The Alligator Y style clamp set is great for beginners, and I'm sure the experienced would appreciate it for the same reason -- its ease of adjusting. The clamps are designed to accommodate any size, so you can get the perfect fit. The clamps are simple to adjust, but it may take a bit of time to figure out a good method, so this is what my partner and I did. The clamps have a lever at the base which you twist in order to adjust. Twisting the lever left will tighten the clamps while twisting it right will loosen them. I would suggest twisting it right in order to loosen the clamps to their maximum size. Then, you or your partner can position it on the nipple or clit, and then twist the lever to tighten it. When you or your partner say "ow!" then you know to stop and twist it back a turn (see pictures in Funtions/Performance). After figuring out this method, my partner and I realized that it was the perfect amount of pressure for me and we could easily take them off (if they started to hurt too much) just by pinching the ends of the clamp together. When we tried to put them on just by pinching the clamps, it always seemed too tight or too loose or hurt too much. Once we figured out the proper method, it was easy going.

When using, I would suggest attempting to apply the clamps to areas that are not wet. I know that this may be difficult, depending on the situation, but the clamps have a tendency to act like a slip 'n slide if you try to clamp down on something that's already wet. Once they're applied to a dry area, you can get wet -- I mean, the AREA can get wet -- and they will stay firmly positioned.

The metal chain and the metal of the clamps themselves are smooth to the touch and feel great. They are wicked cold, though! There hasn't been one time when I've pulled them out of the toy box where they haven't been freezing, but sensory play is fun, too, and we make it work.

If you're worried that the clamps are going to have too much of a bite, I wouldn't be too worried (although you should still read Shape/Design). Some clamps have scary metal jaws that beginners cower in fear at the sight of, but these clamps are designed with a clamp cover, which is nice and smooth and feels great. However, if those metal jaws make your eyes dance, simply remove the covers and have at it!

As I've said, these Alligator clamps are very adjustable; they will fit everyone. However, I'm not going to insist that they don't hurt, especially if you're in a different position other than lying down on your back. If you're standing upright, on your knees, or bending over, the clamps are going to pull as if they were weighted because the metal is heavy enough. If you adjust the clamps so that they don't hurt at all, they will be too loose and will undoubtedly fall off, even if you're just lying down.

These clamps are designed to be used in a Y fashion, using both nipple clamps and the additional clit clamp, but they don't have to be. You are able to easily take the clit clamp off, if you find it's not for you, and simply use the nipple clamps, or use the clit clamp by itself. I've found all of these options to be very pleasing, but as far as aesthetics goes, my partner thinks using all three clamps in the Y shape looks the sexiest.

The method to use in order to get your perfect fit for the clamp is as follows:

First, twist the level right until the clamp is at its maximum size.


Second, position it on the nipple or clit, as I've done with my finger.


Third, twist the lever left to tighten the clamp onto your nipple or clit.

I store my Alligator clamps in my toy box in its original packaging (minus the inside plastic).



Cleaning the clamps is very easy. Just remove the black clamp covers and run all the metal under warm water and wash with soap where needed. Do the same with the clamp covers and return to clamps when dry.

My only real gripe with the clamp is that the chain is kinda noisy when used with all three clamps (though less noisy when using just the nipple clamps or the clit clamp separately). If you plan on playing rough while using the clamp, be aware of the noise level.
