Joque's Thong-Style Fraternal Twin, Theo

Theo is Joque's thong-style counterpart. It's made of the same luxurious spandex/polyester material, fits a wide ranges of sizes, and can be used under water. Though it's a bit too bulky for packing, it works perfectly for sex for many people: genderqueer or trans- individuals, women who peg partners, lesbian couples, etc. It's the perfect thong-style harness, and lasts a very, very long time.

Use

Theo is a thong-style harness (and an extremely comfortable one, at that); it is not a panty style that hugs where the bum slit is—it rides between the cheeks, but can be easily adjusted to not move on the tush in any uncomfortable way. When in use, it stays in place perfectly and enables smooth, easy movements. It can be used in a number of different ways, like packing, pegging, having sex, double penetration, etc., but its best use is certainly when it's used in the bedroom (or outside of the bedroom, wherever you make love). When it's used for packing, the design is a bit bulky, even under larger jeans or pants.

When putting the harness on yourself before use (I recommend washing this harness before wearing it—before washing, read the Care/Maintenance section of my review—since I put an attachment of mine in its o-ring and it got a bit stained), you can adjust it in two different ways for a perfect fit: around the hips with the velcro and extra adjustment straps and under the body to the bum with the snap strap. Though it's easy to adjust, it's better that it's adjusted before using it on someone; it can get tedious because it does take a bit of time to understand and get used to.

Since Theo has an opening where the attachment will sit, Theo is perfect for penetration of the wearer as well as the receiver. Double-ended dildos like the Share, Feeldoe, and Tango will be easily worn with Theo holding them in place. Though I don't personally use it in this way, it does work like a charm. You can also take two dildos, one inside the o-ring and the other inside the pouch, for internal stimulation. Because the material used transmits motions perfectly, use of a vibrating dildo will give easy orgasms.

Material

The material Theo is made out of is to die for—literally, it is. I'd already been lusting over the Joque harness, but now that I have the Theo and have felt how comfortable the spandex/polyester mix is, I am at the point of needing that harness. The spandex/polyester mix, usually used in bathing suits, is stretchy and form-hugging, making it an extremely luxurious material for strap-on harnesses. It can be worn at any time of the day and in any place without getting sweaty or becoming uncomfortable, and its best part is how easy it is to wash and keep clean.

When I mentioned bathing suits, did your ears perk up? Well, they should have. Theo can be used for underwater sex and still remain comfortable without becoming too tight or sticking to the skin too much. I would not, however, recommend using it in a chlorinated pool. The chlorine might wash out the color, and that wouldn't be too attractive. However, using it inside the shower, jacuzzi, or bathtub are all exceptional places to try out Theo.

Design / Craftsmanship

Theo is a thong-style harness, but isn't a g-string. It literally is a thong. Actually, when I hold it out to look at it, it's comparable to a sumo-wrestler's body garment. You can adjust Theo in two different ways: by the strap around the waist/hips (which is adjusted by velcro and a backpack buckle) and under the body (adjusted by a set of snaps). Both are very well-made and easily accommodate many different body shapes, though it does take a bit of time alone to adjust. The waist strap can accommodate hips sized at 20" to 50", and the strap underneath the body has ten different snap places, allowing people of different heights too. You can wear Theo either high on the hips, or low on the hips—I personally found it more comfortable when it was lower, since this gave more natural physical stimulation.

There are three different pockets on Theo in total. The first is the front pocket, where the internal and external attachments sit. Where Theo lays against the body are the flaps that hold the external dildo in place, one sitting over the other. A layer of very comfortable mesh material sits on top of a layer made of the spandex/polyester mix, with the mesh being the fabric that mostly touches the body. Both are lined with the spandex/polyester material, which is the only thing that will touch the attachments being used.

The next are the two back pockets, one on top of the other. The inner most pocket, closest to the body, is a condom pocket, promoting safe-sex. Considering the high rates of STDs and HIV/AIDS, this is a perfect little reminder to have. You can fit two condoms carefully, which is a good thing—whenever you run out, always stock up with two more! The outer pocket isn't really a pocket at all (I call it the "poke-through pocket)—I'm actually still trying to figure out its purpose. It's a layer of spandex sitting on top of the condom pocket that is open both on the bottom and top. I originally thought that maybe it was there to hold any excess from the strap underneath the body—but truly, I do not know what it's there for.

SpareParts harnesses all use a noninterchangeable o-ring that, in my opinion, isn't stretchy at all. From what I had read on other reviews, I had originally thought that the o-ring was very stretchy and elastic, but it isn't. It's actually very tight, and the ring is quite thick. You can fit dildos about 1 1/4" in diameter, which isn't very big, but works just fine. It will stretch to accommodate dildos of 1 3/4" diameters, but the o-ring will not allow anything bigger than that unless you really squeeze it in.

