This review is for the fetish fantasy series velvet lover's paddle.

I am writing this review from a very beginner's point of view, which I thought many folks would appreciate as many of the other reviews are from experienced users. I was really excited to get this paddle in the mail. It was way smaller than I expected (I didn't check the measurements before ordering, so was just looking to surprise myself I guess). It measures about 12" long and 3" wide. It is very light, weighing it at a mere .2 pounds. I like the elongated shape of it...it makes for a good spanking. As a beginner, even I thought this paddle was just Okay. It seems to be a bit cheaply made and feels like there are thick pieces of cardboard with velvet sewn over them. The paddle is definitely VERY loud, so keep this in mind if you have guests or children. I loved how loud it was! The sound is created by the two pieces of cardboard that are split at the top and clap together. It took quite a bit of force to leave the heart imprint on my butt with this. The handle is a bit thick and stiff and is a little uncomfortable if your grip is too tight (which if your partner is really into it, their grip is likely pretty tight). I don't think it's worth the $29.99 price tag and feel there are probably better options out there. If you are looking for light play, this is your toy if you can get it on sale. If you are looking for something more durable, click the 'x' now. Because I'm not REALLY into being in a lot of pain and wouldn't need a super durable paddle, I enjoyed this because it gave all of the effects I truly do like such as the velvet, the loud clapping sound created by the two cardboard flaps, and the heart shape. It has a bit of a funky smell to it...reminds me of the way a new car's seats smell. A bonus is that it is phthalates free.

As a beginner, this was definitely a fun toy to experiment with, but I can see how the more experienced "spankers" would be highly disappointed with this.
