Silky Smooth
What the Silk Large lacks in drama, it makes up for in lovely pearlescent colors, a silky smooth texture, and an extremely functional and versatile design.

Pros
Versatile design, quality materials, pretty colors.
Cons
No dramatic features.
I adore my Silk Large, and yet I find myself struggling to review this lovely dildo. In many ways this toy is totally unexceptional. It has no dramatic bumps or curves, no texture, no smell, no taste. It’s not too big or too small, or too firm or too soft. If this review were an adult version of Goldilocks, this dildo would be “just right.”
While this dildo is rather plain, who doesn’t want a dildo that is ‘just right”? I certainly can’t complain. Over the years I’ve owned it, I’ve used this dildo vaginally and anally on myself, as well as anally on my male partner. It is always comfortable and smooth and just nice to use, no matter what the application.
For one thing, I adore the beautiful, pearlescent lavender color of my dildo. It is has a pleasant shine/shimmer that is really quite nice without being garish or glittery. My Silk also has a pretty pattern of darker purple swirled through the lighter lavender base.
The entire Silk line is made from 100% medical grade silicone, which means that they are hypoallergenic. Not to mention they are easily cleaned/sterilized. You can boil them (5 min), bleach them (10% bleach solution) or clean them in the dishwasher (top rack, no soap), and with reasonable care they should last for many years.
I purchased my Silk Large, along with a Silk Medium, several years ago with an eye towards using both of them for anal and harness play. Both have been awesome for these purposes. I love the extremely smooth and texture-free surface. Personally, I am not at all a fan of bumps, ridges, and textures for anal play. I like a smooth entry, and the Silk line is true to its name in terms of texture.
As for harness play with this toy, I find that it works rather well. At 7” it is long enough to be effective in most positions, but not long enough to accidentally cause pain/damage to your partner. And, while many reviewers have complained about the design of the base on Tantus dildos, I have never had a problem with my silk large slipping out of a (properly sized) o-ring.
While not huge by any means, this dildo is plenty large enough to satisfy me vaginally, and it is big enough to require a good warm-up before I use it anally on myself or my partner. Speaking of size, both the Tantus website and my own measurements indicate that the Silk Large is about 1 ½ ” in diameter at its widest point (the head), not the 1 ¼” listed in the product description. A quarter of an inch makes a surprising amount of difference. My measurements of the length agree with the product description of 7” with 6 ¾” of insertable length.
Overall, I highly recommend this dildo for anyone looking for a versatile, silky smooth, non-representational dildo for either vaginal or anal use. It might be a bit on the large size for a sex toy novice, but it well within the realm of the realistic.
Please note: according to the Tantus website, silicone lubes are sometimes incompatible with some silicone toys. Unfortunately, because there are so many permutations of toy/lube, it is basically impossible to predict whether or not a certain silicone lube will react badly with a certain silicone toy. Therefore, if you want to be 100% safe with silicone toys, avoid using them with silicone lube.
On the other hand, Tantus claims that interactions between their ultra-premium, medical grade silicone and high quality silicone lubes are rare. They do recommend testing new silicone lubes on the base of the toy before use. Apparently, any “bonding” between lube and toys will be immediate and obvious. I’ve tried a few silicone lubes on my Tantus toys with no ill affect, but I encourage you to perform your own tests before lathering up.

Thank you for viewing Silk large – sex toy review page!
I have a 4 pack of O-rings. What size works best with this?
Nice review! Thanks!
I think your best bet would be to try out your o-rings with the Silk and whatever harness you plan to use. Since the widest point of the dildo (the head) is 1.5" I would start there, but you will likely need something a little bit bigger depending on how thick the straps are that secure the o-ring to the harness and whether you are using rubber or metal o-rings. Enjoy!
