Great all-around beginner silicone dildo
This is exactly the beginner dildo I was looking for in terms of safe and forgiving silicone material, modest girth, medium length, and a curved shape with some gentle ridges for g-spot stimulation. Tantus quality combined with a good price and nice color completes what I was looking for, and we've been satisfied with our purchase.

Introduction:
I was looking for a very specific combination of features, and I compared many options. I was looking for a silicone dildo to use vaginally on a partner new to dildos. I was looking for a somewhat-realistic shape, a "just-right" size of not too much girth or length while being large enough to satisfy, and some curve or texture to hit the g-spot without an overly-aggressive texture that may cause discomfort. The Tantus Curve met all my requirements, and my partner and I have been very satisfied with the choice.
Material (silicone):
I chose silicone for its versatility; it has some give to minimize any discomfort, is a somewhat realistic texture, and is easy to keep clean. Having worked in the medical device field myself, I am glad that Tantus is using medical-grade platinum-cured silicone. There are many different silicones, but only medical-grade platinum-cured is FDA-approved for long-term use in the body. It is also phthalate-free. The dildo must not be used with silicone lube to prevent damage to it, but otherwise any water-based or oil-based lube is compatible. The silicone can also be warmed in hot water or cooled in the refrigerator before use for different temperature sensations. The silicone is easy to clean with water and cleaners and is chemical and heat resistant so it can be sterilized with bleach solution or by boiling for use between partners or for vaginal use after anal use. This silicone toy should be kept away from other silicone toys to prevent any sticking or bonding between toys, such as in a plastic or cloth bag. Like all silicone, it is a lint magnet but any lint can easily be rinsed off before use. Storing the dildo in a lint-free bag helps.
Design:
Tantus silicone dildos come in a variety of densities and textures. The Curve is relatively firm and has a textured surface instead of being shiny-smooth. When squeezed strongly between the fingers the Curve gives about 1/4" on each side but is otherwise solid throughout. The curve in the shaft is somewhat flexible and can be straightened with about 2 lbs of pressure, but is rigid enough to make insertion easy and to flex against the g-spot when inserted. The textured surface of the silicone provides some drag while in use and distributes and grips onto lube better than shiny-smooth silicone. I have the dark purple color, and the swirls are nice, but it is not as dark as pictured; mine is about halfway between the dark purple pictured and the regular purple.
The shape of the Curve is also what attracted me. It has a conical head followed by a small reduction in size, about 4 ridges going around the circumference of the top of the shaft, and two lengthwise ridges along the otherwise-smooth bottom of the shaft that provide rigidity and complete the realistic shape. The circumference at the widest point of the head is about 5" (1-9/16" diameter), which drops to about 4-1/2" circumference just under the head (1-7/16" diameter). The shaft narrows slightly then, with the peak of the first two ridges maintaining an approximate 4-1/2" circumference while the valleys of the ridges drop to as small as 4-1/4" circumference (1-3/8" diameter). After the first two ridges, the shaft slightly thickens again for the last two ridges as the shaft curves back up with the peak of the last ridge reaching the same 5" circumference as the widest point of the head. The insertable length is about 6-1/4" when measured along the curve of the shaft or 5-3/4" measured in a straight line out from the base. The base is a slightly drop-shaped oval about 3-1/2" by 3" around and about 1/2" thick. It provides a good grip and is firm enough for use in a harness. There are also two slight ridges at the top of the oval base that continue the ridging from the top of the shaft and these are perfectly positioned to provide some clitoral stimulation when fully inserted.
Similar alternatives:
The nearest alternatives I found to the Tantus Curve without being too large are the Happy Valley Delight and the Tantus Acute, although both have smaller girth at about 4-1/2" maximum circumference (1-7/16" diameter) but a similar length. With even less girth is the Happy Valley Slim Jim, and even slimmer but much longer is the Tantus Charmer.
Packaging:
The packaging is the same clear plastic box that all Tantus toys come in. While good enough for store display, it is not good for storage and you will likely discard it promptly. The packaging is very utilitarian, with large type and an unobstructed view of the toy, which is great. But there is nothing subtle or modest about the packaging other than that there is no nudity on the box.

Experience
When in use, my partner enjoys the curved shaft and exaggerated ridges along her g-spot, but the ridges are smooth enough to prevent any discomfort even during vigorous thrusting. My partner also loves to grind her clitoris against the ridges on the base when the dildo is fully inserted. The girth of the Curve is about average-sized, and the length is a little short. This met my requirements for a somewhat-realistic size. I wish the Curve was longer, but at this size the Curve is less likely to bruise any beginners which I assume is the target market. I did not want to trade-off material, design, and girth for a longer model that was too thick or had aggressive ribbing.
Follow-up commentary
8 months after original review
This is still one of our favorites. It's very comfortable to use, is a good size and is made of good material, and the ridges feel great. We have a few longer dildos we got so that we could go deeper, but for more shallow use and G-spot stimulation, I would buy this all over again if I had to. It's a great product with a great design!