This is a more feminine harness than SpareParts' Joque style, not only because it's a thong-style (because there are quite a few thong-styles that are quite masculine, like the Double-Up Harness), but also because of the added embellishments on the front and back. On the front, there is one little pearlescent jewel that's smooth and round, and on the back piece (in a triangle shape on the poke-through pocket) there are three of the same jewels. To me, these make it have a feminine touch, but I do not think that it's overdone or that it makes the harness too feminine for men to wear.

Size / Fit

The size A (or small) model of Theo fits sizes 20" to 50", a great range, whereas the size B (large) model fits 35" to 65". When I received my small model and tried it on, it fit me perfectly—I didn't have to adjust it whatsoever—so, since I'm a 26"x28" pants size, I'd assume that around 25" hip size is ideal for the smallest setting with this size harness. The reason why I say that is because adjusting bigger with the harness is no problem at all, but to adjust smaller is really a hassle. It makes the straps around the hips a bit uncomfortable. Just know your size before you buy and you should be fine.

Performance

Though I'm not fond of thong-style harnesses, I will say that this is a lovely little one. It's comfortable enough to not bother me when it's hugging bothersome places, and fits my form well enough to not make me feel like it's too feminine. When I tried it on without anything under it, I was surprised that I didn't feel indecent or uncomfortable with how it fit. It is very low fitting on me, and the front piece does show a lot of the pubic region—I recommend shaving.

Now, how about how it worked when it was on me? I will say that, though it didn't feel like a "second skin," it felt like something very close to it. Thrusting with it doesn't hurt in any way and it's even very pleasurable; the o-ring's placement is quite perfect. Using it in the water is really where it shines. It allows easy movements, and it doesn't shift around. Of course, once you come out of the water, it does become slightly tight to the skin, but that did not bother me.

Care and Maintenance

Before using this harness and even trying it on with a few attachments to see how it looks, wash it alone, either in the machine or sink, with a mild detergent or soap. The dyes from this harness will stain attachments, easily and thoroughly—do not take any chances. Thankfully, I only put an already messed up attachment of mine in it, so none of my perfectly untouched penises were affected. After it's done washing, wring it out and hang it up to dry. Putting it in the drier may cause some fabric beads to form, and those are unattractive; refraining from doing this will also keep the harness looking fresh and new for a long time.

Packaging

Theo comes packed in a little drawstring pouch matching its color and design. The pouch comes in a plastic baggie. I do suggest keeping the pouch, because it's an ideal place for keeping your harness. Attached to the pouch is a tag that suggests that you "wash your product with mild detergent, separately by hand or machine, before use to remove any residual dyes." Should have taken their suggestion...

Personal comments

There is a lot to talk about with Theo's design, because it's very complex but simple at the same time. There are so many parts to it that need to get covered: the front pocket, the back pocket, the underneath strap, the ring, and the hip strap. Oh, and I forgot: the o-ring. When I was thinking of writing about Theo, it made my head spin!

But you know what, it's worth it. The Theo harness is a wonderful, well-made harness. If you look on SpareParts discussion board, I had made a post about why their harnesses are so much money; and I understand exactly why they are now. I hadn't thought that a harness could be so comfortable and even "enjoyable" to wear. Theo certainly is.

Thank you, Sammi. It is very lovely! (Though I'm personally fond of jock-strap harnesses.)

I'm a little confused, in your sizing section you say you received the small but in the title it says the large? If you did indeed receive the large, try the small for packing- it fit perfectly under a pair of jeans, then again I wear my jeans a little loose.

I received the small, yes, Sleeping Dreamer. They originally sent me the large for the review, but I sent it back to get the small because the large wouldn't adjust down to my size. (I believe that they're going to merge the two into one product page, that's why Gary said that it was alright for me to just write my review as it was.) And I did indeed try it under my jeans, but I personally thought that it felt too bulky, as opposed to my other packing straps. Thank you, though, for the comment!

Mine was perfect for packing under jeans, but I'm a medium sized guy, so it was like my regular breifs, except the thong part felt a little bit weird to me.
  • Contributor: Sir
I didn't like to pack with it because I generally do not use anything to hold my packers, so it was obviously more bulky. I'm also fairly thin, so it isn't something that wouldn't be noticeable under jeans. But thank you for the comment!

Thank you for mentioning the feeldoe - I was hoping this one would fit mine. I think this sounds like an excellent product and I hope to be able to get one soon. My feeldoe is lonely!

Do you think the belt part material is strong enough to hold, say, a holster for a gun?
