Curving Towards Ecstasy

The Tantus Curve is a wonderfully designed silicone dildo. It feels realistic, but does not look like a real penis. Its smaller size makes it a great beginner dildo for couples interested in strap-on play.

Use

The Curve is a silicone dildo from Tantus. It can be used for masturbation or by couples who enjoy gender play, which is how we plan to use it. It has a base and is o-ring compatible. Depending on your preference, this dildo can be used vaginally, anally, and even orally. It doesn't vibrate, but a vibrating cock ring could be added for this purpose.

Material / Texture

The Tantus Curve is made from high quality silicone, one of the safest materials for toys available. It doesn't have a strong odor. The material is firm, but spongy and I find it quite realistic. The surface texture has a soft, matte finish which kind of drags on the skin when it's not lubricated. It will pick up lint and hair easily. The Curve I have is a very cool looking color called Midnight Purple.

Design / Shape / Size

The Tantus Curve has an alien-like appearance. I'd say it's almost like the male counterpart to Fleshlight's Alien model. It's phallic-shaped, but does not look like an actual penis. Weighing in at about half a pound, it's also a little floppy. True to its name, it curves at an angle. This bend in the dildo begins about a third of the way up the shaft, adding to the unrealistic look. There's a thick, wide base that makes the Curve harness-compatible. At the top end of the Curve there's a slightly defined "head" and there are soft ridges along the main shaft.

Performance

I can only write about the Curve's performance as a strap-on dildo. For this purpose it performed very well and it fit nice and snug in our harness. The Curve was able to accommodate us in several positions. We were concerned about the angle of the curve, but there is enough play in the dildo (it's a little on the floppy side) that we did not experience any problems. Please see the Experience section of this review for more details.

Care and Maintenance

Silicone-based lube should never be used with the Tantus Curve. Other types of lube, including water-based, are perfectly fine. The silicone material is easy to take care of and clean. It can be sterilized by placing in boiling water for three minutes or washing in a 5% bleach solution. It could also be rinsed with anti-bacterial soap and warm water and is dishwasher safe. The material attracts hair and lint, so I recommend storing it something airtight, like a ziploc bag or Tupperware-like container.

Packaging

The Tantus Curve arrives in a clear, plastic case. I discarded the case as it's not really suited for storing. The information on the case is very generic and not specific to the Tantus Curve. There are no instructions included but instead there is a lot of information about the silicone material that Tantus uses in all of their products.

Experience

My partner and I have had some strap-on experience with the Tantus Acute and to be perfectly honest it really wasn't that great due to it's small size. We were excited to try out the Tantus Curve which is a step up in size.

My partner put on her harness and after inserting the Curve she was ready to go. The first position we tried was doggy-style. Sufficiently prepped with lubrication she slowly worked the dildo in and we were both surprised that it went in without much resistance. I could definitely feel the head "pop" as it entered, but as the dildo went deeper I didn't really notice the ridges much at all. Next, we switched positions so that I was lying on my back. I used pillows to prop up myself for easier access and my partner was able to easily insert the dildo and rock back and forth. I enjoyed each positions about the same. The third position we tried was with me on top. I was able insert it, but it was difficult to move up and down without the dildo slipping out. The Curve is just too short and floppy for it work for us in this position.

The Curve is curved and has the potential for prostate stimulation. When positioned on my back, and the Curve is bending upward, it should make good contact with my prostate. However, I think that it just misses mine, which might be due to my partner using longer strokes and going just past it. I'm fine with this because I've got other toys that work better for prostate stimulation. Physically, the enjoyment I get from this is from penetration. Psychologically, my partner and I both enjoy the role reversal.
