Pros
Versatile, discreet, hones in on G-spot very well
Cons
If you aren't a fan of textures you'll probably want to pass on this.
When I was young I saw a license plate that had some abbreviation for the term "classy lady." My mum told me that if a lady needs to point out how classy she is on a license plate, chances are that she actually isn't very classy and is overcompensating for something.
I dare say that the Amethyst is a truly classy lady. She is attractive and alluring but doesn't draw too much attention to herself, and damn she's good at what she does!
At first she seemed much smaller than my first glass toy, the Topsy Turvy. In reality she's only two inches smaller in length and a quarter inch smaller in diameter, she just looks smaller with her curve about 4 1/2-5 inches up the toy. The textured end has two small bulbs with a pointed, round head, and the other end curves up for the last 2.5 - 3 inches as a smooth, normal-looking dildo end with a focused tip for the G-Spot.
In the past I hadn't been a fan of ribbed textures, but the Amethyst was quite pretty and nicely price so I decided to give her a try. I figured I'd at least enjoy the smoother side if the textures didn't strike my fancy. The textured end actually feels nice, since she is made of glass and the bulbs are a bit wider she feels much smoother than other ribbed toys out there.
Thanks to her elegant curve the Amethyst has an impromptu handle, which comes in handy during vaginal use and although I'm not a fan of anal- it would certainly come in handy back there. It's not heavy so it's fine to use without a partner, but couples of any orientation could find something fun to do with this toy. Obligatory hygiene note: If you decide to share your Amethyst with a partner, clean it with soap and warm water before, between and after uses, whether you're just changing orifices or also changing partners.
The Amethyst is also a tough cookie, you'd have to throw her pretty hard in order to break her. Much to my chagrin I have not tried temperature play, but like most (if not all) glass toys I'm sure she'd be up to the task. For cleaning I use either my antibacterial toy spray before and after, or I wash with warm water and soap before returning her to her red velour storage sack.
I'm not sure if I'd recommend this to beginners. I know some reviews said it wasn't beginner friendly but I think if somebody is looking for an intro to textures and/or glass then this could be a great find. It's a very feminine looking toy but I think couples of any orientation could have fun with this toy.
Five stars for its versatility, looks and price!
