Seeing Stars

I love the Rocket for its versatility. It's ready for whatever kind of mood you're in, and it's suitable for strap-on play, anal, or just plain, good fucking. People new to penetration might find it too big, and size-queens might think it's too small, but the size was perfect for me. The aesthetics of this dildo are an added perk on what is already a toy with good design and function.

Use

The Rocket is a useful tool in anyone's toy box. Being mid-sized with a flared base, it has potential for pleasurable vaginal and anal play. It can be used in-hand solo or with a partner, and has a wide base for harness compatibility. Though the Rocket has a ridge on the head, it is not particularly useful for G-spot play because it doesn't have any curve to it. This dildo is more suited for smooth, hard thrusting than for G-spot stimulation. Overall, this is an all-purpose dildo, suitable for any body, any type of penetration, and any number of participants, with proper protection.

Material / Texture

This dildo is made of 100% platinum-cured silicone. Platinum curing is used to make silicone products more pliable while keeping the nonporous and body-safe properties of pure silicone. The packaging describes it as "ultra-platinum," which doesn't really mean anything special; the most important indicator of material quality here is the brand name. Tantus has a reputation for producing high-quality, soft, silicone toys, and the Rocket is no exception. Fresh out of the packaging, the Rocket had a slight chemical smell that went away when I washed it. Silicone is nonporous and will not hold onto odors.

The texture is smooth, soft, and moderately flexible. I would almost describe the texture as fleshy--it gives in to squeezing pressure, and it bends slightly when inserted. I love the texture because it's firm and soft at the same time. The only thing that would have made it better is a spongy head, similar to the O2 line of dildos.

Design / Shape / Size

The Rocket's design is part of Tantus' space-themed line of toys, which includes the Comet G-spot dildo and the Asteroid and Meteorite butt plugs. All of these toys have the same stripes of bright green, orange, and pink. The striped colors also make the Rocket look like a popsicle. I think it's fun and sexy, whether it's a space object, a frozen treat, or just my cock.

Shape

I like that this toy has a phallic shape but is not realistic at all. There is a ridge on one side that makes a sort of angled, head shape. The shaft of the dildo is also slightly angled in relation to the wide, flat base. There is a nice tapering of girth, so that the toy is widest at the ridge and narrows as it reaches the base. I would also describe the shape as utilitarian because it's smooth, simple and multi-purpose.

Here is a size comparison with the Sasha Grey swell wand:

Comparison to Sharpie

In terms of size, the Rocket sits right in the middle. It is significantly larger and has more girth than the Tantus Acute and other similarly-sized dildos. However, it is nowhere near some of the larger toys on the market. I'm unsure of how the size compares to most anal dildos, but this one is probably on the large side for anal. Vaginally, I found it to be filling but not overwhelming. The insertable length of 5-1/2" was just right for me, though I am only 5'3" tall and pretty tiny.

The Rocket doesn't resemble a disembodied penis, but this is one of the least discreet dildos I have come across. The eye-catching colors and unmistakable shape pretty much announce that this is a sex toy. If you want to travel with it or live in a shared room like I do, go ahead and buy it if you want it. Just be aware that if you care about discretion, this may not be the toy for you.

Performance

The Rocket really feels phenomenal for thrusting. The ridge on the head is easy to insert and feels good inside. The size works perfect for my anatomy. I think the strength of this toy lies in the fact that it's simple and well-made; it can get you off, hard, if you know what you're doing with it. It's cute, easy to use, and exactly what I was looking for in a dildo.

Some strap-on dildos have narrow bases that don't exactly make them O-ring compatible, but the Rocket is not one of these. I have not tried it with my partner yet, but I am pleased with the wide base, and I think it will be a great strap-on. I tried anchoring the base in my hand and testing the flexibility. The narrowing toward the base gives the bottom of the shaft some bendiness, which I think will work well in a harness.

Some possible downsides, in terms of performance, might come from the sheer simplicity of this toy. Experienced users or size-queens could get bored with the lack of texture and middle-of-the-road size. I also don't know how it performs anally.

Care and Maintenance

Silicone is ridiculously easy to care for. After use, you can wipe down the toy with a sanitizing wipe, wash it with soap and water, boil it, or run it in the dishwasher to clean. Make sure to use a condom or sanitize the toy between users, and between anal and vaginal use.

One thing to watch out for is that silicone strongly attracts lint and hair, so storage in plastic tubs or bags works best. I store the Rocket in a drawstring pouch, and it's fine so far.

Silicone is only compatible with water-based lubricant. Do not use silicone lube because it can degrade the toy.

Packaging

Packaging

The Rocket comes in a plastic case with information about the company printed on all sides. When my toy arrived, the packaging was already a bit beat-up and squished, though it should still work fine for storage. The clear plastic is not discreet at all, so you might want to open it away from prying eyes if that's an issue.
