Tantus Silk medium strap-on dildo: An unintimidating glide into anal/pegging.
The best First Pegging Experience dildo available and great for DP too. Squishy material makes insertion a slight bump in the road.

Pros
Unintimidating dildo is the perfect size for anal novice. O-ring harness compatible, easy cleanup.
Cons
Too squishy for ideal anal insertion. Curve is a little too pronounced for F, but M liked it.
The Tantus Silk (Medium) seemed like the perfect choice for a couple looking to leap into the world of pegging. My boyfriend and I settled on it for lots of reasons: it's the perfect size, it has no 'texture' to complicate anal play for a novice, and silicone is easy-to-clean and totally body-safe. It's compatible with the O-ring harness that we chose, too. (A close equivalent is the "Commando" offered by Eden in double-strap mode.)
When we strapped on and lubed up (non-silicone!) for the first time, we were pleased with our choice. The size wasn't scary, the surface is smooth as silk, the color was just-as-advertised, the dildo had no odor, and it felt amazing in my harness. After the oral and manual warm up, though, the Silk didn't want to slip right in to him. Silicone is more squishy than a real-life penis, and A LOT more squishy than the anal toys I use on myself. The dildo wanted to bend following its curve instead of penetrating- I had to grab the Silk to keep it straight as I pushed it in.
Once in, though, all of the excellence of the Tantus Silk showed through, and we had a wonderful time. It glides easily and the upward curve gave him good sensation, while the lack of texture prevented him from getting hurt during these early, inexperienced sessions. Still, because of the squishyness, I had to be mindful that his sphincter wasn't clenching, because to thrust when the dildo was compacted would have hurt him. As we became accustomed to pegging, we didn't have to worry about his nerves clamping his sphincter shut and this wasn't a problem anymore. For other sessions as well, I now knew to start him off with oral, manual, and then a hard plastic toy held in my hand to make sure he was fully open. After these steps, the Silk works wonders.
After a quick dip in a 10% bleach solution and a clean water rinse (you could also boil it to sterilize, or simply wash with soap and water if you're the only user- but sterilization is time-sensitive for us!), we are ready to slip the Silk into my hind end for some double penetration. The Silk gives a wonderful full feeling during penetrative sex, but it is frustrating while my boyfriend tries to actually insert it (the same buckling problems). I would prefer an inflexible plug for double penetration just because of the ease of insertion, but the inflexible toys I have prevent him from fitting inside me at the same time. So despite the tricky insertion, the Silk is our most commonly used DP toy. In this application, the upward curve seems unnecessary.
The Silk is in its element for strap-on anal or anal-in-DP situations, but it is so textureless and provides so little resistance that it would be very boring for strap-on vaginal sex or solo masturbation. Though it's curved, the material has too much give to provide any g-spot sensation.
This is a great dildo for the price, and even given the bendy-insertion difficulties, it is still my top recommendation for a "First Time Pegging" dildo. It's simply the highest quality, lowest priced, body-safe option on the market. As long as you're prepared for the squishyness of silicone and you have work arounds in mind to help slip it in, this toy should work just fine.

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
I wish I could say "I'm still neutral about it," because the Silk Medium hasn't changed, and neither has my opinion. It's a great introductory pegging dildo, but it's a little soft for my tastes, and those of the partner I used it with. I would still recommend it to a friend just starting out with strap-ons.
I'm no longer dating a man who likes receiving anal, so the Silk doesn't see the light of day much---but if I were still pegging, it would still be getting regular action. The lack of head and texture makes it perfect for strap-on sex. The bending on entry isn't ideal, but it's hard to have something of this slim diameter be very much stiffer.
For receiving double penetration, I've come to prefer a plug to a probe in general, because I can insert it easily beforehand. When I want a probe, I like the Jollies Bandito. It's firmer silicone mix is easier for insertion, and it moves with my partner well.
In the two months since I wrote this my review (my very first one!), I've learned a lot: both about myself, and about sex toys. My personal preference is for firmer toys, and if the Silk was available in a firmer silicone (like Tantus' G-force) it would suit me better. Most people clearly prefer the softer silicone, though.
Tantus is a wonderful company, and I hadn't known when I purchased the Silk a year ago that their products are all made in the USA by caring and visionary people. While the Silk isn't my favorite of their offerings, others have become stars of my collection.
