Please your Kitty
The Kitty Crop is an adorable crop that makes it easy to give the specific pain that you are after. If you want to use it for rough play, it will leave bruises and cause pain. If you want to use it for soft play, it will barely leave a touch and just feel sensual. It's versatile, cute, and non-threatening.

Pros
Versatile. Cute. Not too flexible. Leaves Kitty Imprints. Can leave bruising
Cons
Hard to clean. Can leave bruising
The Kitty Crop is a gorgeous little pink crop from Ruff Doggie Styles. The crop is twenty inches long and made of leather. The little kitty head on the top of the crop isn't supported by anything in particular, so it's pretty floppy and allows for some difficult hitting depending on the angle that your "victim" is sitting. The kitty crop also comes with a nice wrist/hanging strap that fits perfectly (and I mean perfectly) around the handle of the crop that stays out of your way when you don't want it.
The kitty crop doesn't come in any special packaging. It's just a regular crop that comes in a little plastic bag during shipping. It has a tag that comes on the leather wrist strap that says that this crop is apparently available in a wide variety of colors. I did not know that.
The toy is pretty durable from what I can tell. The body of the crop seems to be made from a firm plastic, but it's covered with the material so it's hard to tell. The handle of the crop is made from braided leather. The little black part on the top is made from extremely tightly bound thread that is meant to keep the kitty head on. The kitty head is made from a black piece and pink piece of leather sewn together. Those two layers split at the "top" of the piece of plastic and the thread that is threaded tightly is what keeps those two pieces of leather held on. Theoretically, the kitty head could fall off, but we haven't seen a problem with it. If it did fall off, this crop would still make an excellent cane.
After thorough "testing" (with friends and everything), we've figured that it's a pretty awesome crop. The last Ruff Doggie Styles crop I owned started coming slowly out of the handle that it was made with, so I was concerned it was going to happen with this one. However, despite all of the pain, I put this poor toy; through tonight, it seems to be doing just fine.
The crop can hurt - there's no doubt about that. The kitty face is pretty floppy, so it definitely can get a lot of power behind it. It's also textured on one side which will make it hurt more. The wide area will help spread out the pain into a large area, but that doesn't mean that there's any less of the pain. The small height of the kitty face also means that most beginners, when attempting to strike roughly, are not going to hit purely with the kitty face. They most likely will end up hitting with part of the plastic stick, and that is honestly the part that hurts the most.
When we were messing around with it, he ended up hitting her a couple times with it - pretty roughly, and before they had left our apartment an hour later, she had already started bruising from the rough hits. She also had cute little kitty marks on her legs - the Kitty Crop does leave an outline of the kitty wherever you strike which turns red and makes the kitty face appear.
This isn't to say that the crop has to be rough - it honestly doesn't. If used lightly (which all four of us sucked at doing), it can be very gentle and doesn't bruise at all. It can be a very cute teasing crop because it doesn't look like it's very threatening or BDSM-like. The kitty doesn't have to hurt if you used to tap lightly on the skin of your partner - it's only when used roughly will it hurt or bruise. If you don't intend to use it to inflict pain (which is just humorous since it's a kitty head that's doing it), then you won't have problems with the pain.
We were also split about the kitty face. I think it's uniquely cute, Jor says it's ugly and our male friend says it's awesome. I suppose it really depends on the person's preference, but do keep in mind that the kitty isn't just all one layer - it's the flat layer of the kitty face, the black eyeballs, then another layer with the white on top, so there ends up being three layers of fabric making up the kitty face.

Experience
I'm also a little split on the length. When it comes to reaching someone who isn't in your immediate area (like bonking Jor on the head while he's playing video games), it works. However, once you get into close contact, it can be a little more difficult to control without stepping back from your intended target. This isn't a big deal, but it's something that should be mentioned. I also would like to mention that a few practice swats wouldn't hurt since the kitty head is awkwardly shaped and may be a little more difficult to control than intended.
The kitty shouldn't require cleaning, but if it does, there is special leather cleaner that can be found on your local mass merchandiser. You can also use an antibacterial wipe to wipe it down, but not often as it may harm the leather. A very, very lightly moist washcloth can wash it down too, but make sure you dry it since leather doesn't like water much.
I'm impressed though. Even after all of the use, the kitty crop seems to be holding up better than my flower crop. Maybe it's the six dollar difference, but I'm honestly pretty happy with my kitty crop. It's cute, not the normal BDSM toy, and stands out when I show it to friends or take it to play parties. I'd highly recommend the Kitty Crop whether you are just starting or want something a little more rough for your play - it's versatile and works well.

Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
We still use our little kitty crop. In fact, I brought it to a random kink party and would bop people on the head. They'd smile and laugh at the cute crop. It definitely ends up getting you some attention when you go in public just because it's so unique. The Kitty crop is holding up great, and unlike our Flower Crop that started to wiggle out of the handle, this one is still just like we first got it - and we actually use it more too!
