A blindfold is a piece of garment that’s worn around someone’s head to block out his/her sight. It can be used during sleep to block out light, or anytime a blindfold is needed, for example, a surprise party. Soft Blindfold made by Sportsheets suggests sexual functions of blindfold with its packaging. During sexual encounters, a blindfold can focus your partner’s concentration on sound, smell and physical contact by blocking out his/her sight. It’s adequate for advanced users, yet simple enough for beginners who are just exploring sexual variety. In BDSM situations, a blindfold can be worn by the submissive. The Soft Blindfold consists of an elastic headband and a faux velvet mask. The mask feels like a cross between felt and velvet. It is soft and furry to the touch, and my hand glides smoothly across its surface. The mask does not stretch, but it is flexible and will hug the contours of your face. The headband is quite stretchy horizontally but not vertically. It feels a little rough on the inside when stretched, but it isn’t harsh against the skin.

A double zigzag stitch connects the mask to the headband on both sides. The stitching seems sturdy enough for the purpose of this headband. The construction of the headband feels a bit cheap, but it has lasted us so far in our play (about one hour combined). There are some lose thread. I do not see any wear and tear on the fabric.




There is no list of materials on the packaging, only the tactile sensations of the blindfold. The design of the Soft Blindfold is satisfactory for its price range. The overall construction feels a bit cheap and lackluster, the mask and elastic headband feel thin and unpadded. Then again, I bought the product for a cheap price. The faux velvet feels smooth and soft, and it is comfortable against my skin.

The elastic headband is not really adjustable, only stretchy horizontally. The fit is pretty snug around my head, but uncomfortable on my eyes. This is because of the placement of the elastic band; it is connected to the mask near the center instead of the top of the fabric, so most of the pressure is concentrated on the eye area instead of the brow area. This fundamental flaw in design can be easily remedied if the headband was attached nearer the top of the mask, but this would require a more rectangular shape to the mask (the tops of this mask looks more diamond-shaped).

When I put on this mask, I can see small slivers of light on the bridge of my nose. It’s not a perfect fit and does not block out 100% of the light. This is sufficient for most people, but if you need 100% blockage you should probably look for another blindfold, or attempt to modify this one by trimming the cover to better fit your face.

Another issue I have with this blindfold is that the most constricting area is actually not on my eyebrows, but on my eyelids when my eyes are closed. This makes wearing the blindfold slightly uncomfortable from the moment I put it on. I imagine this is less of an issue if your brow ridge is more protruding, or your eyes are more deeply set than mine. For example, this affected my boyfriend less because his brow ridge is more prominent than mine. He says he can feel the mask on his eyelids, but they are not uncomfortable or constricting.

I suppose this can be fixed by attaching (with tape or sewing) some padding in the form of foam or other cloth along the top of the mask. This will increase the distance between the mask and the eyelids. However, this will also increase the gap between the nose bridge, and more light will be coming through. At this point, you could attach more padding to the nose bridge to block some light. Either way, the construction is not friendly to people with flatter faces, so I would advise against buying this blindfold if you have a flatter face (i.e. not very pronounced brow ridge, shallow inset eyes).

There are no care or maintenance instructions, and no list of materials on the packaging. Due to the lack of information, I cannot safely say that the color of the fabric will not fade due to washing, or dye other garments. I will recommend cold wash separately, or hand wash, and use mild soap or detergent on stains. Air dry is probably best. You can fold it up compactly and store it anywhere.

The blindfold came in a simple cardboard box with a couple on the cover and a one-sentence description of the tactile sensation of the product. There is no additional information about the product, only company information on the bottom. The box could easily have been smaller in size, and I will not be using it for storing the blindfold.

I simply cannot wear this blindfold and use it for its intended purpose because of the pressure against my eyeballs. My boyfriend does not have this problem because of his facial structure. This blindfold is solely used on him now.

This blindfold is adequate for your needs if you have the suitable facial structure. If you lack a pronounced brow ridge or slightly inset eyes, I recommend staying away from this product because it will apply pressure directly to your eyeballs. You really get what you pay for – it’s cheap, but it feels cheap too.
