It's no secret Tantus has some of the finest silicone toys around but it bears mentioning right off the bat that although this looks like a regular 'ol dildo, this particular item is designed first and foremost for anal play. The shape, the thickness, the texture are all chosen with the anatomy of the hiney in mind. Some people have had some good luck with this vaginally but others have not. Keep this in mind before buying, it would be a shame if something this good didn't live up to your expectations. The curve and bulge allow stimulation of the prostate as well as the G-spot if you wanted, though for G-spot stimulation you would generally want a more pronounced curve and some texture on the bulge. There is a decent sized base that makes this toy very harness compatible, indeed that was the idea from the very start. All things considered, I would call this an excellent pegging toy.

Tantus is well known for having some of the highest quality and best designed silicone toys on the market today. Unlike some of Tantus' more textured toys, the General is silky smooth and aside from the typical velvety feel of smooth poured silicone, has no noticeable texture at all. My model is bright fire engine red and the light color allowed me to examine this toy very closely and see detail that I might have missed had I gone for the usual black version. Despite being poured into a mold as liquid silicone and allowed to harden, I found no trace of seams or other imperfections you usually find in molded items. That's great to see because even the smallest seam or dimple would be very noticeable on such an otherwise featureless surface.

Tantus uses a range of silicone types in their toys based on the perceived usage and target audience. The Tantus Hoss for example is so rigid and hard that it could punch a hole in a wall without so much as a dent. I am happy to report the General is not nearly so unyielding. The General's silicone makeup seems to be the same as what you find in the Tantus A Bomb. Firm but still soft enough to dimple under finger pressure, and enough flex to be bent from side to side without much force.

The design of the General is a non-realistic dildo which should appeal to users uncomfortable with the idea of a dildo that looks like a real penis. Overall it's quite large, at a full 2.25 inches in diameter at its thickest point. Rather than going for the usual design of a large head and glans transitioning to a shaft that thickens slightly as you get to the base, the General has a slight curve with increasingly large bulges along the shaft. There is no texture to be found on the bulges or anywhere else for that matter, the General remains smooth from top to bottom.

The size is the tricky part of this toy. While it is designed for anal usage, its sheer size will make that a challenge for anal beginners. In fact, people using this vaginally will probably have better luck at first though this is still a respectable size for vaginal use as well. The sensation is very filling, since Tantus used a softer silicone in this toy you get that filled feeling without the hard rigidity of a harder toy. This feature makes the General a nice choice for vaginal use and is key to its success as an anal toy. Since this is a big toy it has a big base and you will likely find you need an oversized O-ring to use it in a harness.

Since the General has a fairly specific usage, you should keep this in mind if you intend to use this toy. It lacks texture and some will not like that. It lacks a sharp curve for G-spot stimulation and some will not like that either. What it does have is a thick, yielding body that fills you completely no matter what orifice you have it in. This is something I like a lot about the Tantus toys. Even when you are pushing your limits the silicone is soft enough that you don't feel like you are splitting apart, you just feel full. That fullness is another nice feature when used as an anal toy since you don't want too much texture in such a tight and sensitive area.

Tantus silicone doesn't have a lot of requirements for care and maintenance. If it needs to be cleaned or sterilized you can put the General in the dishwasher or in a pot of boiling water, otherwise soap and water or an antibacterial toy wipe will do. Since silicone is non-porous you don't have to worry about any wee nasties getting into the material itself and causing trouble later. As far as lubes go, water based are great, oil based are less great but will still work, and silicone based will pretty much ruin your expensive new toy. I keep mine in a gallon sized ziploc in my toybox and I haven't had any issues yet.
