This includes 35 feet of soft, braided, purple Japanese silk rope and a free black mask for blindfolding. It is designed for very light bondage situations where you want to have a partner restrained. It is best suited for beginners and those who do not care if they are restrained well and can get free easily. It is not suitable for advanced bondage users, those that play rough, or move around alot.

It is nice that this is offered in purple because it adds a nice feminine touch to bondage and a fun way to spice up the bedroom. The length is quite long so you will be able to restrain your partner's body in any way that you could possibly want to. The possibilities are limited to your own imagination.

The package mentions with this super soft Japanese silk rope, you don't have to be an expert to enjoy the pleasure of Japanese style bondage play. It's ideal for those who simply want to tie their partners hands or feet, but long enough and durable enough for those who want to engage in Shibari style rope bondage. I didn't know what Shibari style rope bondage was so I went to Wikipedia to find out.

According to Wikipedia, Shibari is a Japanese word that literally means "to tie" or "to bind". It is used in Japan to describe the artful use of twine to tie objects or packages. The word shibari came into common use in the West at some point in the 1990s to describe the bondage art Kinbaku. Kinbaku is a Japanese style of bondage or BDSM which involves tying up the bottom using simple yet visually intricate patterns, usually with several pieces of thin rope. The aesthetics of the bound person's position is important: in particular, Japanese bondage is distinguished by its use of specific forms and aesthetic rules. Sometimes, asymmetric and often intentionally uncomfortable positions are employed, often giving choice of two 'evils' (two uncomfortable positions to choose between by moving in the ropes) to heighten the psychological impact of the bondage. In particular, Japanese bondage is very much about the way the rope is applied and the pleasure is more in the journey than the destination. In this way the rope becomes an extension of the tiers hands and is used to communicate.

Size:
The rope is 1/4" thick and 35 feet long and is perfect for creating elaborate body harnesses and rope restraints. My husband and I can't create elaborate harnesses or restraints, but it was long enough for our purposes. The length allows for limitless possibilites for restraiing. You can easily wrap around your chest many times, ties your hand and feet together, tie your body to a piece of furniture, etc.

Material:
The Pipedream "Fetish Fantasy Japanese Silk Rope" is made from silk which is a natural protein fiber that can be woven into textiles. It is very soft , comfortable, and does not hurt or irritate the skin when being restrained like it does if you are using handcuffs or regular rope from the hardware store. It comes in four different colors to choose from: red, pink, purple, and black. One of my favorite colors is purple so I chose that.

Craftsmanship:
I find the ends to be a very cheap metallic paper tape that is wrapped around the ends to keep the rope from unraveling. I do not consider it to be constructed very well, and would have liked for there to be some other type of end such as metal that could hold up well for long periods of time.

You will not be able to cut this rope into shorter pieces or it will unravel on you so please keep that in mind. I do not consider the rope to be crafted with advanced users in mind. It is durable enough for very light play and suits our needs, but I do not see it holding up to any rough play. The rope is braided together allowing it to stay together nicely.

My partner suggested that we get some rope to tie me up with so I purchased this because it was pretty. I know, that's not the best way to decide on something, but we're beginners and this was inexpensive so I ordered it based on color and price. As I just stated, we are not into hardcore bondage and are considered beginners. We do not intentionally try to hurt each other when playing around in the bedroom, but like the idea of being restrained in different positions to add something a little extra to our play. This is perfect for us and our needs. It is a fun, flirty rope that is very soft and does not irritate the skin or cause any discomfort at all when using.

As I mentioned earlier, it is great for our needs, but probably will not meet the needs of advanced users. I believe we will have many nights of play with this, but we are just using it for fun and are not trying to escape the restraints or putting the rope under extreme pressure or conditions.

As far a s tying knots goes, my husband does not have a hard time doing it, and we are able to get the knots untied fairly easy so you do not have to worry about that.

This is not meant to be a suspension device, so please do not use it in that manner.

Silk can not stand high temperatures so never soak, boil or bleach silk. Silk may be hand-washed in tepid water (35°C maximum) with the addition of a washing product for delicate lingerie e.g., soap flakes or gentle detergent. Rinse thoroughly three times using hand hot water for each rinse. Allow drying if necessary in an airy place away from the sun and direct heat and use a cool iron taking special care not to apply too great pressure over the seams.
