No, Sir to the Sergeant
The Sergeant was a little too wide for beginner anal play, but it did fit snugly into a harness, and the silicone does make it a safer toy for sharing.

Pros
Made of silicone, O-ring compatible, shorter length, easy to clean
Cons
Too wide for beginners, not discreet
Tantus' Sergeant is quite the intimidating anal stimulator, at least for a beginner. I got this toy to use for anal play with my beau, and he wasn't too keen on the width from the beginning but said he'd give it a go. The Sergeant only has 5 1/2" long with 4 1/2" of insertable length, but the circumference is 5 1/2", the diameter 1 1/2", definitely not the best toy to begin with. Best to warm up with a smaller toy, like a bullet, before breaking the Sergeant in. This dildo is O-ring compatible, great for use with a harness; I found that it fit snugly into the harness and stayed put, probably due to the fact that its thickness makes it inflexible.
The Sergeant comes in either red or black, and it has a wide, thick base that will do well to keep it from disappearing inside you if using it by itself. The most distinguished features are the ridges, which add an extra sensation, though they do make cleaning a bit more difficult. The toy is made of silicone, so it's easy to clean: just throw it in the dishwasher, clean it with soap and water or antibacterial toy cleaner. Just make sure to clean in-between those ridges so no bodily fluids get dried onto the toy.
Because the Sergeant is silicone, use only water-based lube. Don't use silicone lube or oil-based! The wide girth of the toy makes lots of lube a necessity, so I'd recommend lubing the anus or vagina as well as the toy sufficiently.
My boyfriend's experience with the toy was less than satisfactory; we worked slowly up to it, first using a vibrating bullet and then the smaller Lover's Silicone Probe with the Super Strap Harness, but the Sergeant turned out to be too much for him. I wouldn't recommend this toy to a beginner. It would be great for individuals who would like something wide for solo anal play that is safe and won't get stuck or experienced couples, with or without the harness.
The best use for this toy is anal play, and I'm not sure that using it for vaginal insertion would yield the best results, since the toy doesn't bend at all and it's not all that curved. The packaging was simple, just a clear plastic box with the Sergeant displayed inside. This toy is not discreet at all, though it is small enough that you could easily hide it in a drawer.
Overall, the Sergeant wasn't the best toy for what I was looking for, but for someone with more anal play experience I think it would be a pretty good toy.

Follow-up commentary
1 month after original review
My partner never did get used to the Sergeant, and it's been pretty much out of commission since we tried it. Would work better for an experienced user, but for someone just starting out I'd avoid this toy.

Thnaks for the review. I have the rascal, same thing but with a bullet in the base, and I like but i'm pretty advanced when it comes to anal.
