you are even slightly lubricated, the moment the shaft meets resistance... Pop! Out the bulb slips. And even with a harness added to the equation, I found that it just did not provide the required stability to allow me to really, well, fuck my partner at all. Even grinding and humping with no attempts to penetrate resulted in the toy getting away from us, gravity and slickness, and momentum working against us at every turn.

You would think that the solution is maybe angling the base of the shaft and the bulb more sharply, but my tender g-spot aches to think what that may feel like... My thought is that if the stems were longer, and the bulbs a biiiit larger, just a little, then the muscles could have a better time almost 'closing' around the bit to have a better hold on it, treat it more like a plug almost, but at the end of the day, I'm grasping at straws. This toy is the three-body problem of sex. I can only hope one day we'll develop an elegant solution.
Experience
feline interruptus

For all the disappointment this toy holds, there's plenty of silver linings-- this toy is still quite good! It's still fun to wear and play with, and my partner loves it, even if only because it's sometimes attached to me. Receiving head while wearing it... I start sweating just thinking about it. When I have it on, it really is a step above having a harness and a regular dildo on. As a nonbinary person with complicated gender-feels, the Sugar Share is perfect for getting through the murky waters of dysphoria and dysmorphia. Toys like this can help us connect with our bodies in new and different ways, and that alone can be invaluable to many!

And while I struggled to use it the way I had hoped to, everybody-- every BODY-- is different. For the price range of this toy, I say it can't hurt to try!
