The Boss from Tantus is a beautiful toy and is great for those who want a somewhat realistic dildo but don't want something flesh tone or with veins. The only thing keeping me from totally recommending this gorgeous beauty of a dildo is the fact that the head of the shaft catches painfully on my pubic bone.

Pros
Beautiful design and hygienic material
Cons
Design of head catches on pubic bone and is a bit too firm
The Boss is a beautiful silicone dildo from Tantus. The Boss features a curved shaft for g-spot stimulation for the ladies, or prostate stimulation for men. There is a large base thanks to the addition of the semi-realistic testicles so this dildo is safe for anal use.
Since this dildo is entirely made up of pure silicone you can use this anywhere you'd like. It is waterproof for fun in the shower or bath. I found that the smooth silicone allows me to use the boss without much lubrication which makes shower fun relatively easy. If only it had a suction cup base!
I don't own a harness, so I can't say how well it would work in one, though it is harness compatible.
The Boss is made of silicone. I love silicone because it's non-porous and body friendly. Tantus' silicone is very firm, it's not very flexible or squishy but it is wonderfully smooth. This is a matte finish silicone, it's not shiny at all except for the underside of the base. There is not too much drag to the silicone, a small amount of lubricant is all I need for it. I did not notice any smell, or any taste.
The firmness of this dildo does take away from the realism of the toy. While the Boss isn't entirely realistic to begin with, since it's jet black and there are no veins, I was hoping that it would at least feel realistic. For me it was way too firm for that, and didn't give or bend the way a real penis does. You can bend this dildo only slightly, and even then you have to apply a lot of pressure for it to do so.
The Boss is a gorgeous toy. I love the look of the curve of the shaft and the pronounced head. This has a general realistic shape to it, but it's not an entirely realistic looking dildo. There are no veins and the testicles are basically a general outline, there is no wrinkles to them or anything. It's also jet black, which isn't really realistic, but that's okay with me. I haven't ever had a realistic dildo before, so this was a good introduction to them without having a full fledged detached penis looking toy. It's large but not so large that it intimidates. It is easy to insert and was filling while not making me feel too stretched. As for discreetness, there is absolutely nothing discreet about the Boss.
There's only one thing that I disliked about the design of the toy; unfortunately, it's a big dislike for me. Huge actually! The head of the toy is very pronounced. While I like this visually, I did not like the feel of this internally. If you're not extremely careful it can get caught on your pubic bone, which really hurts! When using it with my husband he would thrust it and have a good motion going, I'd be just starting to enjoy myself to the point that an orgasm might be possible and then *wham* pain. We tried it a few more times, but each time it wasn't long before that head would get caught and he'd have to stop. He got to the point that he was afraid to really thrust it and didn't want to use it on me for fear of hurting me. Using it on my own I can avoid having it catch by using more of a gentle rocking motion, but I hate that my use of this toy has to be so limited.
This is way too large for me to take anally, so I can't give any information about how it would perform that way. I'd imagine though that if you are used to the size of this toy that it would work out well anally.
Silicone is extremely easy to take care of, especially when there are no motors to worry about. You can wash the Boss in soap and water and/or use a toy cleaner. If you want to sterilize your dildo you can boil it in some water, put it in the top rack of the dishwasher (just don't leave it for someone to find haha) or use a 10% bleach/90% water solution on it. It's really that easy! The Boss is especially easy to clean because you can just stand it on its base after you wash it and let it air dry. This helps prevent fibers from the towel from transferring onto the toy.
I keep the Boss in the plastic bag that it came in and that keeps it free from lint or dust, which silicone easily picks up. Silicone is compatible with water based lubes, but you should avoid using a silicone lubricant as it can break down the material.
I decided to try and see if the Boss would work to practice oral techniques on. This isn't something that I normally do, but since I had a realistic cock sitting in front of me I decided to give it a shot. Well, because of the angle of the shaft, the size of the shaft and the extreme firmness I wasn't able to really do anything oral with it. I couldn't really get anything deep into my mouth, and while it could just be that I have a smaller jaw I've never had trouble with giving head to any size man before.
I did find that the way it sits on its base makes it great for practicing hand job techniques though. I watched a television show (I think it was Real Sex) where there was a woman who taught women how to do different hand job techniques by using realistic dildos. I finally got to try this out thanks to the Boss! It stands firmly enough on it's base that it won't really move and you can use both your hands to try out new things that you can then take back and use on your partner. I think even if it was just for this reason alone I'm glad I got the Boss!
Follow-up commentaryI still like it2 months after original review
While I still feel that the Boss is too firm for me, especially with that pronounced head, as long as I am careful with it, I find it to be a lot of fun. It's definitely not a partner toy for us though, since long thrusts prove to be too uncomfortable. Those that like the "popping" feel might really enjoy this for thrusting though.
Tantus is coming out with a softer version of the VIP, which is the same mold as the Boss, so I look forward to trying out that one!
