Roses and Willows, Oh MY!
The Black Rose Whipping Willow is feminine, pretty and has longer falls than you usually find on floggers in this price range. The falls are thicker and fuller than most floggers and can deliver quite a thump! They can also give a punishing stripe on a naughty backside. For the price it's really a steal and I have to give it to Doc Johnson, when they decide to make a flogger they really do a great job!

It is rare that a faux leather flogger impresses me as much as the Black Rose Whipping Willow by Doc Johnson. This lightweight but sturdy flogger offers both enthusiasts and beginners a great addition to their arsenal. From the beautiful faux leather rose that is the signature for the line to the longer than average falls this flogger means business in a softer and more feminine way!
The flogger begins with a lovely black rose on the end of the grip. It is firmly attached and unlikely to fall off even if the flogger sees some rough use. One drawback is that the handle cannot be used as an impromptu dildo. The rose adds a touch of sophistication to the flogger and creates an elegant line from the handle. This flogger is sleek and very pretty.
The wrist strap can double as a hanger for the flogger and it what I use to store the flogger in my closet. All my floggers, whips and paddles live on a set of two tie racks in my closet next to my lingerie. This way if I have a need for privacy I can flip the tie racks to the back of my closet and prying eyes are thwarted!
The wrist strap on the Whipping Willow measures about 6 inches which is plenty of room to fit even the largest hands and wrists. It is securely attached to the flogger handle and the purple faux leather binding is wrapped twice around the strap. This strap isn't going anywhere! The handle of the flogger seems to be a wooden dowel covered smoothly and completely by the purple faux leather at the top of the handle under the rose. I would imagine that the faux leather falls are wrapped around the dowel but without taking it apart I can't know for sure! Anyhow, I do know that the purple faux leather is wrapped rather attractively around the whole handle. The binding is secure but to be very honest could have been done with a little more care. At places the wrapping is uneven, looks bunched and shows a touch of raveling after just a fair amount of use. I don't feel like this is a cheaply made product that won't last, mind you, I am just being really critical for the sake of the review. I actually really like the flogger! If I had to be even more critical I would suggest that in future Doc Johnson not use a metal brad to fasten the wrapping on a flogger unless the wrapping is thin. The thicker faux leather on this flogger tends to curl up around the brad marring the look slightly.
This flogger has quite a few falls, 28 to be exact, on my flogger. The falls are black faux leather and each quarter inch fall looks to be several layers fused together. The falls measure 16 inches long which is quite long for a flogger. Given the length of the falls be sure you have enough room to swing the flogger, a bit of extra practice wouldn't hurt, either!
With falls this long you can give a light brushing across the skin or strike with the very tip of the falls for a stinging strike. This baby can certainly deliver some stripes, lemme tell ya! The falls shed just slightly but I don't think they will fall apart anytime soon.
I would store the flogger hanging by the wrist strap with the falls hanging straight so that they don't kink up or curl. A damp cloth can clean up just about every thing that can get on the flogger. I wouldn't use too much water or even a mild soap given the fused nature of the falls.

Experience
The Black Rose Whipping Willow really is the Piece De Resistance of the Black Rose line by Doc Johnson. It was what first caught my eye and played a big part in why I decided to buy the entire line offered here at EdenFantasys. I have not regretted that decision and I believe it was money well spent.
Follow-up commentary
9 months after original review
I still love this gorgeous whip. This isn't the kind of thing you'll find in a dungeon but maybe it should be! The mind fuck of a gorgeous feminine looking whip that is capable of leaving great marks could be just what the discriminating sub wants.
It has held up to frequent and vigorous use and abuse and still looks only gently broken in.
