Not every person is born with a penis and for those who'd like the experience of "owning" one (or for those that have a penis, they know that it may not cooperate when you always want it to), strap-on harnesses exist. A strap-on harness allows the user to strap a dildo or vibrator straight to their body to mimic the angle and sensation of a penis. In particular, this type of strap-on harness straps the dildo on to the person's waist. Any type of dildo or vibrator is compatible as long as it has a flared base and doesn't have a diameter of larger than an inch and a half.

This particular harness is made from leather and metal, and it's a double-strap type of harness. This means that the harness wraps around your waist as well as having two straps that go underneath the butt cheeks for extra support (much like the design of a jock strap). There are two adjustable buckles on both hips of the harness as well as two adjustable buckles on the two under-butt straps. The Jolly Rider Sr. can fit a maximum waist size of 45 inches, and it has no minimum size since the straps are adjustable. This red leather harness also includes two different metal O-rings: a 1 1/4" O-ring as well as a 1 1/2" O-ring. These O-rings are interchangeable via the snaps in the front of the harness to get a snug fit for whatever dildo you're using with it.

Since this harness is made from leather, it's not designed for use in water, and it does require special cleaning and use considerations.

The entire Jolly Rider Sr. is made from leather with metal bits for clasps and stability. The leather has a very strong leather scent - which, in many kink communities, is considered to be a sexual and enjoyable scent. The scent does not get in the way at all, and it is strongest when the strap-on harness is first taken out of the packaging.

The leather itself is softened. The outer leather material feels more like what most people imagine when they think of "leather"; it's comfortable, slick on the fingers, and has a slight shine to it. The inner leather material (the side that will touch the wearer's body) is softened leather that feels slightly like suede. It has a texture to it, but it's not an uncomfortable texture. This texture may be uncomfortable if it continually rubs against the body in the same area over and over, but if that is happening, it may be because the harness is not properly fitted, and you should stop what you're doing and adjust the buckles on the harness to make the strap-on harness fit properly.

Aside from the inner suede-like texture, the Jolly Rider Sr. has no other intended texture.

The Jolly Rider Sr. seems very well-made. At any place where the materials met and needed to fasten, there is a metal rivet holding the two pieces together. All of the holes along the adjustable buckles are completely clear of any fabric. The leather of the harness is flexible enough that adjusting the adjustable areas is very simplistic, and it's not a harness where you'll need to "break in" the leather to get it to move around comfortably.

The Jolly Rider Sr. also features an interchangeable O-ring. Both O-rings that the harness includes are made from metal, but due to the design, you can use your favorite O-ring with this harness as well. There are three snaps that hold the O-ring onto the harness. By unsnapping these snaps, the O-ring easily comes off which allows for the changing of dildos without fully taking off the harness. The snaps hold tightly well, and they also come apart very simply without much effort when pressure is applied. There has been no issue with the snaps coming undone when it was not intended. There are also two snaps at each of the three points, so the angle of the dildo can be adjusted if a different angle would be preferred.

On some of the metal pieces (such as the buckles) some of the chrome-colored paint is chipping off. This reveals a less-shiny material underneath. This has happened in multiple of the buckles, but it's very, very minor, and it's nearly-impossible to notice unless you're going over the harness with a fine-toothed comb (like I am). The loss of paint doesn't seem to affect the performance of the buckles in any way.

The Jolly Rider Sr. is designed to fit up to a waist size of 45". Aside from this measurement, the harness does not have any other measurements attached to it. If your hips are much larger than normal, you may still have issues if your waist measurement is still correct, but otherwise, the strap-on harness should fit.

The Jolly Rider Sr. harness has multiple points of adjustment. In this jock-style harness, there are buckles on each of the straps that go underneath the butt cheeks. These, because they are standard buckles where the straps must be threaded through a hole, are difficult to fasten quickly while the harness is worn. For ease of use, it's recommended that these straps be fastened to the correct size before you start with the sexual use. Along with this, there are two buckles on both of the waist straps. The size of the harness can easily be adjusted on both sides of the waist for the perfect fit. Again, these are a pain to adjust right during use, so it's recommended that you have them semi-near what the optimal setting would be for your body before you start play.

Aside from the four buckles that this leather strap-on harness has, the two under-butt straps will slide back and forth for comfort along the waist strap for the best fit.

All of the buckles have quite a few holes along the leather straps, so the buckles can be minutely adjusted to the perfect fit for an individual body. This allows for a wide range of sizing, but due to the limitations of the material, it still is only designed to fit up to a 45" waist.

The Jolly Rider Sr. harness is simple to put on, and once on, does exactly what it's supposed to do. It holds the dildo on the pubic area (unlike some strap-on harnesses that seem to fasten the dildo higher up). If you want to have it higher along the body, it's a bit more difficult to do. The under-butt straps can be loosened, but it'll only afford you a bit of extra leeway. For the most part, this was designed to hold the dildo on the pubic area.

Depending on how long you're using it as well as what the temperature is in the room (which makes the body sweaty), the Jolly Rider Sr. can chafe at times. The riveting that holds the buckle on firming also made for a folding of material that presses against the body. If you don't have the harness snugly fastened (or there's a wet/sweaty surface that allows the harness to move), the harness rubs back and forth and can chafe. This doesn't seem to happen with a dry body or with the harness snugly worn on the body.

Depending on your material tolerance, the leather material of the harness could also feel itchy. The side of the leather that touches the body is softened, but not fully so, so it doesn't produce a slight itchy feeling if there's any sort of rubbing. Again, this is avoided by making sure that the harness fits as snugly as possible, but if there's some sort of fitting issue that makes it slightly loose, this is a problem you may want to look out for.

Aside from that, though, the Jolly Rider Sr. works exactly as it claims. It holds the dildo/vibrator in place well, makes it easy to switch out sex toys, allows for a good amount of adjustment, and looks fancy.

The Jolly Rider Sr. is made out of leather and metal. As such, long-term care for this harness requires forethought. Leather doesn't particularly take well to harsh soaps and cleaning, so a cloth slightly dampened by warm water is recommended for cleaning. With this in mind, the strap-on harness should be considered fluid-bonded because it cannot be fully sterilized for use with multiple partners. To avoid harming the leather, clean-up of lubricant and other fluids should be done promptly after play.

The Jolly Rider Sr. strap-on harness comes in a resealable bag that is definitely suitable for storage. Take care to avoid making too many extra creases in the material for storage. Leather tends to "remember" how it’s stored, and if stored that way for a long time, it may keep creases in the material.

The Jolly Rider Sr. harness doesn't have any particular packaging. This harness comes packaged in a clear, plastic bag that clearly shows the harness through the bag. This bag is resealable via the zipper-type seal near the top of the bag. The harness itself has a small hangtag on it that's hanging off of the leather; it's very simple to remove this tag.

No instructions are included for use. The bag is completely see-through, so it's not suitable for discreet storage. However, the bag is resealable, so this bag can be used to protect your leather harness from moisture and harm between uses.
