Maybe added to not stick to the cellophane? I don't know. I put it in the dishwasher and ran it through a quick cycle to remove whatever was on it. I removed the tiny bullet vibe that was shoved into the bottom of the toy before washing.

Sadly, it did not remove the film.

Because I have such sensitive skin, I had (and have to continue to) use a condom with the Hottie. Yes, it's rated 10 on the safety scale, but I still worry about that weird film. It's no big deal for me, but I have to point that out. The toy itself feels so good. It's just the right length (5 1/4") and the girth is wonderful (6 3/4").
