Size -- And Shape -- Do Matter
This inexpensive dildo could be pleasing to many women, but stay away from it if you have problems inserting toys. The girth and design could make it difficult for you to use.

Pros
Pretty color; interesting design; inexpensive.
Cons
The tip is short & fairly thick, making it unsuited for smaller women; ribs uncomfortable for me.
This was the first dildo I bought. I chose it based on reviews, but mainly, I have to admit, on price. It also looks very nice. Its diameter is 1.5". Ribbed is made of Sil-a-Gel, which is PVC (is this the same PVC that they make piping out of?) and is anti-bacterial. An important element of Sil-a-Gel is that it is latex and cadmium free. I'm not a chemist, but I know that latex and cadmium can cause problems. The product information points out that this material can attract dust and small debris, which in my house means dog hair. Yes, it does attract dog hair. Lots of dog hair. The manufacturer recommends that the toy be protected with a condom, and cleaned before and after use with warm water and soap. I never used it with a condom, but I did make sure to clean it before I used it. I have dog hair in enough parts of my body; don't need any hair in my vagina. Water or silicone lubes are appropriate with Ribbed.
Lubes were important when I was trying to use this dildo, because insertion was a problem. This is NOT a dildo for a woman with a tight vagina; at least it wasn't a dildo for this woman's tight vagina. As I said above, it was my first dildo, and I had never inserted anything into my vagina other than a tampon for many years. Eden Fantasys has handy measuring information on the side of the webpage, but I wasn't sure how large a dildo I needed. After all, a tampon is not a very good comparison.
When I first got the dildo in the mail, I was excited to use it. But darn, I could NOT get it more than an inch into my vagina! Why? 1.5" diameter is not THAT big, although for me at the time it was too large. I believe the answer lies not only with the girth, but with the design of this dildo. You'll see from the picture that the tip before the ribs is fairly short. For me, it is easier to insert a toy with a longer tip. Once the tip is in, the rest follows. With Ribbed, the tip did not go in and the ribs just held the whole process up.
In the last few months, I have taken the Ribbed out of the toy chest and tried it again several times. With use, one's vagina does stretch (I don't know if I'm saying that correctly), and I am now able to insert larger toys. Sure enough, after about three months, I could actually take the Ribbed.
Unfortunately, after all the wait I didn't like the feeling of the ribs, and the ribs are what are supposed to make this dildo different from the rest. As I was inserting it, the ribs went bump, bump, bump all the way in. I know that's what some women like, but I found it uncomfortable. Same with taking it out. Bump, bump, bump, until, thank goodness, it was finally out. I guess I like smoother dildos better. After the last try, the Ribbed went into permanent exile in the bottom drawer of my toy chest.

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
WEEEELLLL, I did take Ribbed out of the bottom drawer and have used it a bit recently. I still don't particularly like the ribs, but since my vagina has stretched, I do like the girth better. Also, since Ribbed is quite soft, it is nice to use when I don't want a stiff dildo. I still believe it could be designed better, but I do like it a bit more now.

Condoms are recommended due to the porosity of the toy- introduction of vaginal fluids (or any bodily fluids) causes a rapid breakdown in the toy because it's being introduced to bacteria- condoms not only prolong the life of the toy by keeping it clean but they keep you safe from repeated infections.
