Sexy Softie

The VixSkin Mustang is too squishy and floppy to rub my G-spot the way I like, but it still feels good. Lovers of intense sensations, like those offered by steel and glass toys, probably won't enjoy VixSkin, but for someone looking for a realistic and gentle experience, this is the perfect toy.

Use

The Mustang by Vixen Creations is a harness-compatible, realistic dildo made of dual-density silicone. It's designed to be just as easy to use in a harness as it is to use solo. Because it's fairly squishy and bendable, it could also potentially be used for "packing" if you were wearing loose enough clothing.

Because the Mustang's base is flared for harness use, it can also be used anally without fear of it being swallowed by your ass.

This is a very realistic-looking and realistic-feeling dildo, so it would be a good choice for a trans guy or otherwise gender-non-conforming person in search of a realistic cock to wear.

Material / Texture

Mustang

The Mustang is made of a type of dual-density silicone known as VixSkin. It has no detectable smell or taste. This is a great material for a penetrative toy because it has a lot of give, making it comfortable to use, even for those of us with orifices that are sensitive to pain.

The VixSkin collection was specifically made to look and feel very realistic, and I think it succeeds in that. The outer layer of silicone makes the toy feel plush and squishy, while the inner layer gives it some firmness to help it stand up in a harness and prevent it from flopping around too much.

Mustang squishiness

The Mustang is so flexible that I can fold it in half with very little effort. This is the main area in which VixSkin differs from the other well-known kind of dual-density silicone, O2 - VixSkin is much squishier, I think because its outer layer is thicker than the inner one, whereas O2 dildos are firmer and take much more effort to bend. One isn't really "better" than the other; it just really depends on what level of firmness you prefer.

Like most types of silicone, VixSkin is pretty draggy and you'll want to use some lube with it (water-based only). I find that it needs more lube than glass or steel, but not as much as Tantus silicone.

Design / Shape / Size

Adam, Mustang, Mark

Here's a size comparison photo of the Mustang (centre) pictured with two of my O2 dildos from Tantus, Adam (left) and Mark (right). As you can see, there isn't that much variance in size, though Adam definitely feels larger than Mustang because Adam is significantly firmer.

The Mustang is a pretty average size and shape for a dildo. It has an insertable length of 6 1/4" and a diameter of 1 1/2" at its widest point. The head is very squishy, so it hardly feels like it has any girth. Just below the head, the shaft is fairly slim, and it grows steadily wider as it nears the base, where it is widest. This is a great design because it allows the user to "ease into" the girth. However, size queens should probably skip the Mustang and go for one of Vixen's many larger dildos.

The Mustang curves slightly upward, presumably to hit the G-spot. However, I found that my G-spot got practically no satisfaction from this dildo, because it's just too squishy and doesn't provide the firm stroking that my G-spot prefers. Even with the Mustang's prominent head going in and out of me very fast, I could barely feel it.

I do like that this toy is long enough to hit my A-spot (anterior fornix), though. Many G-spotting toys don't have the needed length to do that, but this one does.

Mustang head

Below the Mustang's head, there's another little ridge which seems to be meant to look like a retracted foreskin. This is a nice visual touch - I prefer the look of intact penises - but I can't really feel it in use, again because of the squishiness of the toy.

The Mustang has two prominent vein-like protrusions, one running down the front and one running down the back. These can't really be felt in use unless I rotate the dildo while it's inside me.

There are also several smaller veins all over the surface of the shaft, though these seem to be more for visual appeal than tactile.

The harness-friendly base is chunky and easy to hang onto, even when I'm thrusting very quickly and for a long period of time.

Performance

This is a dildo for people whose orifices prefer something squishy, soft, and accommodating. As for me, my G-spot and A-spot prefer firmer, more focused stimulation, so I didn't enjoy this one as much as my firmer O2 dildos.

It's a good size for people who prefer small-to-medium dildos, which is a category that I definitely fall into. The size of it is great and I love that I don't have to warm up before inserting this toy - I just have to apply lube and it'll go right in, easily.

The base of this dildo is firm and the toy retains its shape even when held horizontally, so I think it would be a good choice for harness use. However, it's quite floppy - more similar to a semi-erect penis than a fully erect one - so it might not work so well for long, fast, hard strokes.

Care and Maintenance

Silicone is very easy to care for. Day-to-day cleaning can be accomplished with simple soap and water. This toy can be sanitized by boiling it for a few minutes or wiping it down with a 10% bleach solution. I'll also sometimes use toy wipes or toy cleaner if I'm too lazy to give it a proper wash after using it.

I've been storing my Mustang in the plastic tube it came in. Vixen Creations suggests that all VixSkin toys be stored upright (I'm not sure why), and this isn't really possible for me (I store my toys in shallow drawers), but the tube makes it easier to do that if that's how you want to store your Mustang.

Like all silicone toys, the Mustang is prone to collecting lint and dirt. Yet another good reason to store it in its tube. If you find the tube too bulky, you could also wrap it up in a plastic bag or a silk scarf before tucking it into a drawer, box, etc.

As with all silicone, don't use a silicone-based lube with this toy. Water-based works just fine and washes off easily.

Packaging

Vixen packaging

VixSkin toys come packaged in an upright plastic tube. The label on the front says "VixSkin - Worth Every Inch," and has a photo of Vixen's mascot, some kind of cat or fox.

The back of the tube also bears Vixen's name and logo, as well as a bullet-point list of VixSkin's qualities ("looks and feels like authentic skin," "solid inner core for functional use," etc.).

This packaging could be good for gifting, though it's not subtle at all - the tube is transparent and the dildo is fully visible through it. If you're giving this toy to someone who might be embarrassed by receiving it, it would be a good idea to wrap it or even transfer it to an opaque gift box.

Experience

I thought I would prefer VixSkin over O2, since so many sex toy bloggers seem to feel that way - but I actually like O2 better. It's firmer and strokes my spots in a way that I prefer. The Mustang's stimulation is much subtler and more about fullness than it is about targeting my G-spot.

That said, I do like this dildo. It feels good, even if it isn't as intense an experience as my O2 play sessions are. And if I ever have another opportunity to have strap-on sex, I think this will be an excellent tool for it because it's so realistic.
Follow-up commentary
After reviewing another toy which didn't hit my G-spot at all (the Fuze Harmony), I've come to appreciate the Mustang more. The stimulation it provides isn't nearly as intense as something like the Acute or Tsunami, but it's subtle and sometimes I'm in the mood for subtle.

Plus, this is just a really well-made toy. I'm glad to finally own something made of VixSkin.
