Pros
Leather, design, aesthetics.
Cons
None, really.
These black leather wrist restraints with PHS International’s “signature playful red leather heart inlay design” are fun and functional. I like the subtlety of the red thread and small, inlayed red leather hearts, as they add a touch of softness and whimsy to the stern-looking black leather and metal studs and buckles, without striking a frivolous note the way other design-embellished cuffs might.
The restraints adjust to fit a wide range of wrist sizes, with eleven holes for the buckle. I do think it would be nearly impossible to actually use the tightest 2 or 3 holes, but the remaining holes make the restraints fit everything from a small, feminine wrist to a thick, manly one. My own wrists are about as wide around as a medium-to-large man’s, and they fit perfectly with three holes to spare. Of course, if you want to find a perfect fit for a particular person, you could find another type of restraint. If, however, you wish to use these over a long period of time and/or on multiple people, the adjustability of these restraints is a definite plus.
These restraints are not padded inside, but they do feature very soft suede along every interior part that touches the wearer’s skin. They feature “turned and sewn edges, adjustable buckles and ultra soft-suede lining” according to the package insert, and I’d have to agree. The edges are sealed and rounded and not rough against your skin. The O-ring is sturdily attached to the restraint, and I think it would do a good job of restraining a strong person. The interior parts of the metal studs do not come into contact with the wearer’s skin. The package itself is a simple, disposable, hard plastic shell, and the graphics are run-of-the-mill but not as tacky as they could be. These are not top-of-the line wrist restraints that cost $200+, but they looks sturdy enough to last through years of play if well-cared for.
In sum, I can enthusiastically recommend these cuffs to anyone who enjoys their aesthetics. Buy some bondage rope or some tethers and get creative. You could run connectors under the bed, through bed posts, around a door to create a lot of scenarios. The would also work beautifully attached to a spreader bar with connectors that are cheap at hardware and BDSM supply stores. The possibilities really are endless.
