I Nicknamed Him "The Beast".

Although this toy didn't work out too well for me, I'm giving it four stars because, well, it deserves it. The Throb is a great toy for someone who loves veiny texture. I'm just not that someone. Size queens, beware. At a whopping insertable length of 5" and circumference of 4", this toy will be a great disappointment for you. For women like me who enjoy average sized dildos or have somewhat shallow vaginas, this toy will not disappoint, size-wise.

Use

Throb by Tantus is a gorgeous, matte black, silicone dildo. Because of his flared base, he's perfect for strap-on or anal play. Though due to his extremely pronounced bulbous head, he should probably not be used by the less experienced at anal. A word of caution: the head might catch on your pubic bone. He caught on mine a couple times. If you have never had a toy catch on your pubic bone, be forewarned. It's a bit painful and annoying.

Material / Texture

The Throb is made from 100% medical-grade silicone. Tantus' amazing silicone is phthalates and latex free, hypoallergenic, and non-porous. From what I noticed, the toy was odorless and tasteless. It's very rigid, with little give.

At first glance, this toy is perfect. And at second glance. And also a third. It's textured with extremely pronounced veins, which add lots of great stimulation. For me, they were too pronounced, and I personally didn't enjoy them as much as I thought I would.

Design / Shape / Size

It has the length and girth of an average size penis (5-6 inches long, 4 inches in circumference), but this is one of those toys that doesn't need to be long and thick. I don't usually enjoy large toys to begin with, so this one was perfect for me. My only complaint is the bulbous head and the way it caught on my pubic bone. This toy is not discreet at all. You probably wouldn't want to leave this one lying around, unless you don't care who knows about your sex toys.

Performance

My favorite thing about the Throb is the size and design. It's the absolute perfect size for me. The toy itself is awesome, but it's not the toy for me. The texture and head hurt me. And try as I might, I just couldn't use it. It was just too painful. As I have said before, don't let my personal preferences turn you off. If you love texture, I'm sure you will love the Throb. I just happen to enjoy smoother rides.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning is pretty simple. Wash with warm/hot water and mild antibacterial soap. Make sure to pay special attention to the grooves and valleys in the veins when washing. I noticed that lube is very attracted to those areas. The Throb's silicone material attracts lots of dust and hair (I have dogs, and I always seem to get fur on my silicone toys), so give it a quick bath before you use it, and store it in a bag or in the box it came in, like I do. Please please please stay away from silicone lubes as they could ruin your toy. Water-based only.
Follow-up commentary
I really can't emphasize enough how much I don't want the negativity of my opinion to influence the opinions of those who are interested in this toy. This is a wonderful toy; it just isn't for me.

I ended up giving it away shortly after writing my review (after thoroughly sanitizing it, of course) to my best friend, and she is absolutely in love with it. She says it's the best toy she has ever owned.

Even though the Throb didn't work out for me -- and I'm sorry it didn't because it's fantastic -- at least it makes my friend happy and isn't collecting dust in the bottom of my toy box.
