The O2 Max is one of the realistic silicone dildos from Tantus. My anal toys of choice aren’t usually dildos, as I prefer something just long enough to stimulate my prostate, or slender enough to use for gentle thrusting. That said, I’ve had my eye on the O2 dildos for awhile. Aesthetically, they offer everything I like in a dildo: a beautiful shape, some striking detail, great colors and a nice base, which is something I always take into consideration when buying a toy I’m going to use anally.

The O2 Max is one of the larger realistics from Tantus, and suitable for anyone who loves larger dildos, or for those who are looking to upgrade to a bigger dildo. If you’re just starting out with this type of toy or unsure about the size, study the dimensions carefully and look at the toy in EdenFantasy’s “actual product size” viewer. Even though I knew Max was a big one, I was still astonished at exactly how big it was when I opened the package.

Like all of the Tantus dildos, the O2 Max is made of a dual density “ultra-premium” silicone. The material is a body-safe one, and has no odor or taste - a problem which can occur with less desirable materials.

The O2 line is made of two different layers of silicone. The outer layer is a very soft material which overlays a firmer inner core. This offers the dildo some support during use (even with a harness), while keeping the exterior soft. The combination of the two layers gives the user a dildo which feels really lifelike, not only to touch, but while squeezing or gripping during use. The design allows the toy to bend easily when you want it to, but it’s not so floppy that penetration is overly difficult.

While generally smooth and streamlined, the O2 Max has some wonderful details that give it a more realistic appearance. The glans are fully realized, with a nice coronal ridge, and a detailed frenulum. The long shaft has a few nicely raised veins snaking down toward the base, and while they give the O2 Max a great appearance, they don’t offer a tremendous amount of texture (probably because the silicone is relatively soft).

Max is available in three different colors: a light cream, a darker cocoa, and a deep black. Of the three, I favored the cocoa, as it’s a nice rich shade, but still allows the detailing to be easily admired.

The O2 Max has a nice weight to it, which gives it a solid feel during use, even with its soft outer texture. While not as heavy as my stainless steel toys, I like the firmness of this one, not only when I am using it, but when I’m holding it.

Personally, I love the design of the O2 Max. The head is perfectly shaped and I really notice the softness of the material during penetration. The glans allow a little give, and I have no trouble easing the head of the O2 Max inside me during anal use. Even though Max is a big dildo, the combination of soft silicone and the tapered curve of the head made entry easy for me, with little of the discomfort I've experienced with big toys made of stiffer materials.

The shaft of this toy - while flexible - is pretty straight, so bear that in mind if you prefer your toys with a defined curve. Since I like to sit on dildos, or back onto them, one of the reasons I chose the O2 Max was the lack of a curve. As I am not yet ready to take this toy all the way to the base, I find the longer shaft gives me something to grasp while manipulating the top end.

The base of this toy is one of the best features, and probably the best base of any dildo I’ve ever used. Not only is it flat, but it’s fairly long, allowing for use on the floor, bottom of the bathtub/shower, or pretty much any flat surface. Though it lacks a suction cup, I gave it a ride on the floor of my shower, and used it with the base pressed up against the tile wall. In both cases it stayed in place and made penetration much easier.

Again, size-wise, this is one of the larger of the O2 dildos; it is 8 inches long (6.5 inches insertable), and 2 inches in diameter (5.75” circumference), so it’s probably not the best choice for first-timers, or those who aren’t yet able to handle a large, thick dildo. The O2 line has several models, and many share a similar design and color, so you should be able to find one that suits your personal preference in a size that works for you if the Max seems too large. While I haven’t worked my way up to accommodating the entire length of Max (yet), I’ve found that the softness of the material, coupled with the shape of the head make it almost perfect for stretching my anal opening and taking pleasure in some nice thrusting (just the top few inches). Even rotating the dildo, once inserted, was a very enjoyable experience.

Because of its large size and realistic appearance, I wouldn’t recommend tossing it in your travel bag unless you have no qualms about someone knowing you have a big dildo in your bag, but I have to allow that bringing Max along would make for a livelier trip.

The flat base of the O2 Max definitely is one of its best features, but those who prefer suction cup bases, or want to use it in a non-O-ring type of harness, might find better choices in some of the other dildos Tantus manufactures. With the addition of balls to the base (which look great, by the way), this might make use with some harnesses more difficult, if not impossible. While I found the dildo plenty firm enough for me, it is flexible, so take that into account if you enjoy a stiffer dildo while using a harness. Since I didn’t purchase the toy for use with a harness, these weren’t really issues for me.

Since the toy is made of silicone and has no electronic or motorized components, you can use it in water. I had the most fun with Max while trying it out in the shower. The real benefit to the dual layer of silicone, however, is how soft the outer aspect of the dildo is, compared to the firmness of its core. The O2 Max is not only realistic in appearance, but in how it feels. The weight of it, the way it feels inside you, even how it feels as you stroke it with soap and warm water. It’s hard to think of a way anyone could improve on this.

As the O2 Max is one solid piece, you can easily clean it from tip to balls with hot, soapy water. For a more complete disinfection, EdenFantasys recommends boiling the toy for three minutes, or even giving it a run through your dishwasher (top rack). Tantus also suggests soaking your silicone dildo in a 10% bleach solution. Silicone toys are notorious for collecting dust and lint, so give your O2 Max a quick wash before use, if needed.

EdenFantasys recommends only water-based lubricants with toys made of silicone, but because Tantus uses a medical grade premium silicone in their toys, they can be used with some high quality silicone lubricants. Check out this post for an official comment from Tantus about using lubes with your Tantus silicone toys. At any rate, definitely do a spot-check before slathering your new toy up with a lube you’re not sure about.

The O2 Max is packaged in a clear soft plastic case that holds a clamshell-type insert that cradles the dildo. While the box is printed with some of the great features of the toy, there were no instructions for use or care printed on the box, and nothing but the dildo inside the package.

The box is stylish, but not discreet. Currently I am storing the O2 Max in the box, but I don’t think I will use it for long-term storage, as the plastic flaps that hold the outer box together are already starting to fatigue. I will probably retain the clamshell insert, as it mimics the shape of the O2 Max and will (hopefully) help keep the shaft and base from becoming bent or damaged while being stored between uses.
