Accessorize a costume for a party or role playing without breaking the budget, dip your toes into very, very light BDSM or domination or use them as a fun decoration to your bedroom or bathroom. This set is inexpensive, cute and is made for those who are experimenting or role playing without committing to serious toys. Creative, fun, sexy--and just catty enough....

Pros
--Cute & inexpensive. --Costume accessory. --Beginner or decorator items. --Mask is comfortable.
Cons
--Whip looks cheap. --No sting from whip. --Mask hard to clean.
The variety of uses for this set makes it well worth the money. Primarily for beginners, this is not a set for those already involved in BDSM or serious bondage. It was designed to set the mood for role play, as a fun tool for those curious about bondage and BDSM or to be used as an accessory to a costume or decorating scheme.
The mask can be used to hide your features at a masquerade ball, costume party, group party or for cam modeling. It is roomy and comfortable and is the most useful item in this set. Appropriate for men or women, the leopard print will add a bit of character or drama to your evening.
The whip is fun and flirty, having no sting whatsoever, it is also a great prop for those who do not like pain but love the role play, for costumes and looks great hanging on the wall of your private area. Made for show and not for heavy use, this is a perfect item for those steamy rendevous with that special person. You can let them know who's the boss--gently.
The mask is made of PU coated plastic on the inside and velveteen leopard print on the outside. It is flexible, yet stiff, and holds its shape very well. There is an elastic band that goes around the back of your head to keep it in place which is held on with small rivets. The band will stretch to fit most sizes of heads. The flexibility of the mask and sturdiness of the plastic interior allows for a good fit and keeps the large eye holes in place. You do have a good amount of vision, while keeping your face hidden, so wearing this in public would be an option. The mask is made large enough to fit almost everyone and those with a smaller face or head may feel 'lost' inside the mask. You could trim it down carefully if this is the case.
The inside of the mask has a soft, spongy feel to the PU coating and it reminds me of seat cushion foam from the early 70's. There is no smell to the material, but it does trap the heat and sweat next to your face. This does not breathe and can get uncomfortable when damp. The velveteen style material of the leopard print is very cute and has a soft feel to the touch. There is a shimmer to the material and it does not touch your skin, so itching from the short threads is nonexistent.
The whip is cute...from a distance. The firm, rigid handle is wrapped in the leopard print and it has a wrist wrap over the end of the handle. The 50 tails of the mask are 9 3/4" long and are made of cheap vinyl, like upholstery. They are each sewed vertically with the ends tucked to the middle so there are no edges of the material showing. This cheap, plastic vinyl material spoils the look of the whip and makes it look really cheap and tacky.
I suggest using this very gently to ensure the longevity of the material. The tails will tear and break if it is used in a forceful manner. Once the material starts to crack, there is no repairing the damage. The wrist wrap is also the same cheap, vinyl material and will pull off if tugged or pulled too hard. The handle is about 8" long and seems to be fairly sturdy.
The mask was comfortable to wear and did a great job hiding the upper facial features. The eye holes are large and well spaced but still allows for good vision while you are wearing the mask. The spongy textured interior was comfortable against the face until it retained too much body heat. Once I started to sweat, it kept it next to my skin and the mask became clammy, hot and uncomfortable.
The elastic band was comfortable around my head, but needed a knot in the back to adjust it to fit my head. It was a bit too large and the mask kept slipping down. Once it was adjusted, it stayed in place for the few hours I wore it before the heat got to me.
The whip was a fun prop--there was no stinging or pain of any sort involved when it was used against my butt or arms. I blocked it the first time we used it and it did not even leave a red mark on my arms. This is obviously meant for role playing, accessorizing a costume or other decorative purposes and not for serious bondage. I had fun adding this to my cam routine as a prop.
The tails on the whip do not have enough flex and bend to really get any sting out of them--thank goodness! I am not one for any kind of pain and was pretty relieved to know this was basically a children's toy, good for looks and not function. It does look really neat when it is hung on the wall, diagonally over a corner of a mirror.
Cleaning the mask is a bit of a challenge. I use a stiff but semi-flexible paint brush to brush the velveteen material out and remove smudges and such with cornstarch. A very light spritz of Febreeze to freshen it up and that side is finished.
For the inside, I run cornstarch into the PU, then brush it out with the firm paintbrush. Continue until the starch comes out powdery and white. I then do a light vacuum to remove any particles and hang it outside in the sunlight with a fine vinegar water mist. This kills the bacteria and mildew from the dampness of your sweat. When it is dry, I bring it in and hang it on the mirror or place it inside a plastic bag.
I treat the velveteen on the whip handle the same as I did for the mask. The vinyl tails I clean separately with either wet wipes or Armor-All. Yes, the stuff you use for the vinyl seats and dash in your car. It helps preserve the flexibility of the material. I also hang this outside for about 30 minutes to let the sunlight kill any damage from dampness. I hang this on a nail by my mirror or from a clothes hanger hook in my closet.
~~Great costume accessory. Remove from package if minors are using this.
~~Designed for role play or as a prop.
~~Proper cleaning will ensure healthy skin and longevity of materials.
~~Toss mask if a bad aroma or mildew has started to grow.
~~Fun and creative decor for bedroom area.
~~The whip is good for scaring stray dogs while walking. Not a good self-defense item, though.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it9 months after original review
I still love the mask, even though the elastic has broken. I did staple ribbon to each side for an adjustable fastener to keep it in place. The whip is still a decorative item for us, and will continue to be one since we prefer other items for tickling. I do wish this was still available--it sure helped as beginner users of whips and also for the anonymity of the mask!!
