Cons
Doesn't suction for long, Too big for beginners, Lint magnet.
The Vamp by Tantus is designed to be inserted vaginally or anally. This dildo can also be used as part of a harness set up for those who want to be in control of a penis but were not born with one or stick it to something with the suction-y base to make it easier to ride. That being said men and women alike could get enjoyment out of the Vamp in a number of ways.
Remember to cover with a condom if you're sharing with a partner who isn't fluid bonded with you. You can also sterilize this dildo since it's made from 100% premium silicone meaning that you can switch from using it vaginally or anally and don't have to designate the toy as an anal- or vaginal-only dildo.
This dildo can also be used in the shower or bath tub if that's something you're into and it can be warmed or chilled before use to incorporate a bit of temperature play. Just let it soak in hot/warm or cold/ice water before using; silicone holds temperatures pretty well.
The size of this dildo isn't really suggested for beginners to penetration because it's a little on the large side with a very pronounced head. Size queens may find this toy satisfying on the other hand but g-spotting with it could be difficult since it's not specifically made with that in mind.
Playing with a partner is definitely a possibility with this dildo since it can be used with a harness but it is equally satisfying as a solo session toy. During sex may be a bit tricky but if you can figure it out that's a possibility as well, especially if you're into double penetration.
The Vamp is made from silicone which has a 10 out of 10 rating on the Eden materials safety scale. Silicone is food-grade material, hypo-allergenic, latex free, non-porous and phthalates free. It also repels dirt and bacteria and doesn't fall apart with extended friction.
The Vamp is pearly ivory in color and it is realistic looking with some veins and a pronounced head that make up the texture. Since this dildo is pearlescent it's pretty shiny but it's also smooth other than the light veiny texturing. The veins don't really do much to add to the stimulation but the pronounced head does very well in that respect. The Vamp is quite firm while still being a little plushy when squeezed so it isn't really recommended that beginners to penetration try this one.
Using this dildo without lubricant is not recommended because silicone has a tendency to really grab on skin. When choosing your lubricant be sure to leave out any kind other than water based. Silicone lubricant could possibly degrade the material of your toy so it isn't safe to use it with the Vamp.
As far as odors go there weren't any when opening the packaging for the Vamp but silicone is a bit of lint magnet. It picks up everything from hair to fuzz balls but it's easy enough to get it off; just wash it before and after every use and you shouldn't have a problem.
The Vamp is 6 3/4" in overall length with about 6 1/4" of it being insertable. It has a circumference of 5", a diameter of 1 1/2" and it weighs about 10 1/2 ounces. This dildo is realistic looking in that it has a very noticeable head with a really pronounced coronal ridge and some foreskin bunching right below it. The shaft contains some ridging and "veiny" detail but they really are not noticeable during use. After the shaft there is a widened base to the dildo, no realistic scrotum or testicles, that is great for anchoring the toy in a harness or keeping it from getting lost in your anal passage. This base also has the Tantus logo stamped into the silicone material on one side of it.
There are no gaps or seams anywhere to be found on the Vamp and it would be very easy to travel with it since you don't have to worry about the possibility of vibrating luggage. Just make sure you wrap the dildo or cover it somehow before packing it away so it doesn't get hairs and lint all over it while in transit.
There are so many great points about the Vamp but it's best feature is that it's versatile. It can be used vaginally or anally, warmed or cooled before use for temperature play and has a base that makes it great for harness use, anal penetration or suctions onto smooth surfaces to make riding the toy easier.
There are probably only a few things about the Vamp that are not that great; the size being one of them for many people. While this isn't the biggest dildo on the market it's still on the larger end of things and a lot of people will have an issue inserting this toy. The other downside to this toy is that the suction cup base will only work with a little bit of vigorous riding before popping off the surface it's stuck onto.
Other than that the Vamp is an exceptionally well made dildo and vampire fans will rejoice at its lovely pale appearance.
Since the Vamp is completely waterproof it can be submerged and easily cleaned by washing it with warm water and antibacterial soap or toy cleaner or wipe it down with toy and body wipes. To sterilize the dildo just boil for three minutes, toss in the top rack of the dishwasher without detergent or wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution. Just be sure to rinse it thoroughly to avoid getting harsh chemicals in sensitive body areas and dry with a lint-free cloth.
Store the dildo with other silicone or by itself but definitely cover it with a storage bag of some sort (it didn't come with one) to keep the lint and hair off of it as much as possible when stored away. Wash before and after every use and the lint shouldn't be a problem no matter where it's stored.
The Vamp came packaged in Tantus' usual clear and red plastic box with plastic insert to hold the toy. It has some information about the toy on the back of the packaging and the front shows the Tantus logo along with claiming "the world's best soft toys for adults" across the bottom.
There weren't any booklets, instructions or warranties included in the packaging but this dildo is easy enough to figure out. The packaging isn't discreet at all and should be wrapped if gifting it to someone else. It's also decent for storage if you can spare the space, otherwise just recycle it when empty.
Normally I'm not one to enjoy realistic dildos but this one just caught my eye being pale and somewhat sparkly. Granted it's a larger sized dildo but it's nothing I couldn't handle without some lube and warm up. Personally having the suction cup style base was handy and if I ever get a chance to I'll have a great dildo to use in my harness.
By the way, my hands are pretty small so this dildo may seem way larger than it actually is in my photos, just thought I'd mention that. From the tip of my middle finger to my wrist measures about 6 1/2" long and the palm of my hand from side to side is about 3" wide.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it5 months after original review
This is one of the best dildos I own and that's saying a lot because I don't typically like realistic looking ones. The Vamp is still in great condition and hasn't suffered any mishaps with the material, etc. It remains a favorite in my toy box.
