This is a great dildo to start exploring anal play with, especially if using a harness. It provides lots of stimulation and fun. Its non-phallic shape and fun colors are a nice addition (especially for the first time on a male who may have slight reservations). Overall, I think it is a great toy and a great purchase.

Pros
great for beginners, silicone, non-phallic, pleasant texture
The Charmer by Tantus is a silicone dildo. This dildo can be used vaginally or anally. My girlfriend and I bought this dildo to use for pegging, so that is what this review will primarily focus on.
The dildo is harness compatible, so we pull out our Aslan Cherry Jaguar harness and insert it and then play. The toy needs lubrication (especially if being used anally), but remember to avoid silicone based lubes. The Charmer is quite flexible so while inserting it, it works best to grab the base and help guide it in, but once in, it stays there and does not need any help. We found the harness kept it in place and it was fun and enjoyable for her to thrust without worrying about the dildo. Because of the flex in the dildo I do not think there should be any positions this dildo does not work with. I think it has enough flex to follow your colon in any position, but I will update in a follow up review after we have tried more positions. We have currently tried only doggie style position with it, but it worked well.
I think the toy is great for both beginners and for people who have played with anal toys before. The toy is not overly large. It is actually quite similar to the size of my penis. So I think it provides lots of stimulation without being too large or intimidating.
If you want really easy clean up you can place a condom on the dildo. That way when you are done you can throw the condom away and don't need to worry about any mess. I don't think it would be a problem to use without a condom. I would just wipe it off while it is still in the harness to prevent any mess getting on the harness (especially if it is leather. Leather is a lot harder to clean then silicone). And then just remove the dildo and wash with soap and water.
The toy has a flared base for using with a harness and this makes it very safe for anal play. The base is large enough that there should be no worry with losing this toy in your ass. I just can not see it happening.
The only precaution I have is go slow with this toy. It does have some length to it, so let your body accommodate to it. You might bruise something if you tried thrusting the entire thing in without enough warm up. I never had any problem with soreness, but we start out nice and slow.
The toy is made out of pure silicone. This means it is extremely body safe and can be sterilized.
The toy has no odor or smell at all. Even after using this toy anally it smells like it came out of the box. It also has no taste. My girlfriend likes when I give her blowjobs with this toy in her harness. Now I only do this before the toy goes into me, but there is zero taste, zero smell, zero grossness even though this toy has previously been in my ass.
The toy is a little velvety to the touch, but mostly smooth. I think it feels great. It slides nicely and provides nice stimulation and sensations. It is a little bit flimsy and bendy, but not anything I would complain about. This can make insertion a little bit more difficult, but I think this is a bonus once it is inserted.
The toy is pretty non-phallic. It does not look like a penis. No veins, no bulbous head, and it has bumps.
The Charmer is a silicone dildo with a diameter of 1 1/8". This translates to roughly the same size as my penis for some comparison. It is 7" long and 6 1/2" of that is insertable. This dildo is harness compatible but the base could be a little thicker or wider. My girlfriend likes handjobs while she is wearing a strap-on and sometimes if they get faster and harder the dildo will pop out of the harness, but it worked well during pegging. Depending on your play style and harness (we have the Cherry Jaguar) this could be a problem.
We use this dildo primarily for anal sex. I think it is a good size for it. As I said earlier it is a similar size to my penis. So it does take some warm up to play with, but is not a giant beast that would make you cringe. I think average users would be able to use this toy as long as they knew about anal sex and used lubrication and adequate foreplay.
The Charmer is textured. It has 4 bumps along the shaft of the dildo. I think they feel really good. They add some sensation and you can feel them as they thrust in and out. The dildo has some slight curve upwards, so you might get some prostate stimulation, but it is definitely not as aggressive as other dildos out there.
The toy is non-phallic looking for me, which I enjoy. I think it separates them as toys from my penis more definitively.
We did use this toy on my girlfriend once and she described it as feeling very smooth. It fit in easily with some lubrication. It was long enough that it was uncomfortable to insert the entire way until she was more warmed up. Other reviews probably have more information from a female perspective.
I think this toy performed great. I wanted something for pegging that was easy to insert, easy to clean up after, and provided lots of stimulation. This toy delivered. The ridges felt nice and it had a good texture, good length, and good girth. Overall I have nothing to complain about it's performance.
Because this toy is made out of silicone it is very easy to maintain. To clean, you you just need to wash it with soapy water. If you are going to switch partners with it you can also sterilize it either with a 10% bleach solution, boil it for three minutes, or sticking it in the dishwasher on the top rack with no soap.
Silicone toys are best to store away from each other, because they can interact with each other and cause damage to each other. I store mine in a Ziploc bag. As long as it is stored away from other silicone toys you would not need to use a bag.
This toy is made of silicone and should not be used with a silicone based lube. It should only be used with a water or an oil based lube. (oil based lube is bad vaginally, but can be used anally).
The toy can collect dust, so a quick rinse before use is never a bad idea, but I think that holds true with just about every toy.
The charmer comes in a see through plastic box. It is held in the box with another piece of plastic that is shaped like the dildo. The packaging is not very discreet, but I did not have a problem with that. It is pretty basic packaging that I think you will probably throw away. I think the packaging would be too big and bulky to use for storage of the dildo.
Not discreet
Follow-up commentaryI still like it2 months after original review
This is still our go to dildo during pegging sessions. It is a nice size that provides lots of stimulation with the bumps. I would still recommend this toy to anyone interested in pegging. It is a great toy. I have not noticed any problems with the toy at all. And I do not expect to for a long time. Tantus makes good quality products.
