Pros
Heavy duty design; easy to use and store; numerous positions possible
Cons
Has the tendency to shift around during "robust" use
The Under the Bed Restraint System is elegant in its simplicity. All there is to it is four straps connected in the middle with velcro cuffs at each end. Despite its simple design, it is one of the most useful (and used) sex aids in our bedroom. The usage of the restraints are pretty self explanatory. You can bind your wrists and ankles with each of the straps and the weight of the bed holds them in place.
The strap configurations can be placed in a number of ways. The straps can be placed at the long ends of the bed or the sides of the bed. Obviously, since all of the straps are moveable, you can have the wrist restraints set above and the ankle restraints set at the side - or vice versa if desired.
The position of the restrained can either be laying down on their back or face down for maximum comfort. However, it is possible to use the restraints for a bent or doggie style position. There's more give and play in the restraints in this latter position, but it's certainly fun. An interesting alternative to the bent or doggie style position is to take the cuff off of the wrist straps and hook them on the ankle straps too. This configuration approximates a spreader bar without the bar in the middle to obstruct play. If your partner is flexible enough, the opposite configuration could be attempted - having the ankle cuffs attached to the wrist restraints. All of these combinations provide hours of bedroom fun!
The design is straightforward. The straps are easily adjustable for different sized beds. The cuffs are velcro and can fit any size wrist or ankle. The straps are all heavy nylon (like backpack straps) and can take a lot of abuse without wearing. The straps are all black and compliment a black bedspread nicely. However, I would suggest not using them with silk sheets as the straps will wear the threads thin is you use them a lot - we found out the hard way.
The Under the Bed Restraint System has functioned flawlessly for us. There hasn't been a time yet when the velcro straps have come undone nor have the links broken under heavy use. The straps will shift around and can come off-center when using it vigorously, but it's fairly easy to move them back into place - even when still strapped into them. The straps are softly lined on the inside and are very comfortable and can be worn for long periods of time without getting itchy or numb - provided the straps are not too tight to begin with.
The Under The Bed Restraint System is essentially zero maintenance. Once the straps are under the bed, they can easily be tucked in between the mattress and box springs and no one will be the wiser. The velcro cuffs will occasionally get hair or fuzz caught in them but are easily cleaned out. The nylon is heavy duty and anything that gets accidentally spilled on them can be quickly and easily wiped off. Plus, since the straps are black, it shouldn't fade or become stained.
The packaging is a nice glossy cardboard box with models in various positions and props (e.g. feather tickler). Special instructions were not given in the package but mainly on the box.
The Under the Bed Restraint System was one of the first "gateway" products we purchased when going from soft to harder bondage. It was a great first experience with a more involved bondage experience. Over time, we gradually added harder scenes while still using the same, fairly mild product. Some of the best experiences with the Under the Bed Restraint System came during sensory play. With a blindfold and/or headphones, partners can really lose themselves into their sensations. There's a whole host of other scenarios that this product can come into play (pun intended) besides just mild to moderate BDSM - like captive or slave fantasies too.
A truly utilitarian toy
Follow-up commentaryI still like it11 months after original review
I still love this product. After three years, this is still under our bed and gets used regularly. Unfortunately, the velcro has lost a little of its stick and I had to clean out some of the fuzz. Other than that, it's still a great way to get into D/s.

Hehe...it certainly can be. Just don't make the same mistake we did and use it so many times in a row that you get a little bored of it. Variety is the spice of (a sex) life

Good review. We have a similar set. If I had realized this one could be used without putting it under the bed (we have a water bed and you can't put anything under the water filled mattress) I would have gotten this one.
Are the cuffs permanently attached to the tethers, or can you use them free, like with the Cuff and Tether Set?

Glad they didn't include a bunch of cheap extras on this one. Looks like a solid kit.

Hmm this look like it might add onto another set we have. Cool. Good review.
