Purple People Pleaser...Maybe

They are soft and comfortable with good reinforcement at the D-ring. The purple fleece lining is a delicious delight! All in all it's a nice cuff and most people will find them to be an excellent play cuff; unfortunately they just don't meet my need for a cuff that can be worn continuously.

Pros
Leather, nicely lined, sturdy D-ring.
Cons
Leather strap will stretch and deform with use, not the best quality for the money.

Use

These are a classically designed wrist cuffs for light to medium restraint play and a fashionable kink accessory for those who dare-to-bare in public. They have a sturdy looking buckle and D-ring for affixing them to a restraint point. You will need carabiners or another similar connector easily found at your local hardware store as they don't come with any sort of clasp.

The leather is supple and the purple faux fur lining makes them quite comfortable for all level of users though if you are hard-core about your restraints these will seem like a fashion/accessory cuff. I would say these are a good cuff for beginners who want to bypass the pretty accessory cuffs.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

The cuffs are a classic design; cuff, strap, buckle, rivets and d-ring. They are made of a very smooth, soft and supple leather. They don't have that strong "new leather" smell which for me was a bit of a disappointment. They are lined in a beautiful, plush, purple faux fleece and don't bind or chafe. None of the rivets touch your skin as the lining covers them.

The cuff itself is 8 5/8" long, 2" wide and seems strong and sturdy . There are four rivets on both sides of the sturdy D-ring and two securing the buckle. They have 8 holes for a custom fit. The first holes seem redundant; you couldn't find a chicken leg that small - why do they bother? Well the answer is when you have stretched the securing strap far enough they might become a necessity. Remember they are "soft and supple".

The strap itself is 10 1/4" long and 1" wide. It will fit a wrist from 5 1/8" up to 8 5/8" in circumference to begin with so it can double a an ankle cuff for those with small ankles. On my wrists I wear them buckled on the fourth hole - 7 inches and on my ankles the last hole - 8 5/8 inches. The stretching of the strap will in time allow a larger wrist and/or ankle to fit if you can use the first hole comfortably in the meantime. To fit a larger ankle they must be used on the wrist for some time.

I was dissapointed to find that the stitching has come loose in one spot. The stitching is for the most part, but not always, uniform. There is some difference in the spacing between seam and edge of the cuff. Not entirely suprising as they are hand crafted according to the information on the packaging. I wish that more attention was placed on quality and unifority.

I will be exchanging them because of the loose thread. I'm not altogether happy about this.

Performance

When I received them on I buckled them up and pulled very hard with both hands. There was some minor distortion of the leather strap and the buckle hole. When I put them on and pulled on the D-ring the same thing happened. I was not surprised; the leather is very supple after all. For me that is a concern as I pull very hard against them when restrained. If any part fails it will be the strap although with eight holes it would take quite a bit of time before you run out of holes. That they fit both my wrists and ankles was a plus.

Care and Maintenance

The exterior can be cleaned with mild soap on a damp cloth then wipe with a clean cloth and pat dry. Allow them to air dry for a day before storing them. Clean any bodily fluids as soon as possible especially on the lining. Any stains on the lining can be cleaned with a damp soapy cloth and again pat the soap away with a clean cloth and let air dry for a day. Resistant stains can be addressed with a soapy toothbrush.

To keep the fleece lineing from matting down too much use a medium bristle shoe shine brush to raise the nap.

Personally I clean them with saddle soap which also conditions the leather. Use a damp cloth to form a light lather, work it into the leather then wipe any excess away with a clean cloth and let them air dry for 24-48 hours before storing.

Leather cuffs should never be submerged in water, or any other liquid, as this damages the leather, so no water sports with leather! If they are accidently submerged double up a towel and starting from the buckle end roll the towel and cuff up tightly to absorb as much fluid as possible. Unwrap and place them on edge lighly curled. In 24 hours apply a liberal amount of leather conditioner and allow them to fully dry. This could take several days depending on the length of time they spent in the water. When they are fully dry apply more conditioner, let air dry 24-48 hours and then store them as usual.

Always allow your cuffs to thoroughly dry before storing. DO NOT put them on any heat source to hasten drying time - heat will damage the leather!

In between cleaning I use a light ammount of leather conditioner. It doesn't take much time to keep these cuffs in top condition and is time well spent.

They should be stored without any other toys or object on top of them. The can be stored lightly rolled. I store my cuffs flat. They should be kept away from direct sunlight to prevent drying, fading and cracking of the leather.

Packaging

The packaging is a clear plastic clam shell with picture of a model wearing the cuffs and not much else on the front. For myself the packaging is really too bulky to keep the cuffs stored in.

Personal comments

I love the purple faux fleece lining. It is a beautiful, rich purple and soft on the wrist. The supple leather has a very nice feel to it. There will be some overlap on a smaller wrist but that doesn't detract from the feel and is normal. The amount of upkeep is minimal but necessary if you want them to last.

Experience

I wear them most of the time so mine will age quicker than cuffs kept for special occasions. They seem sturdy enough for occasional use but hard extended restraint or continuous use will shorten the life of the cuff. The leather will stretch when pressure is applied.

They are fun when used for restraint on the bed with the tethers at the bedpost. We've never used them for suspension play. With a caribiner they can be clasped together in the front, behind the body or over your head just not suspended!
