Smoother in the picture, not so much in your hand.
This toy just doesn't do it for me. Other toys satisfy me much better. For the price, I don't see what the advantage of this toy is. Opposed to a few that I loved that were cheaper, made of glass, and were just all around more fun to experience. Keep this one in mind if you like feeling bumps, or need something discreet. Otherwise, keep looking around.

Pros
Glass, super easy cleanup, sterilize-able, and can be discreetly hidden
Cons
Wrinkled warp in the glass, foreign object embedded inside, weak bag, and small
There were a few things I noticed about this toy right out of the box. The packaging was deceptively large, and when I finally saw the actual toy... it looked rather tiny. It’s small; sidekick is a good word for it I think. The width of the toy is fairly slender; while I wouldn't before have said girth mattered to me, I think it really does.
If you've read my previous reviews you know that I cherish sleek and smooth transitions rather than harsher abrupt sensations on my toys. I was disappointed with this one, as the head on this toy looks like a smooth transition, but once I got it into my hand, and into my body... the ridge makes for a bit of a harsh sensation when you begin to pull it back out.
As for the other side, there are three balls stacked on top of the other that make for a great handle if dry and as far as anal play - I think it wouldn't make for a great toy for that unless you have a really good grip on it, and have some help from a partner and only insert it so far as to not lose the toy inside. I have seen anal toys that are larger than the back side of this toy and going the other way around, I wouldn't recommend at all.
For the bubble or ball side of the toy in the vaginal area...I found that it felt quite large going in, and once in, was difficult to maneuver. This is definitely not much for a thrusting toy, but if you’re new to toys, or new to glass this could be a low priced option for you.
But my advice is to go get the marbled wand I reviewed a while back. As a first time toy, I think that would be much nicer for anyone new to things of this nature.
The nice thing is that the sensations are different. It’s small and discreet glass you can temperature play, but you really don't get to enjoy it BEING glass - because it’s a little too short to do much with.
The silk bag for a glass toy again, this time the satin was white instead of black, which was nice. I could see that it is not the Marbled Wand I got before with the same bag. The lace is white, so maybe some other toy will be white with a black lace and maybe black with a black lace, so help you distinguish which toy is which as you grope for it in your toy stash. Though I am concerned with them hitting against each other, the satin really doesn't provide for any real protection. The drawstring on it is nice, though sewn together on the inside a little weakly. It is sewn and not melted together like a hair tie; this is probably a bonus if you cinch up your toy tightly like I do.

Experience
I wasn't super excited to try this toy once I had seen it. Further adding to the wait was a visit from a family member. So I've had this toy in my possession for a while and checking it out when I had a spare moment to look at it. There was a foreign object sealed inside the glass, a bit like a white flake or rather large spec of something. It put me off a little, now I know that it's all handmade and not one is like another - but flaws like this do put me off of a toy. There was also a little bit of a wrinkle around the head on the end. When you spin the toy in your hand and inside your body you feel it. For me it was irritating and not an enjoyment.
I’d like to rate this just below the half way mark at 2.5 stars. But since I can only pick whole stars, I'm going with two.
1) It is too small.
2) It doesn't come in a protective bag.
3) Mine had flaws - ones that bugged me. (Normally I'm fairly easy going.)
4) You can't really enjoy the fact that it is glass - because it’s too small.
5) The ridge around the 'head' of the toy was too harsh, and the bumps... you don't really feel those (Good for me, but then what is the point of them?)
So what is good about it?
1) It’s small and can be concealed fairly easily. It will fit into a makeup bag if need be (not a mini one!)
2) It’s glass. You are able to temperature play and experiment with it.
3) If you’re into bumps or sudden ridges on your toys, you might like this one.
Other than that, there are better toys out there.

Follow-up commentary
20 months after original review
I am back with a follow up of Kira's Violet Sidekick. First of all, as I glance over my initial review, I notice that the price seems considerably higher than I remember it. (Please note, I do NOT recall the original price.) At the time of this writing, it is currently at 79 dollars. I also felt that mine had a bit of an abrupt slope from the head to the shaft. I don’t think it’s a different model than what is in the photo. I think the light and reflections conceal it from being obvious , though not purposefully.
Vaginal - Still too small with an angular stop after the head. I still don't really like this toy because when I'm fucked with something, I'd like to feel it filling me and pressing the inner walls of my body outward. Once warmed, I can’t really feel it. That may sound bad, however some women out there may have less room than I have and would prefer a thinner slender toy for their bodies. In which case I say "Sure, try it!" If you want some girth to a toy though, don't get this. Put the money toward another item (check some of my other reviews for some ideas).
Now, Anal use! I did NOT like this one going in. Felt pinched a bit so asked for more lube. This toy was forgotten about as another toy was played with vaginally. Until he started moving it back and forth. I liked the sensation of it moving in and out of me during anal stimulation however, I'm not sure I couldn't achieve that with any other toy I do like using.
The storage bag. ~sigh~. I have several other Phallix toys, and this one, and the Marbled G-Spot come in these wimpy little bags that do NOT protect the GLASS toy within. Now, I realize that they are Pyrex grade glass that is shatter resistant and all that.. I don't' care! When I put my glass toys, into a big box with OTHER glass toys, or other steel toys.. I don't want to hear them clanking together like a couple of wine bottles. :( This toy is 80 bucks.. it should come with a padded bag like all the others; however, lined with the satin like the bag it came in. Same with the Marbled G-Spot.
So, the toy is, well, kinda sucks for my tastes.. though with anal stimulation I did like it - just not on the entry. That steep little recess down to the shaft of the toy just rubs me the wrong way, literally. The bag is crap if you want protection like I do.. but if its the only toy in your panty drawer, I'm sure it would service well enough.

Thanks for the review! I love glass and was looking at this, but I'm glad I read your comments. Too bad it's lacking in size. I rather like the color, but without any curve to the shaft for g-spot stimulation and inadequate girth I think I'll be passing on this one.

Update on the photo - I did take it, and life hit me again with the ugly stick. I have come across it on my computer a time or two but I'm not sure putting it somewhere is worth it. It seems like they had changed the design a little - but for a first time glass toy, this will show you what it's like owning one for a price that isn't too expensive. Happy Evenings!
