Sportcuffs review
These would be bad cuffs for you if you want something that's going to beat up on you and really remind you it's there while you're wearing them, or with the class and sex-appeal of leather, but if you want something affordable, fully adjustable, and light enough that you could pretty much forget about it until you try to get up, this is your toy.

Pros
Affordable, fully adjustable even for very small wrists, no pressure-points, light and easy to wear
Cons
Bland, utilitarian appearance
When it comes to wrist bondage, I have three problems: I have carpal tunnel syndrome, my girlfriend and I both have tiny wrists, and I can pop my thumbs so my hands are barely wider than my wrists. I have enough trouble finding a watch I can wear without pain. Cuffs? That's a real dilemma.
Metal cuffs are out, as is anything that might be too snug or hard, since they put me in a kind of pain I don't enjoy almost instantly. It also means that most buckled cuffs are a problem, since they're rarely adjustable to the perfect snugness I need.
After a long search, I decided to try the Sportcuffs|Sportcuffs.
Though one of the new cuffs was large enough to cuff both wrists together if I wanted to, the Velcro on the Sportcuffs runs the entire length of the neoprene, which means they are fully, perfectly adjustable, no matter how small your wrists (or ankles, or whatever you're bonding) are.
Since my girlfriend's wrists are even smaller than mine and we don't tend to play with others, I fit the cuffs to myself and then cut the extra length of neoprene. The Velcro seems well-fixed to the main portion of the cuff down the entire length, so I wasn't worried about it coming apart after being cut. There is also no gel or stuffing to worry about, making these- again- perfectly adjustable.
Now to the rings, because what good is a cuff if you can't attach it to something and then pull? The rings attached to the cuffs are like big keychain rings, which means they are detachable from their fabric loops if you're so inclined, or from the latch they come with, but they certainly won't come off accidentally. Due to the way they're attached, and the fact that neoprene is sturdier than simply fabric would be, tugging on the rings distributes the pressure well, so it doesn't create any nasty pressure-points even if you pull at an angle.
My only complaint about these cuffs is something I knew I was getting when I bought them: they're neoprene and bare Velcro, with one key-chain-style ring, very utilitarian. I love leather, I will admit, and I would love to have a fantastic set of black leather cuffs with D-rings all around. The Sportcuffs are not sexy cuffs (unless you're into sport and scuba-gear, which isn’t my particular fetish), but they're practical cuffs despite my particular needs, and in the long run I have to prefer something that is going to work rather than something that looks sexy hanging unused on the wall.

As for your question- cutting the cuffs doesn't seem to have effected the stitching, and so far the Velcro isn't pulling up at all. Since the cut end is on the inside, that edge of the Velcro doesn't get pulled directly away from the base, which probably helps.
I'll submit a follow-up review after they've received some more hard use and let you know how well they last.
